In this episode I share an audio documentary on an evacuation drill with my beloved from 10 years ago

My Non Verbatim Show Notes:

Got water, we’ve got food

crates, milk crates to organize things in stack them on top they’re everywhere great for organize things

a tent, great if you have a car bugging out, gives you more things to bring may be useful

thermarest mat, different scales or modules of bugging out, mini kit, bug out bag, bug out vehicle, bug out location, from smallest to largest you’re gonna have a lot of the contents will be the same but more elaborated the more space you have

in your office, people may over look, bug out bag in car all day, if something is obstructing your ability to get home from work, plan to deal with an emergency with family together, get out of your home get somewhere else some how

bug out bag in your car, most people can’t just haul in a giant bug out bag into work and just post that up, so beneath that if you have what they call a mini kit, then a miniaturized set of tools and cordage, anyone can carry a multitool

go to work with regular backpack, small scale first aid, high nutrient energy bars, water bottle, at a bug out location that’s your ultimate survival retreat with a permaculture garden growing itself, on it,

well

mother load of preps out there, but if you scale down into you pocket you should have miniaturized version of that

boy scout hand book, fire and cordage zine, whole point of having all these things, do these drills and use them regularly, not have to dig them out in an emergency

in our fast paced busy lives its hard to set aside time to go and set up drill scenarios and just spend time playing with our toys

endeavor to do that more, if you don’t have the time, at least having it is good so when you need it there, but there’s skills that go along with every piece of equipment, just makes a sharper learning curve

scaling up of equipment, a little bit of cordage on body at all times, to more in bug out bag, to whole roll in car, to spool at a bug out retreat property, build tree forts, do all kinds of stuff

first aid kit, vehicle first aid kit, mini flares, hazard signal, basic tools in the bug out vehicle

duct tape, dust mask, hammer, saw, pliers, pry bar, basic tools, tool box type of things, jumper cables, air compressor, battery starter, bailing wire, oil funnel

not even being a crazy survivalist to roll with tools, it’s common sense

a jack, spare tire

extra dog food

dogs are great for traveling

bring something that would make the dog feel at ease, enough water for dog, or animal companion

training dog friend how to hunt

cats are good but difficult to take traveling

mobile office,

checking air pressure, oil, fluids

keeping a half to ¾ ot gas tank at all times, don’t wait til the gauge is in the red

major congestion in emergency, rolling out of house almost on empty, if you can carry extra fuel safely, if it’s difficult to have reserve fuel, at the very least know you have plenty of gas in the actual tank at all times, emergencies come with short notice

you’ll be stuck, at the risk of being rounded up in some kinda of human zoo, won’t be wild and free

didn’t have budget to show crazy urban meltdown situation, insinuation, with vehicle we weren’t able to get to bug out location, had to leave the vehicle and haul on our backs would we could

scenario is, you have bug out bag at all times in vehicle, at the point where you can’t go further with vehicle, if the streets were clogged, they’re corralling people, decide to go on foot, planned out, have maps, going to retreat into the woods and wait it out, if you’re in your bug out vehicle with your bug out bag, take things out of the bug out vehicle you can pack with you

do a little inventory and swapping of things, get a little more food, a little more water

we’re gonna go set up a stealth camp, near the car, continued access to the bug out vehicle, get a couple days of stuff then go back and replenish supplies, think of it as your little canteen

foraging on the secret wilderness retreat

fennel leaves munching on, fennel seed

nasturtium, eating flowers

always know what you’re eating, do the proper plant identification

legal disclaimer, don’t eat anything unless you know what it is

rule of 3s you can live 3 minutes without air, 3 hours without shelter, 3 days without water, and 3 months without love, that’s what Ron Hood says

a lot of times people in survival situations just assume that the thing they need to do first is find food, get panicked crazy and desperate thinking they need to find food right away, less circumstance where you’re gonna have limited access to oxygen, what really matters is to know that say you’re stranded somewhere, it could be a desert, it could be high mountain where it’s gonna get cold, could be tropical, you’re gonna get wet, first thing you’d want to do is secure your shelter, 3 hours of exposure to extreme weather conditions could kill you or weaken your immune system, gear/maps could get destroyed, first thing you want to do is build shelter or dig shelter, construct shelter, according to rule of 3s, next you’d have 3 days after building shelter to find water, once secured that, go on to search for food, you can survive on your own reserves for 3 weeks before you’re dead, monks can go astounding periods without foods, depending on how much energy you’re using, hiking out using a lot of energy, lost trying to find way back

main point, you have a good solid 3 weeks if you cover shelter and water, before you’re at the point of desperation of going into universal edibility test

levels of danger eating anything wild, it’s own endogenous biochemical toxins, then the exogenous toxins it can absorb from environment

weeds are scabs of the earth, able to draw out and into themselves high levels of toxins, can be dangerous even if on their own they’re medicinal, it can be a double edge sword

you don’t have to cut corners to eat right away

definitely worth waiting to do it right

hanging out with eucalyptus, not to be ingested but good for anti septic, vapor rub

eating mustard greens

guitar and flute to lift the spirits, playing judas priest, breaking the law

raw natural food part of any beings diet, it’s gotta be competitive with the hottest crack sugar food on the shelf, it’s all doable, all the textures can be made with blender, dehydrator, food processor

hand crank, bicycle powered blenders, old school cider presses, grain grinders, all be refashioned without electricity, human powered stuff

how to start fires, that could be a whole series

this was good for us, this drill, to be able to document in this way is cool, not only serve our purpose of testing, felt really good to do, felt really go know that we really did put a lot of good stuff together, we didn’t pack up the car we could have found out, we really didn’t know what would fit, we had an idea, this was our first drill

got it several gallons of water, tons of food, we did a month or so before that, gone through everything we owned and compartmentalized things in easy bug out

what would we not want to leave that would be sentimental, what would be be screwed if we left, ready to go as ready as possible, very procedural, went down check list of procedures to get things out of certain places

after thought, the way we had that nice blanket laid out on the ground, put everything on there, have a good visual aid to know what you’re taking, what you may be missing, if you had stuff scattered in different areas even if you checked off that you have it

everything we took we laid out on the blanket first, if anything would be left behind it would have to be left on that, easy to check that than the whole house

very cool to have done that and get that experience

again we’re definitely not experts, this was two people who are scared shitless of what it would be like to be trapped in a city when shit it the fan, started process of self educating, equipping, starting to explore well established subculture of survivalism, from diy punk to eco punk , shows, touring so many skill sets and experience similar to modern survivalists

there’s a big gap though between diy anarcho punks are doing that’s survivalistic, between wilderness survival, or ex-military types, a lot to be learned from those folks who are out there, don’t have exact same political philosophies, practical skills and knowledge, hippies too, out in the hills, ex-military, tactical training, army field manuals, tying knots, carry someone injured, build shelter

punks anti technology anti system life style unfortunately lack that hard traditional american sort of roughing it back woods, hick type of skill sets, you have a lot more of that background that I do, I didn’t get to experience in my childhood, but you definitely had more of that experience as a backwoods girl, cave lady, you bring a lot more to me and a lot more experience and background, again just trying to figure this stuff out with not a lot of money, good personal experience here and there

I would just encourage people to get ideas, get fired up to go and start the process, never ending process of preparing for personal , regional, national, global disasters of all kinds

a lot of disaster commonality, if you’re prepared for one thing you’re also prepared for other things

more resilient on many levels, cross applies to anything you encounter

we were intense about doing it every day for months at a time, studying consistently for about a year, this is like our final exam

had lots of teachers, listened to a lot of podcasts, a lot of videos, really took notes, documented went out

we didn’t just have ideas that all of this would be really cool, we actually went out with limited funds, purchased our materials, or diyed our materials, really economical about things but still we really actualized it, that’s really important and really awesome,

part of it was a safety net because me growing up in a safer place, surrounded by a lot of wild areas, then making the adventure of la, what can I do if the city goes down

dad lives in the mountains, hunting and fishing, what are you doing moving to l.a. being very concerned for my well fare

urban environment always under constant threat of being extinct

good way to connect with the earth

deliberate life, tried to be health, smart, efficient, safe, secure, prepared, resilient, self sufficient

My Non Verbatim Show Notes:

Starting to load the car, water dry food

checking things off the list

really are doing this, the dry food, bullets beans band aids, bag of beans

brown rice, the 5 gallon buckets are most ideal long term food storage units, you can put oxygen absorbers in, keeps critters out, won’t be able to chew their way through it, not as easy as anything in the pantry, isn’t secure

keep your food stuffs very safe from critters, safe from moisture, and actually a company called gamma seal that makes lids with twisting tops

your fingers get chewed up trying to pop off those lids, the standard lids, definitely the optimal food storage units

bagging up electronics in zip lock bags, definitely a smart thing, keep them dry, also to keep wires separated, in emergency don’t want to have to untangle wires from junk drawer

use them to isolate wires

connecting to the internet world, technology

wouldn’t have thought to bring extra battery or generator, using are as generator, being able to still have technology in your life if you have a vehicle

ready to go the moment that shit hits the fan

packing everything, displaying everything we have in here, everything I felt I needed in that bag but the bag was really very small, it’s korean military bag, very small, 3 pouches on side, flap, made from strong canvas

a lot of little things make up my bug out bag, all really important

ongoing inventory of all preps, as I get a pay check I add a couple of things

background on bug out bags, another term for them, important distinction, 72 hour emergency kits, kept in vehicle in the trunk, somewhere safe in a vehicle, main traditional application or concept, if you’re out and about and you need to get from a point of danger to point of safety you can do so on foot with a back strapping pack,

difficult to carry 3 gallons of water, water purification iodine crystals, also knowing about water purification, 3 days would not be practical to pack around, definitely have a means of getting water, you have water bladder, I got collapsible 2 gallon plastic jugs, if you had to set up a camp somewhere, needed to go get water, unfold it, take it back, boil the water, use filtration, purification

going awol, american archetype, doing the walden thing, can’t think of the right classic, going off into the wilderness forever, its not necessarily for that, a lot of overlap, people pack in wilderness survival, magnesium match, water proof matches

hunting gear, fishing gear, first aid kit, anitbiotics, sutcher kits, salts, different things that seemed really necessary, luxury too, to have some of these things

how amazing would that be to be able to have, if you came down with gnarly infection, you had access to an antibiotic

small shovel, 12” dig a hole to use restroom, use it for trapping, use it for collecting water, digging a whole and getting water that way, that drains at the bottom of your whole and tracking with tarp

shovel, since we did this I’ve done more studying, I would fact check everything we’re saying, using shovel to dig yourself a shitter at least 12 inches deep, no where near any water supply, if near stream have to shit dig deep hole far from any water, may want to mark it too, disperse throughout area, don’t just make a giant pit in a camping area, disperse if you can

solar still, a way to get water, a solar still, you dig out a whole, if you create a steam room with sunlight even works when sun’s gone down, mini green house, with plastic sheet, a tarp best is for it to be transparent or translucent

a pot at the bottom of whole, put some greens around your pot, fallen leaves from trees, brush, to kind of release some moisture, collect moisture from top of the tarp, droplets form, water goes down into that, thin piece of tubing

you could suck it out so you don’t have to disturb the tarp

one use of the shovel, also a canvas water bag with plastic lining that you could change in side

little rain poncho, rain gear, dog leash, tarps, warm clothes, wool sweater, long johns, deck of cards for fun, eating utensils, foil, emergency blanket, good for keeping warm, also for sun protection, if you’re lost and you need attention, signal

it looks like there’s pens, two writing pens, one wrapped with fishing line, one wrapped with duct tape, film canisters with fishing weights

pens, to have mini roll of emergency stash of duct tape, applying principle that you have such limited space, you want to cut down on excess objects and weights, make an object multi useful,

to have a pen is so important, because bugging out the idea of bugging out in southern california is really scary, I work on one side of town you work pretty far away, scenario you don’t have access to car or freeway is clogged, a place of meeting, how long do we wait before we move on, is there a second place

idea of letting one another know, I’ve been here, I need you to know that I’ve been here and have moved on, write a note on something, that doesn’t go away

within a survival scenario, something that’s sturdy, and write, I’ve been here, I’ll meet you down the way, having a pen is important

if you wanted to really have fun with it, you can develop different code systems

definitely encrypted numbers, there’s a simple system plus 1 or plus 2 encryption, easy methods as long as everybody in your unit has the key, you’ll know whatever’s written

flourescent tape for wilderness situation, mark you trail

also fishing gear, trapping line, fish weights, fish hooks, knife for fishing, great japanese knife little hook at the knife for gutting fish

lighters, magnesium match, steel wool, matches

steel wool, 4 ought, very fine stuff, its a form of tinder, ignites very well, trying to create friction fire with wood, it’s a hard

you can use a battery, if you connect to battery you can get a spark that will light

light weight transportable instant tinder, ignites really easy will help you get rest of kindling going

tube tent

medical bag, pair of gloves, I work in medical, definitely some latex gloves

gauze, alcohol swabs, antibiotics, ammonia, medical tape, bandages, sutcher kits, ointments, blade, small scalpel, raiser blades, tweasers, pregnancy test

being able to have tampons, not gonna be able to renew them and get them , have to diy it, something that’s useful is a sponge, sterilize it in some boiling water, it will shrink sponge, so find big one, picking out all sand or shell in sea sponge

floss, or really durable string on end of sponge, you can use it internally, if you need to you can take it out and rinse it and let it dry out and re-insert, two or more sponges is kinda handy, cycle them out as they dry, make your own pads, out of all flannels, I’ve seen girls make their own pads and make wings on them and button them around their underwear, do things like that, making them pretty

there are alternatives out there for women for bleeding, I’ve known women who are like whatever I don’t even care, just go to town on bleeding and doing their thing

flow is so light, if you’re really active, you might be hiking a lot, climbing, even if not eating a whole lot of food, period might not be so heavy, those are things you can do that will be in your medical bag also, whole chapter on bugging out

fertilize the garden, recycle nutrients always

also some sentimental stuff, blankets,

a pipe, a flute pipe, pictures, some things for trading, journal their to keep the spirits up and paper, notepads and stuff to log things, draw maps, trails, keep track, or universal edibility test, a million reasons why you’d want to have a solid notebook/journal, could keep you entertained, books

we had books in the vehicle, all pretty practical stuff, if you could afford to have something that would entertain you that would be good too

camera

can opener, head lamp, one of those shaking flash lights, liberty stamps, means of communications, prepaid backup cell phones, phone cards, forever stamps if you circumstances were such that you wanted to send mail, didn’t have money, didn’t want to be seen wanted to be stealth, you have those stamps, regardless of how price goes up, if you have old stamps, it will get bounced, forever stamps, they’re good at that rate

having some of those, having that mindset of what are your redundancies for your communications, something we didn’t mention yet in that notebook, have your contact lists, the idea that if you were to bug out, have 3 destinations, a couple of rally points and three routes to get to those, main idea, if you had to get out of your house and get out of city, state, expect that you don’t want to have one destination, it could fall through, you would want to have at least 3 possible places where you’re post up with self family, family member that lives outside of town or state, or even state park, where there’s water and you could even hunt, bugging out, preps for it, our destinations and routes, did have printed maps, of different routes, and rally points if we were at work, where are we gonna meet if we’re separated and we need to get together in our city before we leave our city, having that documentation, having printed out list of emergency contacts, your own personal medication information, what people to be able to find your emergency contacts, your medical conditions, allergies, careful of how much personal info you have in papers just rolling around with you, if you lose them, potential for identity theft

I would rather have someone steal my identity, take that risk and have documentation I need to be safe if found unconscious or cut off from electricity, computers don’t work, cell phones don’t work, don’t know family members phone numbers, so dependent on speed dialing, voice dialing, going back through the information age, through pencils, big contractors pencil, have to shave it off with a knife, the point is riffing off from forever stamp, so many different ways to back up vital information you’re gonna need, navigation you’re routes, who you’re gonna contact

also had a compass, very important

pepper spray

razor blade, for medical emergencies

matching bags on a lot of things we would go shopping at the surplus store, get two of each, point out things that were unique to mine

machete is the cutting tool of choice if doing anything as far as natural living, low tech gardening to clearing space, its the way to go

a mirror for hygiene and signal mirror

have some sort of mirror, most effective way to signal planes going by, or on ground level from a distance, reflect the sunlight a certain way, clothes pins, for hanging clothes to dry over the fire

handkerchief, good for keeping head cold, dip in water, wrap head or neck, filter large debris out of water, use it to carry or tie things, cover face from dust

dental floss, for sewing, little sewing kits safety pins, rubber bands, fasteners, zip ties, bungee cords, cordage, fishing line, paracord, cup/bowl that can be cooked with, hand wood saw, wire saw, which is great, tiny little strip of jagged wire with two key rings, simple way to cut through wood

there’s a value in having a steel frame pack or pack that has a way to keep the actual mass off of back, airflow, because you can be sweating into the bag, definitely getting clothing wet, dealing with unwanted dampness when it gets colder, create airflow between surface area of pack for long hiking trips

whistle/compass, good for signaling for danger, dealing with bears,

cool concept, a lot of wild animals will tend to want to avoid you rather than confront you if at all possible, most bad situations when you surprise wild animal, they don’t have opportunity to make their own escape, the way to avoid that is to have a bell, or be singing, or clapping, as you’re walking, if you’re scared because you don’t know what’s out there, what helps you lift your spirits, singing or whistling, or jingling, making some musical racket, create sonic buffer zone or shield around you, it alerts animals, they’ll more often than not, clear the way to avoid even being near you

the flute and guitar, not just for campfire, but literally walking through wilderness the more pleasant noise you can make the safer you’ll be

zip lock container, tooth paste, toiletry items, different things

that’s most of our bug out bag, there’s more odds and ends, a lot of stuff in there

My Non Verbatim Show Notes:

Pea pod, double wide sleeping bag, a way of life

tendency to roll away in the night, kept us very tightly connected, exquisite experience of couple-dom

really bonding experience to sleep in a double wide sleeping bag with one another

warehouse used to live and work out of, not super insulated, swap cooler, no heat, no air, being in that in the middle of the winter was great

my dog, got so much personality, so much love that she wants to offer people, offers companionship, protective, looks docile, but very defensive of me, protective of you, let us know when there were people around that we didn’t want in our personal space, guardian protector

definitely a survival plan should include any type of dog, different breeds that have different…its all training too, extension of your senses so important when facing any danger, beyond our senses as humans, so dulled, untrained, don’t have fine tuning, beyond the bandwidth of our perception

4 legged member of your family, so many different dimensions of safety and security, she’s great to bug out with, learning how to hunt, learning sign language, how to be quiet, make a left on a trail right on a trail, when to be still, for hunting, depending on level of training you give your dog, companion, friend depends on how useful they’ll be to you

jumping on trampoline, japanese style sacred eating table we would cross our legs and that was pretty funny actually, seemed to work pretty well, firm enough to give a nice foundation

good for the spirits to do a little bouncing around, get blood flowing, lymph moving

next we have the diy ramshackled version of the wing chun/jeet kune do wooden dummy, made from a log from a salvage yard, electrical or plumbing pipes, other futuristic post apocalyptic mad max devices, motorcycle helmet, bike tube and stuff, to show self defense training, bugging out

every morning, first thing you’d do is jump on trampoline, work out, do some pull ups, make your breakfast, go jogging around the park

potential for 2012 solar maximum, peak in solar flare activity, the most probably catastrophe that could affect things on national if not global scale

headlines: governments be warned, the grid has a high chance of being crippled for several years

shit hit the fan scenario with maximum scale and impact

evacuation drill depicts what we would do as survival minded folks if we see this and decide we’re getting out of the city

we decided there’s an impending threat, it’s just a drill, experimented with trying to dramatize it, I mainly lack the skills, just being aware that threats exist and apply a logic to what you would do

should I stay or go, survival speak, bug in or bug out

we had to think about it a lot, bugging or out, when is it appropriate, to actually not go to work, or say forget my life I’m going to my bug out space

when is okay to change your whole life on a hunch, it’s a big decision

dry erase board use for lists of stuff we wanted to get

there are different degrees of impact of a SHTF scenario, disaster, crisis, smallest scale, your own personal life, job loss affects just you, everything around you is business as usual, acutely happening in your own life

you should list the threats in your area, southern california, urban rioting, not like people homesteading, people already off the grid

thinking through the threats, what are a few of the major threats that could face us in this area, how long would they eventually last, how long to bug in or bug out, based on this kind analysis

if there’s rioting, we can stay in

potentially still be making money through the internet, if there’s a pandemic, and there’s martial law and there’s rioting, thank god we don’t have to go out and try to buy food and water because we have it stored already, we can bug in safely, a week, 2 weeks, a month, however long

building up supply to have more and more duration, if something’s long term be able to stay

argument for having money saved

what if things are so bad that you won’t still get thrown out

if you don’t have saved money, opposed to credit card debts and living month to month, have the money to pay for your bills have as many months of secure cash, checking or saving so you can stay there, not go to work if you don’t feel safe or comfortable

if you bug out and you do plan to come back, if the threat subsides you’ll still have your home if you’ve saved enough

how american it is, how southern california it is, rioting in los angeles, it did take days, maybe weeks to recooperate, other places may be a really long time, rioting could turn into a war, government vs the people

much different scale for different parts of the world

a lot of places the shit already has hit the fan, it’s post apocalyptic already

came across word, transapocalyptic

the world is in a transapocalyptic state

so many different levels

forecast is the grid is going down, could be anytime, we’re getting out of la

big part of our evolution as lovers is what the hell are we doing in la we should be far far away from danger, living on a permaculture food forest with friends, safe tucked away in the high hills, the dream of escaping the urban jungle, escape from LA Kurt Russel style

notebook, standard protocol, have this in your vehicle as well, check list for what we would do to close the shop, have a list of the things you know you would take, know how to shut off gas, water, turn out lights, unplug things,

already created checklist to close shop

evacuation check list

have a pair of ankle supporting strong, hopefully water resistant or water proof boots in bug out vehicle or bug out bag

can’t march in fancy shoes

gearing up

putting on carabiner clips, hasn’t become the biggest craze, but some day I’m going to claim being the founder of the carabiner clip/shoe lace tethering your stuff

you attached one of these to my notebook, to purse, I could never really attach on to my clothes, used to wear a lot of skirts, dresses, puffy stuff, not a lot of pockets

there it is right when you need it, notebook, wallet

I clipped something onto one of the loops that holds the strap of your purse

cell phones are really slippery, have a tendency to slide out of things, a string, something floss, something strong, be able to clip it, it could save your life

it’s awesome

books and videos, poser shot of entertainment and education media, highlights

milk crate book shelves

psychedelic shamanism, bruce lee’s art of expressing the human body, I turned into a training nerd, you see the results of him in action on screen, made a laboratory of his own body

raw food diet, guerrilla gardening

1200 watt power inverter, got it rigged up to car battery, mainly good for appliances, ive got the 150 watt one, good for laptop and cell phone

use your car as a generator, every vehicle is a generator, not most efficient, fact is if it’s running, you can be charging things, in a bug out/SHTF ability to power different tools, lights, extra fuel, emergency, do most of what you can in a house with running your engine

if power goes out, on your property you still have auxillary power if you consider your vehicle a generator, if you have a power inverter you can go out to your car

filling up little bottle of soap, need to pack hygiene stuff in a bug out bag, if you’re out facing danger, having to hit the road, be out in urban or wild bugging out situation, the need to stay as clean as possible is a really vital need, most of what is gonna get you is gonna be infections, small cuts and scrapes

hospital jammed up, in hiding, whatever it is

first aid kit, extra medicine

anything you need to stay hygienic its gonna be even more important if you don’t’ have a shower, can’t get help if you need it

bucket gardens, I love to garden, I loved to go out and just really had a hard time of not having any type of ground earth, to make compost or garden or just feel beneath my feet, living in la

you came up with this idea, of bucket gardens, tried experiments, pallet gardens, what was the measurements

determined we needed a lot more soil for that to work

bucket gardens were great, deep enough, got a lot of food out of those guys

lots of salad clippings, onions, different types of herbs, lots of parsley basil swiss chard, collard greens, tomatoes

we were very busy and definitely could have perfected it more, totally cool though that the cut and come again, gardening term, eating off of them a couple times a day

whole concept of cut and come again, basically holding back the life cycle of the plant, not let it go to seed, don’t want it to bolt, the leaves start to get bitter, more rigid, end its life cycle at that point, go to seed

always wanting to continue that process, the more you cut it back and eat off of it, the more it will produce

continually working with it, some will keep going for years and surprise you

before I got into growing food, I kind of thought what a waste grow a lot of lettuce for months, eat it once and its gone, but there’s once that keeping growing

stay very well covered with your greens

another thing about buckets, drilling holes in side for green onions and herbs, quarter sized wholes grows so much more biomass

can grow tomatoes upside down

growing in 360 degrees, chaos cross of food coming out of a bucket,

dig that if you’re limited on ground space

if we had a truck we’d take these with us in the truck, we had a car, that was our bug out vehicle limitation

take them and go plant them, put them in good soil, good compost and take care of them, grow and thrive a lot better

citrus harvesting tool, diy

t-shirt cloth sewn around a coat hanger attached to a stick pole

modular kitchen compost sink collector thing

composting in a plastic tote, regular storage bin

with that mulch that the city provides stuff gets cooked down in there pretty fast

does better in larger outdoor pallet set up

turning it pretty regularly, we were responsible with our industrial limitation and our food scraps, we did take it all to the garden in long beach that has an actually pallet based system, using the same mulch able to maintain pretty good health

the real bug out which was when we left the place, it wasn’t a solar storm, definitely a point where we had to move on from the space, all the compost got taken to a real garden, all the buckets found a home there

this is just to document the lifestyle of daily smoothies

sprout jars, huge value to know about and to use, if you think of comparing, most crops as a gardener or farmer, depends, if you could imagine that the average cycle from planting to harvesting is at least 3 months, this is a 3 day turn around from germination to harvesting and eating

while there are vast abundant stockpiles of grains and seeds available, they’re dirt cheap, all you need is water and air, don’t need sunlight

very transapocalyptic, imagine being in a cave, shelter, with water, seeds, beans, grains, nuts, able to grow tons of biomass, ready to eat in a couple days

quinoa, sunflower seeds, fill bottom of jar ¼ deep in 3 days they’re growing out the top

soak over night, tilt, rinse

avoid mold, create air flow

a lot of water, learned our lesson gallon water jugs started to leak

food great 55 gallon drums, glass

these were leaking, this type of plastic is not the healthiest or safest

not good for you, with the budget for this movie we had to get the low grade stuff

if you know there’s a bug in situation, filling the bath tub with water, using that as a trough

My Non Verbatim Show Notes

Current events strategy, don’t have a tv, don’t know if that makes me a luddite

don’t like to watch news, 24 hour news cycle on tv

I like bbc service, somewhere between bbc and economist seems to be much more objective than nbc, fox

haven’t compared statistics to prior outbreaks, spanish influenza, killed a lot more people than recent outbreaks

haven’t really studied it, the new social media interfacing with that, changing the narrative or not

happened before historically, originally had state laws for mandatory vaccinations, resistances to that, if we’re talking about martial law, court cases developed since then, in the wake of that

not something I’ve studied in any detail, precedent of state being able to dictate that you must receive this or that

united states in a lot of ways is the bread basket for the world, immediate needs we’re fortunate here, more or less self sufficient with oil

we have enough food, less fortunate countries dependent on outside aid, most drastic effect on economy

grew up in wyoming, canned goods, bottled water, everything came in was fresh

I guess I have not being participated in disaster preparedness

I started going to a church, come across the minister, civic groups, 99% african american church, minister, very thoughtful definitely get good vibes from him, last sermon on book of revelations of the bible, psychedelic adventure going through hell, fragmented snakes and demons, believes we’re approaching the end times

put on the clock of god, shed the trappings of evil, you could interpret that as to how our society is so removed from any of the basic hardships that most people throughout history have suffered

huge homeless problems, but what would happen if there really were systemic disruptions of service, how would be react, bring people together, honor and helping each other

I think just about every age they’ve always thought they were going through the end times

if the gates of hell our unleashed, revelation, sun melts thing, global warming, could be something to that

what does it mean to get yourself right with god, seeing life in more spiritual terms, brush with organized church in the past hasn’t been the best, a lot of truth in the original messages, reframe in a way that doesn’t involve rape

the trauma is all around us, some of us put up walls for one reason or another, so many people in the u.s. and the world in that predicament

it’s all around us, it is now, what do we do about it

all these people that are there are us, we’re sharing in their journey, it’s still there, what responsibility does that have, do we stock pile, prepare

maybe I’m just waiting for the answer, seems like there’s something, it’s right here, homeless problem right here

it’s been bringing people in the community together, everybody feels it

haven’t been able to fashion a long range thing, does put something in the air, spawned different community groups, whether we want to face it or not it’s there, there is suffering

affects you even if you live in a gated community

facinated by christian idea of service, the simple, the old mother teresa, franciscan way of serving people, see god in everything, go to the leper colonies, serve the poorest of the poor see that those people are god

very shamanic, recognizing, we’re all part of the same body, when you take care of the people who are the most needy,

there is a lot of overlap in the fundamental christian messages and the shamanic messages that are very powerful

humans are always looking for that new thing, speaking more to myself, grew up in catholic background, new appreciation by shamanic means, entheogens,

we think we’re discovering something new, but just going back to where we’re starting from

love, peace, service, basic messages, a lot of mainline christian groups in united states, a lot of beauty in that

I have this knee jerk reaction, the church doesn’t let women participated in the priesthood, or priest telling me what to do

messages in scriptures a lot of practices beautiful

what kind of messages really resonates with me

what I think is appealing to some of the shamanic messages, why I think they’re getting more popularity in this area

when you do a medicine ceremony, shaman isn’t telling you what to do, they’re just singing a song, the icaros

if you were a leader of a church or something, not so much be pedantic, or even thinking you have a flock, that you need to pastor to, within yourself you create this music, not so much the content, but the love and the energy, such a beautiful metaphor for future leaders

not worry about telling people things, but rather just serving people, creating the music to foster people’s positive energy

seeing the god in the other person, the god within you

shouldn’t single out priests, even somebody like us on a podcast talking about stuff

struggling with in my own life, what is my truth, what is my messages, what is my song, why am I doing this podcast

started off, interested in interviewing other people, socratic method, listening to them talk, asking them questions, within interjecting my own anything, what exactly is our role as a person

two daughters, what do I tell them about how to act, do I tell them no you shouldn’t do this, how do you convey the message in your own family

just create your own song that makes people want to join in on your song, not projecting energy outward, oh I have this truth and you need to see it to, more intangible, its an energetic thing almost

I still like to go to churches to hang out and feel the energy

if you’re in a concert, when you have a group of people sharing, all able to participate, not just one person lecturing, everybody passing around the rock, participate in the dialog, share something important to them

with social media, increased connectedness learn to capitalize on that and bring it together allow people to share their own voice, without the old model the priest was leading the flock, politician leading the flock, everybody

for me its an energetic thing, not so much based on content, there is a role that you do have to say something, not just it, when I was doing zen practice, go in for an interview with the zen priest they ask you coans or different things, always one response is silence, I always kept getting prompted to say, what is your voice, can sit there a bump on a log, its your life, participate in a meaningful way, you’re not gonna reinvent the wheel

part of my practice is to become more grounded, what better way to ground than in the ground, your shit is interconnected to everything, reconnecting you to the universe, you’re not separating from it, your shit is a fertilizers that grows the food you eat in a wonderful cycle

a lot of my practices are to intentionally reconnect myself

priests, men of god, good intentions, I just had the feeling the church as a whole was resisting reconciliation with victims, law suits, that’s the way our society deals with these transgressions

it doesn’t solve the priest trauma, that they obviously experienced to propagate more trauma on the victims if the church would admit it’s fault

that really should be the mission of the church, priests are part of the divine, victims are part of the divine, perpetrators, victims alike, not to shield themselves

just say my heart goes out to everybody in that trauma cycle

Basic Preparedness and the Prepping Pyramid TPP246

Play

Basic Preparedness Prepping Pyramid
The term prepping refers to the process by which you incrementally increase your level of preparedness for emergency/disaster on a continuum from short-term self-reliance to long-term self-sufficiency.

The term preps can be defined as tangible items or systems that you acquire or build and use in prepping. While some people may include intangible things such as weapons training, drills, skill development, etc. in their definition of preps, for the purpose of this piece, the focus is on physical items.

The stereotype that survivalists live alone in underground bunkers in the middle of nowhere is rarely accurate. The media sensationalizes the extreme cases, but the reality is that a holistic family oriented survival plan involves several locations and several different scales. I’ve organized the list below in order of scale from the smallest to the largest caches of preps in a pyramidal model to represent overlapping zones.

1. Body

2. Bug Out Bag

3. Bug Out Vehicle

4. Workplace/School

5: Home

6: Bug Out Location

Body

Preppers promote taking some level of responsibility for your safety and security by not only developing self-defense, first-aid, and other survival skill sets, but by carrying implements, tools, devices, and supplies on your person at all times. Having preps on your person isn’t only so you can help yourself and your family, it’s also so you can help others in need.

What you carry on your person is often referred to as “Every Day Carry” or “EDC”. On this scale your preps will include an array of smaller survival gear items. The number of items you carry will be determined by the amount of pockets, belt accessories, carabiners, etc. you’re comfortable with. Fashion and function can be hard to reconcile, but it’s worth an attempt. Many people walk through the world without care or thought of the potential for anything to go wrong. The expectation that something bad will “never happen to me” is a symptom of what is clinically called “normalcy bias”. This is a psychological tendency to avoid considering and logically preparing for disruptions in modern business-as-usual life.

Unfortunately if we encounter bad guys on the street, chances are police won’t arrive on the scene until the incident is over. If we’re in a disaster situation, emergency medical responders may not be able to get to us in the time it takes to die or become seriously ill from preventable causes such as bleeding, dehydration, infection, etc.

Items often carried every day by preppers may include some of the following:

cutting tools, fire making tools, multi-tool, parachute cord, led light, compass, first-aid items (band-aids, alcohol pads), whistle, water purification tablets, emergency medical info card, list of emergency contacts, bandana, cell phone with additional charged battery, flash drive, notepad, writing utensil, “forever” postage stamps, prepaid phone card, cash, checks, herbal energy pills, p38 can opener, water bottle, pepper spray, misc. legal self-defense implements…

Bug Out Bag (BOB)

The “Bug out Bag”, a.k.a. “BOB”, is the survivalist slang for what is more officially known as a 72-hour emergency kit. However, the critical distinction is that a BOB must be in the form of a back-pack that can allow you to move on foot, hands-free.

On this scale of preps, you may have some of the same items that you’d have for EDC, however in greater lengths, quantities, container sizes, etc. as you’ll have the main column of the bag, plus many extra pockets, compartments, straps, clips, etc.

Here’s a list of some of the items often found in or attached to BOBs.

More fire making tools, more parachute cord, flashlight, batteries, candles, first aid kit, extra medications, hand crank/solar emergency weather radio, signal mirror, toilet paper, tweezers, toothbrush, misc. toiletries, sun block, bug spray, warm clothes (kept dry in a large zip lock bag), rain gear, gloves, hat, sun glasses, mess kit (eating dish/utensils), lightweight pot for cooking/boiling water, salt/spices, three days worth of dry food, hooks/sinkers, wild edible plant identification books, bigger water bottle, water filtration devices, 5 gallon collapsible water jug, small bottle of bleach, folding shovel, wire saw, sewing needles and floss, pen or pencil wrapped with duct tape, pen or pencil wrapped with fishing line, full size notebook, envelopes, plastic bags, garbage bags, survival manuals, entertainment devices such as books or games, documentation package (including emergency contacts, local emergency service provider phone numbers, evacuation procedures/plans/packing checklists, multiple evacuation routes, encrypted bank account, social security, etc. numbers, list of family medications/medical conditions, etc.), maps, sleeping bag, space blanket, tube tent, therma-rest pad, tarp, poly sheeting, legal self-defense tools carried in accordance with local law…

It helps to separate and categorize your items into zip-lock bags and distribute the bags into to different pockets and compartments for easy access. The bags also help keep your gear dry.

This sounds like a lot of stuff but if properly organized and compacted a lot of it can comfortably fit in/on a large camping pack. Depending on the nature of the situation, you may want to drop a lot of weight so you can cover more ground on foot. In Saving Private Ryan, the scene in which the translator joins the unit shows how a combat-inexperienced soldier tries to pack everything he was issued in his bag for the mission, and is made to leave most of it behind by his fellow soldiers. This is a useful bit of insight demonstrating that “the more you know the less you need,” and that you have to be realistic about your ability to haul more than the bare minimum.

Your normal commuting vehicle (which may or not be your “Bug Out Vehicle”) should always contain your BOB so that it will be accessible wherever you drive. Storing it in the trunk also ensures you’ll never forget it at home, and when you need to lighten the load and take a few items out, you can lock them in your trunk or locked box in a flatbed truck.

Of course if you’re riding a bus, if you are a passenger in someone else’s vehicle, or riding a bike, it won’t be feasible to bring your BOB with you. In those situations you’ll be relying on EDC, or a smaller backpack with a selection of items from your BOB depending on the situation. For example, if you’re hiking, you’d want to grab a selection of items from your BOB and put them in your day pack.

Most importantly, every member of your family should have a BOB, and every BOB should contain the same version of the documentation package. In an emergency you’ll then be able to co-ordinate your response based on documented protocols that everyone has the current printed version of.

Bug Out Vehicle (BOV)

Your “Bug Out Vehicle” may be a huge 4-wheel-drive monster or a compact car. Older diesel trucks are preferable as they have less electrical components that can fail, and they can be converted to run on veggie oil. Whatever you prefer and have the means to acquire can serve as your BOV, though traditionally it’s a truck or SUV. All that’s required is that it be stocked with extra preps and be equipped with accessories that will optimize performance and provide redundancies in evacuation scenarios.

Besides simply scaling up some of your preps (such as a 5 gallon bucket of dry food that preferably doesn’t require cooking, one or more gallons of water, a larger first aid kit, etc. the following are some preps specific to the BOV:

Flares, basic tools, spare parts (headlights, belts, bulbs, etc.), quarts of oil, extra fluids, map books, solar power system, power inverter, spare tire, snow chains, jack, blankets, tent, boots, entrenching tool, books, gas can (keep empty unless it can be stored safely and securely), more legal self-defense tools transported in accordance with local law, any other large utility/emergency items that don’t fit in or are not appropriate for your BOB.

Every family vehicle should be to some degree prepped to function as a BOV, even if there’s one larger vehicle that’s designated as the main BOV.

Workplace/School

This refers to the place where most of your time is spent outside of the home, wherever that may be. The goal would be to get your colleagues or co-workers on-board with prepping so that they collaborate and pool resources to ensure that there are preps on-site. Whether in a basement, storage closet, or under your desk you should try to get some amount of food/water/medical supply storage set up. If nothing else, try to convince whoever’s in charge to at least have emergency kits on-site that are sized appropriately for the number of people in your office, dorm, etc.

Most likely if done right, you can store a lot without it being a nuisance and have some sense of security knowing that if you end up stuck there, you won’t die of dehydration, starvation, or mild injuries.

Home

Without being too extreme, you should see your home as your fort. It’s the place where you let down your guard at night and go to sleep. It’s the place where you raise your family, or are being raised by your family. It’s where you should feel the most safe and secure, and where you should have the most control of your survival. Again, many of the prep items you’ll want at home have been listed above, but here are some preps that are unique to the home:

large water tanks, rain water catchment systems, months to years worth of long term food storage in the form of canned foods and dry foods including your favorite grains, legumes, seeds (for eating, sprouting, and planting), nuts, spices, dried herbs, dried fruits, etc. in 5 gallon bucket/mylar bag/oxygen absorber kits on a rotation system so you “eat what you store and store what you eat”, sprout jars, green house, permaculture garden (food forest if possible), irrigation systems, herbal medicine cabinet, organic recycling center (i.e. compost, vermiculture, humanure, etc), guard dog(s), livestock, food dehydrator, canning equipment, solar power system with battery bank, more legal weapons, low and high tech security systems, toiletry reserves, fuel reserves (gas, firewood, etc.), generator, full camping gear for the whole family, bigger/more specialized hand/power tools, fire-proof lock box for important documents, back up computers, back up external hard drives, lots of useful practical/instructional books and videos, cash, precious metal reserves, large self-assembled or store bought emergency kits…

Bug Out Location (BOL)

The “Bug Out Location” a.k.a. “BOL” or “survival retreat” is your ultimate destination in the case of forced or voluntary evacuation from your normal place of residence. Ideally it would be far out of the urban and suburban zones though not necessarily totally isolated. For those who can afford the luxury, the BOL is a piece of rural land that you own and have put some kind of legal temporary or permanent inhabitable structure on (trailer, teepee, yurt, cabin, house, natural building, etc.)

If you don’t have the luxury to buy land, you may discover that you have relatives living in the countryside, or friends living on farms with whom you can pre-arrange to stay with under an agreement that you’ll pay rent, or do work-trade.

No matter how you gain access to a temporary or permanent living situation for you and your family, what matters is that you have a plan in place. The plan should ensure that you have a main BOL and several fall back locations if the main location is inaccessible, and have multiple routes to each location. It’s also important to work out a system whereby if members of your family or group reach a certain rally point, there’s a predefined way to “post” inconspicuous communications about who’s reached that point, when they got there, and where they left to.

In terms of the scales of preps, the main BOL will often have the largest stockpile of preps when you factor in the ability to hide or bury large caches and the ability to establish permaculture edible forest gardens, ponds, springs, streams, swales, wood lots, wind power, solar power, micro-hydro systems, etc. Ultimately the ideal BOL would be a rural homestead. However the extent to which it’s developed by the time you need it will be determined by how much time, energy, and money you can afford to put into it while you’re not actually living on it.

In rural zones, the land itself is a prep. The more you do to prep the landscape, the more yields you’ll produce that are regenerative. In an apartment or small urban lot, you’re usually not able to access and produce renewable resources on the scale needed to be self-sufficient. Urban preps are generally only going to serve for a finite period of self-reliance until the supplies run out. It’s worth noting that in both urban and rural contexts, self-sufficiency is rarely achieved on a household level, rather it requires the functional interdependence of a small community.

Ideally if you’re “bugging out” to your BOL, you’ll have taken as many of the preps from the smaller levels of the pyramid with you so you’ll be combining preps as well.

The BOL is typically seen as the end point of the game where if you’re successful at making it there alive you’ll be relatively safe, secure, and supplied. However, most preppers acknowledge to varying degrees and extremes that to be prepared while being surrounded by the ill-prepared is a recipe for disaster. Generally, the higher the population density, the greater the risk of being jumped, besieged, or raided. So the more remote you are, the less likely the ill-prepared will be to expend the energy to find and take your provisions. There’s a trade-off though which is that the further you are from at least a small town, the fewer services are available. Also, without neighbors (who you may need to rely on to save your life someday or even just barter with) your survivability and quality of life might be diminished.

Re-Establishing a Culture of Preparedness

No individual, family, or group is an island. Ideally the largest step of the prepping pyramid would be a culture of preparedness wherein redundancy is built into every system that the population relies on for basic survival. It’s not utopian, a hundred years ago it was common sense. According to prominent prepper Stewart Rhodes in episode 602 of The Survival Podcast, “during the Cold War, this country had enough grain to feed all of its people for three years in the event of a nuclear winter, now they have enough to feed all of us half a loaf of bread.”
Our ancient and recent ancestors had the wisdom to live by the ways of the ant, not the grasshopper (see Aesop’s fable “The Ant and the Grasshopper”). In the modern survivalist movement, it’s accepted that winter is coming again as it has in the past and will in the future.
Apocalypse would be an easy way out, but in all likelihood, the world will continue to cycle with nature, not end. We’ll have to choose to be prepared. Moreover, it doesn’t take TEOTWAWKI (“the end of the world as we know it”) for any individual or family to experience an acute localized disaster. Be it a job loss, an injury, death of a loved one, etc, when the s**t his hit your fan, it’s your preps that will carry you through in a state of relative comfort and help buffer desperation.

Jack Spirko of The Survival Podcast has provided numerous planning and strategy tools such as the “threat probability matrix” and notion of “disaster commonality” (see episode 166) to help people identify the threats that are most likely to occur in their personal lives, location, climate, etc. and understand that in many ways the fundamental preps and planning needed to survive anything from the “mundane to the insane” are the generally the same.
It’s important while prepping to be creative and make it fun-based not fear-based. Thanks to the modern survival movement there’s a fail-safe principle built-in which essentially states that whatever you do to be prepared for disaster should improve your quality of life whether or not s**t hits the fan! The best example is growing some portion of your own food.

Just avoid panic buying. As with Permaculture the best solutions are small and slow. Continually incrementally add to your preps when grocery items go on sale, when you get extra cash, when you can score something on Craigslist, when there’s a yard sale, etc. Start small, make it fun, get into the groove and you’ll enjoy having a more sensible lifestyle that actually empowers you to be an evermore safe, secure, confident, and dutiful cosmic citizen, community member, and family member.

My (non verbatim) notes:

TP: Jessica Moon, old dear friend, along the ride of tantra punk journey since very beginning around 2013, was shocked to find that name hadn’t already been turned into some sort of persona online, hopefully I’ve done my best

she’s way beyond a supportive friend, an inspiration, somebody who’s kept me on a very ethical and conscious path, has given me lots of great feedback

talk about her path, eco psychology, forest bathing, many ways to look at benefits of spending time in nature, deep personal journeys of long distance hiking

extra bonus, you might recognize her silky voice as the voice of the outro on all of my episodes, does a wonderful job of doing the wrap up details, its a treasure to have that mystery voice be on the podcast

JM: working on getting people outdoors, help people see benefits of being immersed in nature, millennials , anyone can benefit, remove barriers to help people really benefit

start when I younger and in college I was a sexual health peer mentor for my university, worked with my peers to educate them on health topics, disseminated health and hygiene products through the outreach center, help become more empowered

after graduated, joined nature center, help plan ecological programs and events, natural conservation for the city, got to work with variety of people

it was a very beautiful experience to be intimately connected with these people, very active motivated hikers, some people who’d never spent time even at a park

really wanted to help people have a more enjoyable, more intimate experience with natural world

then got into corporate world, for about 5 years, it was good to learn a lot of skills, but definitely aching, stress, heaviness of not having that immersion that I used to have

caught up in career, societies idea of success, lost connection with self, deep connection with natural world

year, decided to hike pacific crest trail, had been training, reconnecting with mountains, beaches, when I took the leap, and left for the trail, such a transformation from being immersed in the wilderness, back country for 5 months, feel completely at peace now that I’ve had that experience, affirmed, not everybody can take that much time off their life

but any amount of time is so beneficial, now that I’m back, into the science, philosophy, how to get more nature time into our busy lives, liberating motivating

TP: want to get into the drama of this whole arch of preparing, doing some permaculture the other day, mentioning we were gonna talk about this, the PCT, how do people survive, you can’t bring a semi truck water tank that drives behind you, what are the amenities on the trail, he said people will send selves care packages, I don’t really have a clue

JM: the resupply logistics, first, instead of one really long trip, think of as series of 3 to 5 day, sometimes more than 7 days depending on snow, how quick you hike, generally 3 to 5 days, given that , hiker hunger, metabolism working so hard, never felt hunger like that before, if you think about it as you’re going town to town, long series of small backpacking trips, you can self packages ahead of time, my strategy was I resupplied in town, if you’re lucky, supermarkets, sometimes just gas station, generally you know, or if you didn’t ask around, anticipate that, if you go get into a town with a big grocery store, buy food, ship it forward, only did for really small towns, didn’t want to eat pop tarts and snicker bars, backpacking food, if you don’t go really expensive route, has a lot more nutrients compared to options like instant ramen, after a while, can’t eat this any more, try to mix it up, hit up bulks, blessing to find bulk section, keeping an open mind, would have been hard if I had any dietary restrictions if I was vegan or gluten intolerant, I would have done more sending myself ahead of time, its really not that much cheaper or convenient to send yourself the boxes ahead of time, you’re tastes change

you don’t have a car, last thing you want to do is walk more

TP: from prepper survivalist world, lot of people in fantasy land, vision of how their gonna be so fit, prowess, bad ass, when zombie apocalypse happens, but they’re not conditioning in the mean time, but the experience of doing this endurance drill, makes me think everything has to be so tightly economized, efficiency, variables to consider, you’re probably better prepared for anything to go wrong, then people who make a whole life style out of being a prepper, tripping me out

could you tell me about some of the sort of dietary life hacks that you came up with, as some one doing this frugally, out of necessity, on a budget, how to have healthy food and not junk food

JM: does take a toll, body type can’t just eat anything, when I was on trail, I was like omg I can eat chips and candy, I really felt terrible, I really need to take care of myself, I was like okay I really need to change the trajectory of my nutrition, took a lot of supplements, glucosamine , multivitamin, try to pick up juice shakes, I needed that because when you’re on the trail, you have to consider weight right, weight expense and convenience

for example, you can get tuna packets, just a staple for hikers, thing about them, not terribly expensive, but not cheap either, on cost, in the circle of the through hikers, most people agree it’s about $1000 a month, on a tighter budget its possible to hike less, you’re gonna be spending less time in town, if you’re a social person its a fun part of the experience to explore the town

if you’re on a tight budget its definitely possible to do the hike on less, buy the food in bulk previously

dehydrating food at home and sending forward, people get sick of the same food, but you can spend a lot more on the trail as well, stay in hotel, one bed vs 6 hikers, or alcohol, or deserts, depends on person, average person not super luxurious is about $1000, barrier to entry is not accessible to everybody, it is a big trip, felt very privileged that I had opportunity

TP: bullet points, staple macro nutrients, can feel you on the weight and price, on that path as urban survivalist, trying to figure out what my pallet will enjoy and what my guts will handle, I could have the most Bourgeoisie, organic fresh catered diet to the maximum degree of what I know is the ideal, but if I did that I wouldn’t be able to do anything else, joke about “whole paycheck”

but I do believe in my heart of hearts that there are life hacker ways to have extreme frugality, but have extreme nourishment, bulk, group buys, I’m curious for you, fats, proteins, carbohydrates in that framework, stuff you could tolerate the longest, didn’t make you sick, sweet spot of weight and cost, ramen doesn’t cut it

JM: biggest thing for me, that I bough dehydrated vegetables, basically a soup mix, in bulk, just add it to everything, find the vegetables that you like, if you have a dehydrator, I would say incorporating vegetables into your diet no matter what, can eat dried meat, jerky, bison bars, sausage, tuna or chicken pouches, but if you just have that, you’re lacking that balance,

really enjoyed dried, pre prepared beans, really not that expensive, compared to bison bar, or higher end nut butters, just dried beans, make sure they’ve been dehydrated as cooked beans, they’re like bean flakes, if you’re vegan or something, or if body can’t tolerate fat anymore, its really high fat out there, powered humus also an option

sunflower seeds are really cheap

also drink powders, couldn’t handle the sugar, protein powders keep you full

cheeses work really well, lactose intolerant, but a popular lunch was a flour tortilla, summer sausage, and hard cheese

things like spam, powdered eggs, dehydrated milk, I really enjoyed dried veggies, dried fruits

chilli mangos was a treat, new technologies for much lighter, dehydrated and freeze dried veggies and fruits

really liked raw stuff, everything was so dry, and processed, but things like nutritional yeast, everything but the bagel package, sauce packets, miso soup, chicken noodle soup, powdered taco mix

lots of sodium and preservatives, but they’re light, cheap, last a long time, if in a pinch they have something to offer

I just bit the bullet and got green juices, or super food mixes whenever I could afford it

avoid ramen, so many other things available, entire bagels, last for a few days, instant rice and potatoes, always a staple, nan flat bread, corn tortillas don’t last very well, whole slices of bread, couscous was really popular

you have you’re good old trail mix, mixing it up and making it different, you really start to despise it

TP: shifting into more paleo and keto trend if you will, and so I’ve been experimenting a lot with build seeds, grinding into a more palettable form, powdered tahini, from bulk sesame seeds, grinding down to pumpkin seeds, mixing with coconut oil, like bread and butter, get that experience but it’s low carb, more protein, then having that fat, thinking about weight factor

were people bringing tubs of coconut oil or was it just too much weight, olive oil or other oils, calorie dense but you can’t eat that that much of it

JM: lots of oil, add a scoop of coconut oil to your meal, delicious, add more calories, seen people carrying full glass bottle of hot sauce, to spice things up, seen someone carry a glass jar of coconut oil

when for lighter right

went for single use coconut packets, a light way to incorporate into meals, trying to avoid highly processed carbs, I don’t make me feel that great

nuts, sunflower seeds, chia hemp and flax seeds also in my diet

they’re just delicious

TP: sprouting seeds and recycling water?

JM: read about a woman who sprouted just in a tupperware, poked holes, put a piece of cheese cloth, had fresh greens all week

broccolli, peas, lentils, alfalfa, also there was a time where there was a bunch of rain, miners lettuce foraging in oregon, what if I just threw some of that in to my ramen

TP: what level of foraging is legal/desirable, plant ID nerds, not gonna survive 100% but hope they wouldn’t be too restrictive about that kind of stuff

JM: I really can’t say, if we’re allowed to, it’s a protected trail, but in oregon you have to have a permit to forage for wild mushrooms, also, I definitely eat the huckleberries on the trail that were everywhere, just so many

TP: some things are invasive too, its a benefit

JM: thank you these giant berries we’re going into the trail

if I had a little more confidence in local flora and fauna, know for sure you can’t hunt, if it was permissible I’d totally lead a group, let’s get launch, wild mustard, miners lettuce, local invasive plants, didn’t have personal experience foraging, other than the berries

TP: people not yet in romance with nature yet, remember when I didn’t feel a romance with nature, grew up playing in woods, at the beach, wasn’t a deep yearning to connect with something I’d never known, didn’t feel deprived, took it for granted, video games started to eat my childhood, I don’t want to say disenchanted, I can commiserate with the people who feel like they feel more excitement from video games, socializing, hipster strips, when go out to nature I’m bored, cynical earlier in life, then rekindled romance through gardening, seeking healing, would love to have you in your words, help people feel into the shifts and transformation and deep soul tissue healing that’s happening, if you could romanticize the journey

JM: I think just to start it off, if you’re not in love, or find yourself bored, but you’re stressed out, want to work on health, nurture it better, just like to share, some of the research that is, where we are right now with nature immersion is where yoga was, in terms of more mainstream, widespread, growing body of research combined with intuitive understanding, tipping point, health researchers, government, very progressive, bring nature to people’s every day lives, it can lower stress hormone levels, reduce nervous system arousal, enhance immune system function, decrease anxiety, improve mood, help with aggression, accelerate healing

highly stimulated in this world now, if you want to try, give it a chance, big study, 20k people, people who spent 2 hours a week in green spaces, parks, neighborhood with a ton of trees, just hanging out and removing yourself from urban environment, traffic, noise, any kind of natural environment, either all at once or spaced out, like taking 10 minutes on launch break, fresh air, giving self space

attention restoration theory, allows brain to restore, allows cognition, your brain giving it space and time to relax, when you go back to desk or work, cognition levels are much better

little things like that, if you’re not someone who gets super excited, its such an easy thing, give yourself 10 minutes, 2 hours a week spread out, try it

when we make something important, our health, mental health, emotional states, spiritual states, at very least, relax and think, relax and not think, taking time to do that, make it important, have that connection with natural space it will begin to show itself to you

a friend that is not trying to tell you what to do with your life, or unsolicited advice, they’re just there, allow you to work through whatever you’re going through

natural world all of the patterns that exist in that space are things that as humans we’ve evolved with, all very familiar

one quote I really love, from scientist who was a pioneer for forest bathing Japan, “we are visually fluent in the patterns of the natural world, because we evolved in the scenery of the natural world we can process its patterns easily, it is this fluency that relaxes us”

TP: stress less, talk to the nature painting, talk to the landscape

JM: with my own business, researching so much, why isn’t this more popular, why isn’t this more well known

allow attention to restore our brains, to chill out, thinking tests better, in New York, some crazy busy place, even just looking at pictures of nature, videos, listening, put on headphones listen to nature sounds

all of that is beneficial, so it’s like why not

not the most stimulating, in terms of instant gratification, but if you make your health, mental health, emotional state, a priority, 10 minutes a day for you to level up

TP: PSA for gamers, as of just very recently Santa Cruz has joined Oakland, decriminalize entheogenic plants and fungi, the whole suite of plant derived entheogens, still federally highly regulated, but just like cannabis, this movement is growing very fast, #decriminalizenature, I feel like for me what shift was the romance with nature 10xed when I started to integrate dancing in the garden with psychedelics, because all of that dopamine you’d get from slaying dragons in a video game world, you’ll be that thrilled just watching the flow of nature, and being a part of it, and doing your own shadow work, and having nature spirits help you with that

don’t want impose that narrative on our work

JM: hemp will save the world environmentally

TP: what are some of the more cinematic moments

JM: very very beautiful views are conducive of these type of moments, knowing that when you’re looking out on this beautiful landscape, mountain peaks, feel very small, but very connected, look out and see all these pieces of me, subatomic particles, everything is me, and I am it, really grounding type of experience to have, look out, wow all the issues I’m struggling with or limiting factors, or negative head space, all that just dissipates, because you put things into perspective, look into the night sky, see the stars, and you just, sense of awe, and admiration, and deep respect, when you are just so connected, just in tune

TP: I feel that, live for those vistas, any times where equipment failed, or got soaked, freezing, suffer through a night, moments of triumph

JM: I would say nature is cruel but powerful mistress, so like, in the same way that it will guide me into this revelation about absolute awe adoration, at the same time I’ve been cold, and hungry, and so defeated, but I think those are the moments when we’re struggling, going through change, extreme internal conflict due to weather and terrain, you’re able to grow, I have so much respect for nature, those experiences teach you how to tap into your grit, drive is more important than intrinsic motivation, which is fleeting, tap into own tenacity, hardship

when things are gravy at home, stressed out from work or life, but physically when you are drenched, no placed to put your tent, or snow, post holing thigh deep, on side of mountain gotta get off but sun is setting

even just being out there and pushing yourself is honestly the best way to make a transformation, quickest and most impactful way

meditation is very powerful and important, but holy moly I just did that, very immediate evolution when you experience that kind of physical challenge

just think about it, anytime you get pummeled in the ocean, I respect you so much, I will not through trash in you, I’m just a naked human, a flesh bag

TP: break up, death of loved own, quitting smoking or drinking, seems like any kind of major shift or transition even if its just a week, sounds like you’re a great person to be an evangelist for this, and it’s not a pill that you just take and pay big pharma to have you on a pill for the rest of your life, hopefully get off anti-depressants, I can feel that

we’ll have you back to talk more about your business, thought about doing meet ups, I was just exposed to night hiking, maybe we’ll be looking forward to what you have to offer, more than welcome to promote

JM: for now, instagram up, jessicamoonco on instagram, hoping to launch officially next month if you are stressed out, want some mindfullness guidance and encouragement to get out doors, definitely check me out, jessicamoon.co forthcoming

TP: heart ached when you told me you were in a corporate career, didn’t hear the exhuberance in your voice when you told me about it, glad it served you well for business administration, training for solopreneur, blessings to everyone who thrives in that environment, having known you at the peak of your youthful enthusiasm for exploration and breaking rules and being a rebel, I’m so thrilled to know that everything is coming full circle for you.

I had similar story of it being incongruent with spirit/soul being in a cubicle, but knowing when I was in corporate environment I was mining the experience so I wouldn’t just be a broke ass hippy, I’d know how to take a penny and make two pennies with out

JM: thank you so much for having me, thank you so much for your attention and hope we can get out doors, level up, hope you have a beautiful week

TP: been a treasure and blessing, much love to you and all your beloveds

Joan Rivers Reality Tv Show Permaculture Installation

In this episode I tell an epic survival romance story to commemorate victims of the coronavirus and urge folks to do their best to prepare for this and all threats to their survival…

Please listen to this episode for practical preparedness tips:
Basic Preparedness and the Prepping Pyramid TPP246

My (non-verbatim) Show Notes:

2012 respected consultant on emergency and disaster preparedness and permaculture design

my partner and I landed a well paid gig for permaculture /preparedness survival make over for Joan Rivers’ Joan Know’s Best reality tv show, rest in piece, rest her soul, amazing important wise elder matriarch of the entertainment industry

honor and blessing to work very closely with her, for that day of shooting, brought out big stake truck, moved our chicken tractor, and mini pond, and mini herb spiral, faux backyard permaculture set up

there had been an earthquake in la, mild but enough to feel it, a few things fall of the wall, they might have captured footage of it during the reality tv show filming, the producers after that real earthquake said, we should actually do a subplot within an episode on disaster preparedness, what it would look like for Joan, daughter and grand son to do an emergency prep process

they had a scene showing they needed batteries for flash lights, doing intuitive inventory of what you need to survival, if there was a disruption of systems of support, critical services cut off, would you be able to render your own first aid, provide food water shelter clothing, they got footage of the family going through the motions seeing how unprepared they were

they went to an amazing local survival equipment wholesaler/retailer, it was like disney land for preppers, they were a company they supplied first aid kits, fire extinguishers, water storage tanks, tools, camping gear, I could go on, their catalog was like porn for me, you go in there and wish you could buy everything, just want to live there, if you were an employee and shit hit the fan you’d be stoked, they should have had guns though, maybe someone should establish a gun store right next door to defend it in a shift hit the fan

so I was living out this romance novel story out on this land, peak of a man’s love life, beautiful romance, crashed and burned in a very archetypal and mythical the arch of the whole relationships, set foot on her property to establish permaculture systems which she had wanted for years, just didn’t have the right person to help, there was an opportunity she put out to the spiritual community that she had this land and wanted to make it productive, I hit her up and said this is what I’ve been trained to do and I’d be happy just to have a place to pitch a tent

it was the end of 2011, lots of 2012 energy, wow if I could be bugged out on some land in the mountains where you’re tucked away in the wood lands, less zombie pressure, higher income bracket, going from where I was at the time, when I met her I had been doing an urban survival permaculture training center garden, I built on top of an parking lot at a big punk warehouse artist colony venue

I developed the rugged outdoor survival life style, in the middle of south central la, surrounded by gangs

I wasn’t trying to scam on her, wasn’t hitting on, it just kinda happened, I was attracted, I respected her, she was almost 20 years older, loved the heck out of her, we did beautiful things together

I was grateful to get the fuck out of the urban center, it was sweet spot, in the mountains, but sill close enough to the city to do gigs and stay in my band

but I wanted to live on the land focus on the land, first building my little camp, sproutables as stable food, I still have embarrassing footage of documenting the projects as they went along

as I got my camp established I started to make a masterpiece out of the land, did the permaculture design, set up composts, garden beds, earth works

this was my dream, that I had been cooped up literally in urban projects, now I got to have this giant canvas

I was filled with love and light, and at the peak of virility

I can’t help getting into the romance, we had this banter, it was quite charming

very much the as you wish, sweet wesley, princess butter cup, princess bride kinda thing she’s like a millionairess, owning her property, in a house that she built with her ex-husband, and with their ill-fated marriage and divorce left her with the house all to herself

a shamanic priestess in her own right, I was drawn for the ceremonial opportunities happening there

at one point she had been developing feelings for me, I begun my tantric path and was resolute in being open and non monogamous, doing long trial periods and setting up agreements where we put leases on each other’s bodies, not just permanent access, it’s gonna be metered out and we’re gonna hold true to contracts

that’s not the most romantic part of the story, sorry that’s my virgo, living and learning hard lessons of getting trapped in toxic relationship situations

she was thrilled to see her property come to life, thrilled clip fresh greens, harvest chicken eggs, she was a crack chef, holistic lavish parties

she was healing, in a cycle of healing with some issues that forced her to stop working, she was really actually, for me to come in there at a time where she had so much liquid capital for so many decades of her professional career, and I get there, having come out of the south central punk ghetto, having really figured out survival, minimalism, living outside, I had just come out of that sort of self imposed ranger school if you will, in some ways very extreme and comparable to that, in some ways I’m doing a disservice to ranger school graduates by saying that

I had seen of the colony reality show seasons, sophisticated social experiments, group of volunteers, strangers, with skill sets, put into social experiment of urban survival post disaster, constructed scenario, global pandemic outbreak, they were put into a survival theme park, they peppered in all these different tools and supplies and equipment, had to ration food, solar power, water purification, latrine, living quarters, defend perimeter, it was like a survival obstacle course staged by the producers, of course they hyped the sexual drama and politics, lots of stage, but overall done very well, really brought out patriarchal douche bag in one of the characters, they probably played it up but this guy played a real jerk, if they had a yogi there and they got that guy chilled the fuck out they would have been happier

I was fresh off the urban survival experience and watching the colony season, I wanted to put myself through that, the experience of deprivation, like a full time drill, I was on extremely tight budget, I was very very very poor financially, that was part of the drill, it made it all work

she was brought down to my level even though she owned property, the cost of heating that place, the water bill, commuting, family expenses, it was stress inducing, so for me to be able to come in there with very sophisticated simple and elegant techniques for living frugality, eating sprouts every night, and what I called ben feed, own trail mix, not paleo and bad for teeth and gut though, thought it was great that was no added sugar, but too much carb and dried fruit sugar, so not the best wisdom at that stage, but able to subsist

sprouting grains and legumes make them healthier, less toxic, less carbs

so between fresh chicken eggs every morning, fresh greens and herbs eventually fruits and some berries

I pretty much brought sustenance to her from my humble 5 gallon buckets and mylar bags, I was nourishing her and providing for her and at that everyday it was like farm boy fetch me a bowl of sprouts, as you wish

it led to a moment where she was commiserating with a couple of fellow elder priestesses about her empty love life, and I walk by them, when they saw me and they heard her talking about her woes, they said that’s your man, he’s right here on your doorstep

when we sat together and talked love the first time, I said, something to the effect that I’m like a reference book at the library, you have to share me

another thing she said was that she did test me though, there was an epic project that had to be and I knocked it out for her, and that was part of it too

also she said she fell in love with me when she saw me leading a group of other men repairing her teepee,

she seemed to have been sniffing out the alpha pheromone, though I’m not overtly alpha in terms of being agro or competitive

I felt it for her and she felt it for me, and it was negotiated to be openish, we had a sacred contract ultimately for a period of months of monogamy

we were successful, she was the sales and marketing and spokes model and I was the inventor, builder, introverted, designer, not people person

she was extraverted, our videos still exist where you can see how charming she is

it was the peak of our romance and success together, me building my wares and her selling them, legally registered by new cottage food law

cottage food paradigm shift

we were one of the first, we were rockin, had permaculture workshops, I was in the process of starting an officially recognized permaculture design course with a novel at-your-own-pace format for low income people

we had meet ups, workshops, other instructors coming in, weddings, we sold 150 amaranth seedlings to a wedding production as wedding gifts to all the attendees, can’t imagine how prolific those plants have been, amaranth is my spirit plant

glorious achievements, romance novel come to life

we started going to classes at that survival equipment store, I got my first aid training there, we went there together

we also did the cert training at the local fire station together

we were getting into tactical permaculture, vision of creating seed pellets to be used in airsoft guns so that you would know by what was planted where the kill zones were, better avoid where all the wild flowers were clustered

we had a legitimate, top tier tactical training marksman involved with the project, we started to draft out the ultimately survival permaculture tactical theme park design, motes, edible perimeter defense like sugar cane, blackberries, imagine stick fighting training with sugar cane, or chewing on your night stick while being a warrior defending your goddess temple community, sugar cane staff, for a bit of extra blood sugar if you need to run or fight, imagination runing wild, but it was starting to happen, archery, martial arts training gear, kicking post in the office, talk about warrior goddess temple, permaculture goddess temple, the whole 9 yards, a lot of people have beautiful memories of the time as well, it was epic

so we had started to work with the survival store, and one of our sex magic rituals yielded the mascot of the brand I had established years ago

she had to reel me in and tone done my zombie apocalypse rhetoric, she advised some re-edits on my basic preparedness manual to take out the zombie talk, smoothed out the edges so she could see to other high class soccer moms

I rebranded a more family friendly business card, and the survival store had the business card on their bulletin board, her handy work of getting the business card out to people

so the Joan River’s production crew searched for survival training, found the store, went there and asked if they do home consulting/installation, I believe they said no, but oh here’s this business card from those nice friendly homesteader folks that shop here and trainer here, so they gave the production staff the business card

we got a call, I didn’t even know who Joan River’s was, I think she got the call, and she seemed keyed up, of course Joan has a big place in my heart since space balls, but I didn’t know her name

she was like hey they want to pay us to do this thing on the show, there were some things they were pushing on that I thought would be poor representation, I was worried that we’d be made fun of, make a joke of, and my colleagues would tear me apart of I miss represented the art and science to the masses, preppers and permies can be pretty vicious in terms of political correctness, and one-upmanship, ego bullshit,

but I decided to go along with it, nothing was a huge violation of the principles and science, one thing I really didn’t like but let it slide

I don’t think I’ll burn in hell for selling out

the shoot went well, the chemistry was great, we lucked out, because it was 50/50 if we were gonna be the laughing stock, if you’re Joan Rivers’ laughing stock and she’s gonna bully you mercilessly with her lines, you’d have to have thick skin, I expected since were the crazy wingnut survival freaks, doing this backyard makeover

ultimately it worked out well, in our favor, because the whole series was that Joan had moved in with her daughter to drive her crazy and try to control her life with her humor and divaness, that was the premise of the whole show

it worked in our favor because Joan was authentically on board with us, she got it, she asked about our backgrounds, I said I’ve been a survivalist since I was on the street as a young teenager, saw dark things and had to learn to survive

and my partner grew up more holistic, ranch, rustic, agricultural life, farmer relatives, americana

we clicked so Joan even said you look good together, the most golden compliment you can ever get, what can’t you do if you can impress Joan river’s visually that was a huge compliment all thought one of her staff thought I was my partner’s son, lots of funny moments

they have a whole day of footage and only use a few minutes

so joan hires us to do the consultation and backyard make over and she’s thrilled and gung ho to have us appear to be tearing up the lawn, we’re going to be growing vines all over the place, build a chicken run, turn the pool into a living edible natural pond and fish farm, and so the great thing was that joan was totally on board with everything and stoked and gung ho, and the antagonism was with her daughter

the lines that joan said I couldn’t have paid her a trillion dollars to say, about when the shit hits the fan the neighbors are gonna be lined up down the block to get my eggs, we’re gonna be sustainable, and she was sincere, she was old enough to have a clue about self sufficiency and hard times

it was a beautiful experience, here we are now years later, 8 years later, no longer in that relationship, no longer on the property, I can only hope since we parted was in a pretty ugly meltdown, I love to hope we’d be able to not rekindle but reminisce on what was mostly good

it was pretty acute collapse at the very end after wild success in love and business and the sky being the limit, if what we did for joan rivers was good enough for her even as a joke that’s a pretty good endorsement, we did we teach for the local government emergency committees

got a business loan, we had a mascot, a brand, we were selling buckets of survival food, sprouting kits, trainings, its damn shame, it all comes down to monogapathic behavior, she could follow the letters of our agreement which gave me freedom to be a healer

I told her I was gonna be a yoni worshiper and healer and that’s my path and training before we met, and you’re gonna have to come to terms with that, it doesn’t mean that I’m even that I’m having sex with anyone I may be touching people they may be touching me, that’s where I really fine tuned my deal with women, looking at what are the actually permanent irreversible risks to having an open relationship, incurable stis, sexually transmitted infections, that’s the only permanent way of affecting negatively a primary partner that you have, you’ll heal a broken heart, you’ll get over feeling upstaged and deprioritized, if there’s longevity and strength and security in the relationship, everything else that’s emotional you’ll heal from even it seems so traumatic, what you can’t escape from is incurable stis, to me I say, my deal is like look what we have to design around is that one thing and we can have our hearts open as wide as we want, and our legs spread and our pants off, to the world of everyone else, as long as we understand and acknowledge that how much faith do we really place in just using condoms, do we have boundaries around outercourse, or dry sex, or non fluid bonded sex, there’s ways to intelligently avoid the risk of stis, I know this breaks some hearts, and there were times when I was not willing to reciprocate this in my younger life, but by then I had realized the beauty and the nourishment of a diverse sexual, romantic, and sensual cornucopia of lovers, and patients and clients for healing, and friends, and the idea that would sacrifice all of that to keep one person from losing their mind, it was a horrific melt down of her feeling like she was losing me and losing control of me, I take full responsibility for what I did that was inappropriate, immature, not of high moral character in the process of how this went down,

we would still be friends, we would still together I would still be on that land, still be taking care of the trees I planted, all the life I brought to that land, I would still be stewarding that and would still be in her words the man of the land and we’d still be living happily ever after

I was showing her through my permitted actions what I needed to be happy, fulfilled, and doing my dharma

it came down to one moment that really shifted for me when I started to really branch out, it wasn’t because I was bored with her or sick of her

there was a video that was shot, my experience of modeling for a camera to do tantric session work with a total stranger to me in that day, when I saw myself in that footage, I’m not vane at all I have the least vanity about my appears, I feel unphotogenic, and as JS said, I have a face made for radio,

its not just oh im shy about it, I really break the lens from a lot of angles and I know that, I design my content with that in mind, its not like oh I need to be a star now but when I saw the video, tantra for couples using the five sense

I saw the energy, the level of focus, such a fan of Jean Claude Van Damme, loved his controlled, metered, measured, self contained manner, from spiritual practice and martial arts practice, the refined shiva healing energy you could see it in the grace of my movements

I may not be a 10 on the surface, with big muscles, perfect teeth, perfect smile, photogenic, a-list actor material, that didn’t matter, I could consider myself a 6 on the surface and what was beneath the surface was resonating and emanating so beautifully to my soul, I can really do this work and have it be really compelling, this really does confirm that this is my calling and my path, and remain open

I’ve never cheated, I’ve prenegotiated or precommunicated my intentions, ended one relationship before having sex with a new person, I’ve cheated emotionally if you want to use that dirty word that id on’t like at all, I’ve indulged myself in pleasures with other people emotionally that I didn’t communicate or invite my current primary partner to be a part of and for them to wonder about that was painful for them, still not technically a cheater, I have not hooked up with someone and had sexual intercourse with them without previously ended the relationship before them, I have that gold star on my shoulder for not being a cheater,

but she was not gonna go by the original agreements that we had even though I was not willing to renew the sacred contract, she could have had her take and ate it too, it was just really sad, if she would have been able to share tiny slices of the cake with the understanding that I would not be jeopardizing her health, and that I could have the discipline either not to do anything that could involve transmission of stis, or have barriers, or have testing done, there’s just so many ways that you can navigate that one ultimate deal breaker and there was just no negotiation whatsoever, so it melted down in a very rapid and ugly manner, maybe some day she’ll be on the podcast to ball break me back on that

it was a power couple par excellence, we were doing business together, living together happily, it was really tragic and sad that that happened, I guess this was the time for that story to come out, its relevant to current events because that was the peak of me teaching survival and preparedness, obviously I haven’t stopped living that way since I left, I’ve always maintained ample food, water supplies, first aid, kept healthy and fit, glued to the news, evacuation routes, positioned advantageous in terms of zombies, my career path collapsed losing that space, I still sold some supplies and kits, it really stopped when I had the sexual shamanic spiritual emergency, all that is to say it’s been 8 years since I was at that peak and I have done my solo survival, haven’t been imposing it on people either, roomates, that don’t give a fuck thinks you’re paranoid, every prepper knows what that feels like, family, co-workers, getting people on board its painful for everybody, and it takes those moments of oh there was an earthquake oh shit who do we call, now its time to take him seriously

it’s like you’re crazy paranoid prepper until one moment when the lights go out or there’s a tremor then I’m the savor, whatever, honestly we are like ambulance chasers, its like oh now you’re ready okay what do you have to put on the table, how much money will you put towards buffering this for next time, because it could be the next one big time

so anyone paying attention to the coronavirus outbreak, it will have an official name soon, exposing corruption in government response, digital quarantines, limited by gps, apocalypse 2.0 its crazy, studying this, trying to be ahead of it, maybe I’ll be one of the first to go, you never know, you could be the strongest person, with muscle, and twist an ankle and die in 3 minutes without air, 3 hours without shelter, 3 days without water, 3 weeks without food, 3 months without love

those are your enemies and that is the battlefield, those time frames of conditions that can kill you so I could go at any time, all of my preps could be nullified by anything

but I have done my homework and due diligence, to have a clue and be woke about this stuff

now is the time for people who are having that acute moment of waking up to the vulnerability and all of our taken for granted, normalcy bias, it can’t happen to me

still cognitive dissonance around this virus, I don’t have the medical knowledge to have a strong opinion or a lot of facts to back up any claims about how scared anyone should be where ever they are, I know the places in the world where this is being taken very seriously, that is the sci apcalyptic experience, where everything that preppers do to be ready to either quarantine themselves, or escape the quarantine but do it ethically and go somewhere where you will be ethically quarantining yourself, but to be rounded up in camps is the preppers last, that is the ultimate thing to avoid, you’re subject to rape, search and seizure, being exposed to the virus, exposed to risk of incarceration if you resist or don’t comply, state’s measures are very corrupt

chinese doctor tried to alarm officials of the virus, is now dead of the virus, and was forced by police to sign some fake confession that he was fraudulently alarming the public

there’s been all kinds of fuckery in every country around these kinds of things

I’m not telling anyone to panic, it’s just for me, the modifications that I will make to my lifestyle are pretty minimal because I try to stay away from crowds anyway, I try to do more fist bumps than hand shakes, and when I hear some body snivel or cough I got into a controlled, germaphobic, hypochondriac high alert mode, of don’t touch your face, you can scratch your eye with your knuckle, your knuckle doesn’t touch door knobs, and when you cough and sneeze you can do it in your elbow

I’m not giving medical advice, for myself I look at this and go okay this is cycle of opportunity for me to preach and teach about basic preparedness, I guess what I will do to not be too heavy handed, I’ll put a link in the show notes to the podcast episode I did where I read that basic preparedness manual that has pretty much all of the fundamental procedural building blocks of how you can be better prepared for anything, when the shit hit’s your fan , not the fan

job loss, injury, cut off from income, its not just end of the world event that’s going to force you to institute your procedure and protocols for preparedness It could be something simple

it’s not gonna become the zombie apocalypse show, but it’s the right time to tell that story, so many mythical moments, I loved that woman, I loved that land, for a farm boy like me, that’s as good as it gets, it’s a damn shame the way it went down, but if I’m 80 years old in rocking chair and people ask me what some of the peaks of my life were, I’ll be like well, I’ll tell you story next time there’s a little tiny earthquake that makes you want to prepare for the next one, or next time there’s an outbreak I ‘ve got a story for you, this will be the story I tell

survival and preparedness getting back to the land it can be romantic it can be beautiful it can only get more polyamorous, it can only get less monogapathic, but for all intents and purposes if it was good enough for joan rivers, hopefully what I’m saying is good enough for you, to want to say yeah, what am I gonna wipe my ass with if there’s not a sycamore tree near by and I’m out of toilet paper, how am I going to look at ways to improve and enhance the number of gallons of water that I’m storing on site because a gallon per person for day is a low estimate of what you’d want to have if you were cut off from the main, or the main supply is contaminated, I think it’s worth it to take this moment to really figure out what strategies you may need to have in place

if martial law at any scale or you could just by happenstance, they’re quarantining people now all over the world, different directness of exposure to this virus, for all I know, for all you know, we could find out tomorrow that you were in a place where somebody had a confirmed case, then you’d get a knock on your door, and get taken away, don’t quote me, I’m not making official public service announcements, I take this very seriously, I ain’t going out like that if I can help

like everything else, it too shall pass, but even if it doesn’t graze your life and doesn’t put a dent in your routine, it’s a moment to commemorate

how often do you put yourself through the meditation of lights out, food supply cut off, income cut off, possibly being injured, possibly being infected, being affected by a war zone, unexpected disruptions in all that you take for granted on a daily basis

if you meditate on the vedic pantheon, you should also meditate on shitting hitting the fan, and shit hitting your fan

there was a guy who was the closest thing to a purple breathing hippie yoga master tantric on the survival podcast

there’s an anti-woo-woo bias, as you can imagine by the more conservative, libertarian, and to some extent more christian ranks of the survival movement, yet there is this interesting interplay of the bush hippie and jar head, the bromance, I’m in that dance

but there was this hardcore survivalist prepper yogi on the survival podcast, I’ll be reaching out to that guy

this coronavirus is a catalyst to do your drills, check your inventory, audit your physical preps and your plans, your protocols and procedures, and just be ready for things to get possibly worse, because of this virus or any other viruses, this is just another not so friendly reminder, goddess bless all the souls who’ve already passed from this virus, and let’s do our best not to join them in the big fema camp in the sky

Daily Podcasting As a Path of Liberation from the Rat Race TPP234

Tree Kissing

In this episode I announce my intention to publish daily podcasts!

Here are my (non-verbatim) notes:

Daily podcast intended for years

all in divine timing, probably is

when I first had the idea to do almost daily podcast, look back at who I was, maturity level, wasn’t that long ago, but at this moment I feel more refined and more comfortable with what I intend to represent, what I have been digesting and composting and pruning in terms of my ego and aspirations

a few years from now I’ll look back and say I should have waited til I was more mature, but the genie is out of the bottle now

the survival podcast, started listening sub 100 episodes, was able to binge all the way to the beginning, my beloved at the time, we kind of eloped together, without getting married actually, but moving in together living together, a little over 10 years ago now

both had been punk but we not preppers, squatters, travelers, train hoppers to some extent, that was the vibe, mad max, radical self sufficient, traveling crusters, by whatever mode of travel had to become very cunning resourceful urban survivalists, survivalists in own right as traveling punks, in different manners throughout our youth

I remember it clearly now, giving the history of what led up to why the daily podcast is the right to do, a million reasons I could tell myself this is not the right thing to do, I’ll put my foot in my mouth, but I’m not gonna listen to the voice of fear

we lived together, tried to break out of the punk ghetto, she was more successful than me, the women I love and make love to are often more successful than me, it’s been the case, and it’s been humbly, so we were living together we were surviving together, in some ways thriving

but undertaking for her to uproot to live with me in so cal, that was really, one of those things you do in your 20s kinda thing, hopefully, not to say that that’s wrong, but…

her dad’s thesis on his daughter having “fuck you money” to be able to leave a toxic relationship, family wisdom, any circumstance where you need to “bug out”

she made much more money than that $500 fuck you budget money, but we did talk about that, the relationship was a project to practice loving arts, it was an open relationship, had some beautiful moments where that was expressed

it was a beautiful time, a blissfully ignorant and painfully ignorant time

she was slightly tortured by my obsession with the survival podcast which is just the most, bitter sweet thing sometimes, but mostly sweet but sometimes bitter sweet

she was into my enthusiasm for getting more deeply into our prepping strategies, that was the time of the financial collapse, I remember the moment I went on line to find a survival podcast, news stories about successful upper middle class families, murder suicide pacts of parents to killselves and children because of threat of losing their house and their comfortable life style, stories like this every, horrific, extreme madness and violence around losing this ill-gotten homes, I’m not a scholar on it, I just remember the feeling at the time, didnt have a clue about the financial bullshit going on, but on the news headlines like that, but one story that got me searching for survival, there was a family who had a mini van that they did their commuting in and someone had cut the fuel line, ciphoned the gas out of the tank, the next day the family turn on the car and it blew up and they all died, that struck fear into my heart and that was 4 years before 2012, I was into the time wave, terrence mckenna

feelings of helplessness and foolishness around survival strategies, this is how apocalyptic it was, I remember the gas prices, everyone remembers that, its fuckin mad max, that was what the whole premise was based on or, go-juice I think that’s what dennis hopper called it water world, I could be wrong, or incorrect, hahah

long story long, when I felt that way I searched for a podcast on survival, I found a few that seem to have faded out or weren’t that great, then I found the survival podcast, the best, daily episodes, his marketing strategy as a professional marketer was that in order to a part of people’s rhythm in life you wan tto be there on a daily basis, be there while they’re at the gym, commuting, doing the dishes, doing a hobby if you can entertain and educate, and be consistent, he’s one of the few people who made it a daily exercise, he suffered greatly, sleep was sacrificed to a degree, there was a lot of road rage involved, that was over 10 years ago, so I’ve been what they call a tsp-er, for all these years, I for damn sure someday better have something to show for it, with all due respect to myself, there have been times where I felt like was an exemplary student of the podcast, given the resources I had, playing the game of actually implementing the reasonable practical and no excuse, doing everything by the book according to a methodology that he synthesized from service in the military, corporate executive, entrepreneur, understanding procedures and protocols, how to be taught, how to teach, really effectively instill very practical skills and philosophies into people in a very efficient manner, very effective

anyone who listens to the podcast in their hearts wants to look in the mirror and say to yourself, want to know subconsciously that I’m not half assing the very critically important reasonable balanced, sane rational obligatory fundamental basic of really being an adult if you want a look at it, being a survivalist is being an adult, I could paraphrase, I don’t want to get into the beloved modern survival philosophies right now, I just want to pay that homage, his daily podcast has been a part of my daily life for over a decade, we want to say I’m not half assing the instructions i’ve been given, to me it’s the heart and soul of divine masculinity without the pretense of the new-ageyness

so he also did a side series all about how to launch your own business and build your own brand, getting established so that you can start to build your crypto currency portfolio, get out of debt, make wise purchasing decisions, get financially savvy, ultimately get access to land where you can really develop your survival retreat or your bug out location, all along having your bug out vehicle, your bug out bag, being prepared to bug in or shelter in place

I’m feeling back in to that time when I started listening every fuckin day, that as a daily spiritual practice, and without being woo-woo, he may not have said this world but ritual, ritual and routine is semantic, tony robbins talks about rituals

there’s a couple other daily podcasts I listen to, mostly its been his, almost every other podcast I listen to which is a lot has been weekly, some maybe twice a week, but most weekly, that’s a good rhythm, but there’s something magical that happens that he tapped into

having so many episodes so well documented with meticulous show notes to where everything is searchable

I don’t think you have too much, just continue to add layers of complexity and depth

gift of gab, and explore the possibility of having enough love from your devotees of listeners that they could help crowd source your liberation from working for the man, you quit your day job, making this your daily contribution to the world, knowing it’s changing lives, saving lives

if you have the ability to be a thought leader, that doesn’t capture it for me, I would say podcast shaman that’s what I feel like he and other folks have done, medicine people, bringing the medicine through this format, different types not claiming necessarily to be that, but effectively being that, the better way is to no call yourself a shaman but to be called a shaman

thinking back to playing it every day with my beloved, I would put a laptop in the car and play it from the laptop so we could both hear it on the way to where I dropped her off then split off

we both derived value, we made a video, a friend of ours going to college for photo journalism class, one of the assignments was to create a small photo journal book, she asked to document my current project, so have have a video and photo journal documentary of our emergency evacuation drill, depicts all of the prepping strategies we had cultivated

we wanted to do a bug out drill where we did every part of a multi page checklist, bug out to secret mountainous retreat location, wild edibles, fresh water, shelter, and sweet spot safe from crazies, cops, yuppies, and the gangsters, those are what you gotta watch out for

we had it figured out, where we were gonna go if shit hits the fan, what we were gonna take, how much water, checklists like unplugging everything from our warehouse artist loft

we wanted to our drill, wanted to test it, a lot of people just buy prepping gear, they don’t test it they don’t use it, they don’t force themselves to rely on it, for me and her for each other, our survival podcast early day’s graduation, it was a class project, completely ungraded, unacknowledged class project, I think that’s what a lot of people do when they fall in love with a podcast and receive guidance

we documented It, the story of the shit hitting our fan so to speak, in terms of the apocalypse and collapse of relationship in it’s localized form, we’re still lovers but in a different way, not sure if she kept listening to the podcast every day, but she appreciated it and she loved me and she loved the empowerment of what we were doing, but I stuck with it and I feel like being unsuccessful is not an option, being continously more successful and more intelligently successful, if I say to any other tsp-er that I’ve been listening for that many years, they’re gonna expect a lot from me, not just a cult or a club or an ego thing, it’s really like, you have no fuckin excuse to be ignorant of so many things that are critical to being an adult in growing the fuck up and being a grown ass man in this world.

And you’re not gonna get that from a weekend retreat of any kind, there’s more there, I should do the service, not the disservice to say is that tsp is a daily podcast that a for over a decade, it’s a living permaculture design in action

the point I’m trying to make is that, its beyond one male ego, it’s beyond himself, it is the skillful integration of the collective wisdom of an entire global nation, a global tribe, of people who are skilled in all the areas you’d want to be autonomous, self sufficient, self reliant, anti fragile

not trying to be an informercial for that podcast, just an opportunity to go down memory lane, to remind myself if I have something to say and feel its important, and not just be me but interview other people, and create a pantheon, of not just thought leaders but people who are really deep and really sincere, on point on a level where they’re ready to give back and ready to up level other people based on what they’ve accomplished, so compounding, so much value in the way that you can elegantly leverage for the benefit of everyone’s coming up in this world, take that sampling of people who are on point with what they’re doing and just keep that going, the magic of the daily ritual, the routine, the magic of a daily podcast that is quality, increasing because no body starts out sounding perfect, that can always evolve, what matters is the soul of the solo episode monologue, the soul of the interview, the soul of the round table, you can feel that

its almost a cliché that to be a podcaster doesn’t mean that you’re broke in your career, it just means it’s a labor of love

it’s not a side effect of tsp daily podcast that he was able to make his incoming be primarily based on the fruits of a daily podcast, very few people have achieved that

she shows how to do this and be successful financially, not just pat yourself on the back and not make a penny, you don’t have to reverse engineer it you can just engineer it because he wrote the fucking manual on it and gave it away for free

he laid out meticulous specifications for his success

so I’m going to, from now on, make some sacrifices and do my best to consistent at higher frequency of publishing content

I’m gonna have to be more diplomatic, I don’t want to be a people pleaser, I don’t everyone to be a bubble person, in terms of not having thick skin, I don’t want to be afraid to offend people, I don’t want to walk on egg shells, but there’s a level of diplomacy that I want to maintain

you mask your authenticity when you behave in a diplomatic manner when you behave towards a plurality of very extreme people in extreme circumstances, I will have to listen back, and edit what comes out of my mouth

its an undertaking, again 5 years from now I’ll probably be kicking myself

but hopefully that 5 years from now I’ll not be working or commuting for anybody else, I’ll be developing my own homestead as he has, I’m a pretty extreme frugal minimalist, and I’ve dialed myself in to a point where all of my endeavors financially can scale, based on an elegant design that has taken years to develop, starting to get traction and really compound, and I have implemented the modern survival philosophy and practicum at various scales and I just want to be a good student, that’s a fair balance aspiration and it goes back to me getting straight a’s in college, wasn’t always my academic attitude, but when I loved a teacher I wanted to show them my respect by implementing full assed what their hard earned wisdom bestowed upon me

and this isn’t my first podcast, at least two before

if you build it they will come, if you can garden that audience, build a brand, provide quality content, or fade out and quit and don’t succeed, right now I’m at a point where I owe it to myself after all these years, lets just say, like they do with the 12 step program, 1 day at a time, one chip at a time, build on your successes

when I was given my tantric devi sadana, daily mantra assignment from my modernish guru, you have to say it for a minimum of 40 days every day, dont expect results right away but do it and be disciplined with it, and study the results, so I think it’s worthwhile at this point to study the results of accelerating the release schedule of the podcast

and I have an important announcement that I’m keeping secret for the moment, it will be days or weeks but not months before I make the announcement that gives context for why the daily podcast will be happening

I’ll just withhold for now, I’m gonna have continence of the mouth, I’m going to practice word retention

its pretty much a 100% certainty, a very exciting announcement will be made very shortly, and there will be a million times more value and more enrichment and enchantment to this podcast happening on an almost daily basis maybe for a month, a year, may be indefinitely but the context is about to get so much better, not just the audio quality but that is a factor

I don’t want to give it away so I’m just gonna leave it at that

so I guess I will ask you to wish me love and ask you to step up and let me know if there are topics that you’d like to have covered, if they’re questions that you have, I’m going to be begging for folks to load me up with more material for segments, there are a number of segments that I have been collecting, I’ve got spreadsheets with a ridiculous amount of material that’s been boiling over to create daily segments, massive database, I’ll be kind of working through that, things like tantric world news, I’ve been collecting that stuff, and just because of my lack of prioritization of a daily podcast it becomes old news, piling up headlines, but I’ve got it all there, still think that’s important to be brought up to speed, that can be a segment, eventually people contributing to it, and also who knows I am of the generation of Wayne’s World and they had all kinds of segments that made it more charming and endearing, where you get more excited about the parts you love the most, it could be more commentary before and after an interview, if take that leap of faith to really religiously moon light this podcast on a daily basis to where it begins to eclipse the revenue coming in from other less desirable but still honorable sources of revenue, then, the craft as a daily grind that’s elegant, and very sustainable, its gonna get to really evolve and develop and deepen and I may be more ready for this 5 years from now, because I will have matured more and refined more, but I feel like this is the year to not hold back, and if you’re gonna get off the boat you better go all the way, kinda thing

give myself permission to not be so shy, another spirit I will invoke, jack burton of the pork chop express, kurt russell in big trouble in little china, which is one of the most influential sci fi fantasy east asian martial arts odysseys of spirituality, cosmology, and mythology, profound film disguised as a campy comedy, one of the many magical endearing things, the pork chop express, kurt russell with cb radio doing a proto podcast not knowing who he was talking to, probably had people chiming in, just driving, philosophizing, expounding, processing , of course you have that guy in my development, you have of even greater gravitas was pump up the volume and christian slater, I was profoundly moved by pump up the volume where he’s a punk rock pirate radio dj, where he was on every night, either for 5 minutes or 5 hours, now in 2020 you don’t need to be doing pirate radio, and you don’t have to be truck driver on your cb radio, you can be a globally distributed mp3 based, another beautiful thing about the open internet, sure I could be deplatformed, black holed, by the centralized platforms, but I can still spin up a server and crank out an rss feed so that anyone in a decentralized, anarchic, free and open source manner, using protocols free and open to all, a podcast is resilient, and can survive the iron grip of centralized platforms, deplatforming people for whatever reason, that’s one reason why I deleted apps, a number of other things

in the spirit of going dark or at least stepping away, not to insult or judge anybody, or to impugn I’ll be diplomatic, I don’t want to impugn any platform or service, that I’ve used, but there is a quintessential ancient tantric resonance with the idea that okay, here’s me, I’m in my fucking cave, singing my mantras, spouting my rhetoric, with my version of the scriptures, and my interpretation and life experience at a certain point, if I’m just in my cave holding my ceremonies and my satsangs and inviting my friends, its not exclusive, but it’s not imposing on other people so much, it’s not putting it people’s faces, there’s a grace in getting to a point where I’m content if people listen, I’m content if people don’t listen, I’m not discontent if people don’t listen, I’m in that state where I don’t feel its appropriate to spam people, or just over saturate people in the more benign sense or hype people, there’s certain grace, maybe people will say hey shut up you’re podcasting too much, but I’m not gonna be cluttering your social media feeds, if I’m in your feeds its because you shared my content or someone shared it with you but it’s not gonna be because I said hey look at me, give me free attention, I will just be here in my cyber himalayan tantric cave, and ocassionaly having fun with some consorts in that cave, and kissing and telling, and just doing my thing, I’m not gonna inappropriately be trying to bend the terms and conditions of platforms that don’t want adult content of any kind to be present, I’m gonna respect that, I’m going to excuse myself, here’s the explicit tag and take it or leave it, share it or don’t share it

getting back to the roots of internet marketing, and permaculture, here’s a nugget, perennial vegetables, perennial plant stock that produces yields year after year with one planting, and will outlive you in a lot of cases and will require multi generation stewardship, that’s perennial design, permanent culture, permanent agriculture, framework of perennial supporting the annuals, and everything in between, quite a bit of diversity in that range

for content do I want to be creating posts that don’t even get indexed by search engines, I’m I gonna have anxiety when my posts don’t keep up with the jones’ of other people’s posts? That process is seriously demoralizing and depleting and it’s not scaleable, Gary Collins another podcast guru of mine, who talks about basically digitally detoxed from that social media rat race and have it be the best decision ever made, to focus on what he’s doing, and share that, do minimal promotion as needed, not be a slave to it, paraphrasing, feeling into that wisdom, it’s not just luddism, it’s becoming a life and death things, for children it already is, how your brain is gonna be wired, compulsions, addictions to a device, I destroyed all of that, I’m not even addicted to my crypto portfolio app, I’m free from the addiction and a lot of people are not, just talking about me, my sense of things, my experience, I lived it, it tore me up, I made some impact, I had some numbers of 100s of 1000s of this and that, but I was sick of being a slave to the maintenance of it and I feel it it was not scaleable

so there you have it, I will not be imposing it, I’ll be doing it daily as a ritual and do my best to maintain high quality of audio, guests, segments, and see where that takes me, as long as possible

I will fell it, I won’t say I’ll feel bad, stressed, or beat myself up, but I’ll feel it if I miss a day, because what was happening on that day that was so important that I couldn’t take the time to do this, I mean I feel like I could be having the best fucking sex and best day of my life in the most beautiful place in the world or having the greatest trip or the greatest trippiest sex in the greatest place in the world and I should at least be able to record a podcast and release it the day after as long as I have a connection

wish me luck, and stay connected, course correct me if I get out of line, I’m very open to feedback, where it’s the first episode you’ve listened to or one of quite a number, I appreciate you and don’t be a stranger, don’t be a stranger

if you want to connect, you’re invited to connect, whether to be a guest, or submit content for review, or even record a segment, you could record a question and send it in, but why not record a segment, this is a big tent, I want to be between playboy magazine and howard stern, diversity of topics, if I could be the tantric feminist howard stern I think the world would be an even better place than it already is, a bit of george carlin thrown in there if I can dare to come to his knees with wit and humor and satire and radicalism, but if you have something that you have studied or researched or your own story and you don’t feel comfortable to be interviewed, if you don’t have your website, links, bio photo, whatever else it takes to feel qualified, you could be anonymous, you could be pseudononymous, you be satoshi nakamoto and just send me anything you want that contributes value and is pure hearted an in alignment, definitely want to just open it up and there will be plenty of space for you to occupy at whatever level that you desire, so by all means, step up, and let’s grow together, namaste

Calm and our journey together will begin podcast episode number 190 I am just more gleeful almost than ever before because I get to do something pretty rare and which is to have the best of both worlds and one place at the same time and that means that I get to in this episode really there’s only two may be very few other context where it was appropriate time to really bring the stuff into the frame but I really have a strong background in trap survivalism in you know everything from the zombie apocalypse fetish kind of saying and in the sort of post-apocalyptic sci-fi thing and I’ve just always been I guess it’s in a sort of them Mad Max 18 MacGyver should at the fan end of the world as we know it kind of mindset even from being like a 12 year old runaway and literally like living with a skateboard as a pillow and being a you know kind of an outlaw street Warrior Rebel or whatever like it’s just always been my aesthetic and and and it’s on Honest by spectrum of that aesthetic is the far more down-to-earth and far more really appropriate to just basic practical intelligent living for for all people like it doesn’t it’s it’s a the more moderate more sensible application of those abilities comes in the form of this very interesting training called the cert training and it is the community emergency response team training program that the Federal Emergency Management agency put together to sort of Create a Sim standard curriculum for municipalities around the u.s. to work with local I think it’s mostly fire departments in another sort of phone first responder type personnel and there’s the sort of collisions that built around training members of the civilian Community the way people at training them to be competent First Responders knowing that based on statistical analysis and most disaster situations is going to be several days if not longer before professional Aid gets rendered by agencies in a local or federal whatever has to come in like a disaster situation so it really before what’s the average citizen to commit themselves to some training to understand how to do light search-and-rescue to provide obviously first aid and to have some knowledge of how to really adapt to a need an emergency situation come everything from toxic chemical spills to toxic chemicals burning and fires to how to use a fire extinguisher how to apply more advanced bandages how to do triage if there’s like a mass injury or or a mess death sort of scenario due to the circumstance so it’s a really heroic thing that people have put this together and and there’s a whole sort of like a movie called like a auxiliary kind of Reserve Army of some Citizens First Responders and their people who have done this community emergency response team training and there’s several levels of it I have gone through the first level of the training which is a several weeks several module several week program where you go through a lot of these various forms of training and anyway it’s a huge passion of mine and I try to live up to the to the best standards of it and it’s a it’s always a moving Target and we all do our best but anytime I get a chance to talk shop and dork out with other people on being prepared and like you know what do you have in your in your your bug-out bag or your everyday carry or what do you keep you know on your vehicle for emergencies and just like comparing notes and going shopping at army surplus store and all that fun stuff it’s it’s just the it’s a good to Great Pastime and so here it should be no shock and no surprise that one survival women models who is like I’m bored with all this stuff actually turns out to be a fellow sir train yeah comrade in in all of this seems so it’s going to be a joy Exquisite joy to to go into these topics now with them and now has several time returning guest one of the the review and in the quiet and luxurious and an in an illustrious Alexandria Foxcroft back again to it now talk about this fun stuff so yeah with all that said how you doing what’s new tell us the backstory on your cert training very well thank you forced of all for having me back I’m excited that we both get to geek out on it together and share experiences because this is something that has absolutely been a highlight of my life I first took my type is my first recording training course when I was in high school and this was done at my Academy through my soccer team my coach was wonderful with all about Advance preparation and all forms to make sure that we all got certified so this was not my recertification since it has been a few years since I graduated from high school and I’ve always been one to look up to the badass people who are able to take care of themselves and take care of those around them growing up I watched a lot of Xena Warrior Princess and a big fan of Lara Croft Tomb Raider so I do my best to hide my skill so that I can be useful but it was a lot of fun I completed my recertification to see weeks ago that is so cool thank you so much for sure that’s that’s really cool to know ya most people do not know this existed seems like you were the best kept secret so do you want to talk about since it’s fresh in your mind just how would you if you were just sitting down with friends or family and I just came out of the course and then and ask you what you been up to you like how would you break it down for average people who who are going to just say like oh you’re crazy prepper nut job you know you like know this is very very practical stuff but yeah I’m curious how you would introduce it to people who haven’t heard about it absolutely so start training or Community emergency response training is a fantastic way for Lay people like you said those who are not trained firefighters they’re not trained emergency responders and they’re not police officers to get some of those same basic skills so what I learned in what the people within my call her cohort learn learn how to create a disaster preparedness kit what goes into fighting small fires if there is an earthquake and we are people inside of a building what precautions do we take before going into that building and if we are able to based on the safety and structural stability what do we do once we go in there and we’re now encountering people who are victims of this emergency a disaster is defined as anything that exceeds our ability to handle the problem and exceeds the available resources exceeds rescue personnel and results in loss of life and destruction so this could be anything from a fire to a terrorist attack to a zombie apocalypse even a massive flood and most of the time when this happens where are phone lines are down Powers probably out and those who are going to be taking care of the injured and those were sick and those who need guidance are they people about 95% of those people who are actively involved in rescuing and attending to First Aid are those who don’t do this as a profession so it’s great to have some people in the neighborhood who have an idea of what they’re doing and they’re at least prepared to Not freak out so much hopefully and get the things done that needs to happen when something tragic strikes so this was for me a 3 weekend long course where I dedicated my Sunday’s to learning resources and it’s great to connect with the community as well and see who else is on board with messing up to the plate and taking responsibility for so her family and for those around it helps me feel a lot more secure and my ability to do certain things as far as stopping the blood flowing in a major wound or putting out a small Fire by I feel more prepared awesome well that is wonderful and if it feels like a just after you take that training I’m curious to know if you feel the same way that you look at the world differently and you send you don’t take for granted safety you don’t take for granted security or health sanitation energy you know all of the really realize like how how much of a house of cards like everything we take for granted is about just like moving through life and using the infrastructure and he knows sailing through traffic lights and everything is just so it’s easy to get to get to two people they called normalcy bias is actually like the the term for when you don’t believe anything will it’s that basically that the normalcy bias is because the fancy way of saying it’ll never happen to me right about just the shift in Psychology that you have when you when you start to really look at like how vulnerable everything is and how precarious the the infrastructure is yeah I think that growing up I was always a pretty cautious kid even when we were in a crowd just making sure that I could see my mom or my dad see where the exits are and keep my wits about me is set that comes second nature in a lot of ways but she was training and just really helped me tune into crowd mentality more so because if something were to happen say in a stadium and we’ve all heard these stories are in a club people tend to just rush for the exits and there are certain psychological patterns that always happen when people are in Terror and they’re afraid for their lives where that’s when a lot of the Trashy occurs from trampling or getting stuck so now I am more aware of where my exits are if an earthquake were to happen and I were inside stay Costco what where’s the safest place for me to Duck and Cover so that in mind knowing that I always need to have at least half a tank of gas in my car I need to keep water with me I need basic Provisions in my house bandages other first aid items are working fire extinguisher just making sure my gear is always in check I know where it is that if I do have an emergency I’ll be prepared and I won’t be stuck scrambling when there is no oh yeah. Has certainly heightened my awareness and heighten my level of personal responsibility and I’m young the beginning of my journey for the most part so I’m gradually building up my cat gradually building up my skill-set but recognizing that it’s a journey and we really really are fortunate to have the infrastructure that we have and if something were to happen where that was overwhelmed we need to be able to take care of ourselves as best as we can and take care of our neighbors beautifully said and I totally agree in in the there’s if we kind of look at the gist the the population in general I’m after the statistic that less than 3% of Californians are prepared for any kind of earthquake at all so there’s so many people say was it that that was I remember where I heard that but I mean I’m typing so many podcasts in different commentators and stuff but the more likely than not you know this is sort of like the Preppers Dilemma to is that there’s there’s tactical survival has to like well if I grow a garden and I stockpile bunch of food and I have a bunch of supplies and I’m just going to be a target for my neighbors to overrun me you know when they need it but it’s like well then it behooves you to help educate them and get them on board so that the more resilient having a community the less that they say the zombie countdown starts when the water in the food is gone you know so if you can get water and food in the landscape than like you have the zombie countdown gets like if you can make that be longer and longer until it’s like oh actually there will be zombie apocalypse here cuz we all have granaries are we or I should say granaries but we all have long-term food storage figured out in I’ve heard it the Mormons in Salt Lake City are the most prepared people per capita because it’s in their freaking it’s in their code of conduct that they’re the apocalypse is near you better be ready for the end of the world so fucking lo and behold there the most prepared for the end of the fucking world they have great organization so yeah I 100% believe that when you have a community who is also looking out for each other’s back that means that if you know that your cans are going to expire than you turn those over and everyone else is doing the same that’s just ingrained within the community and for us to have that on the smaller scale than larger scales Within These communities where we’re not perhaps went according to religion or ethnic background that would be great I think a lot of people would feel safer and more confident with himself if they knew that when is Chicago’s down are at least covered for a couple of weeks they don’t need to be the one freaking out or going and trying to loot those who are prepared and that also comes with a side of making sure that you can protect yourself as best as possible and being cautious with when the situation calls for it alright so do you feel like you have many folks in your life who are like your survival emergency preparedness buddy so you can do drills with and have like a things like a blackout backyard campout nights to test all your you know batteries and make sure everything look for holes in your strategies and stuff to a little like a simulations and things I wish I did that would be awesome I am now that you say it going to start putting my feelers out and making that happen because Teamwork Makes the DreamWork that’s what I say the things that I feel have really prepared me I mean as best as I could be prepared for something like a massive earthquake I have no idea what what what that would really look like so all of its going to be just me doing my best but going somewhere where I’m really dependent on myself festivals major festivals like burning man where I bring it on my water bringing all my food all of my batteries have to work I am out there taking care of myself in the middle of the desert where it’s scorching hot freezing cold and it rains of all sorts of crazy stuff happens in a really heightened energetic environment being able to do that for 11 days on top of other festivals at work where I’m outside and exposed to the elements and really pushing my body makes me feel as though is there anything that I can handle yeah that’s a great Point certainly know they call it a radical sustainability radical I hate this that’s good training in good conditioning for sure and if you’re if you’re ready for burning man you’re probably ready for the zombie apocalypse for sure that’s cool and there’s need for I’m really really salute the the Medics you know the medical teams that the volunteer Medical Teams that come to party in other parties and whatnot they got Wilderness first-aid training and they’re all decked out but they’re also like still super hit party animals to eat us is not girls who are a great people it is wonderful to work alongside them and see them in action a lot of knowledge that they have and their willingness to share it with others and make sure people are partying safe is totally commendable yeah it makes me think about it is really has made me think about all of the the crazy antics of being younger and just going out into the night with no with nothing you know and just being at the mercy of like so many forces of nature forces of law forces of you know and now our the more like I’m you know I’m not I wouldn’t say I’m going to still have a lot of a lot more work I want to do in being more you know more as far as knowledge is far as most of all actually doing the drills you know like that’s the thing it feel like it’s lacking the most that you can buy anybody can buy a bunch of gear and just like have it but if you don’t test it and you don’t play with it you won’t like you were saying you know it’s important to know what you’re going to have some sense of how you going to respond and certainly under stressful conditions or different kinds you know so yes I so want to be figuring out your headlamp when you talked about which is going to definitely be forthcoming as is the notion of taking this survival women Persona profile platform thing that we’ve started and that you again I have to thank you because it was I believe however long ago it was you know a declaration was made in our first interview with you for discussion where I felt like it was time for me to make this actually come to life and know it’s it’s for all intents and purposes or a real thing and others there’s like a whole a whole like list of of amazing women who have stepped up and to present themselves and it’s still very much in the beta mode but what I like to do with it with all of the participating folks is a give them more opportunities to really highlight what it is that they’re passionate about and what they do and two to create just ongoing series on going a series of ongoing content for her profile per person so something that we would that we were talking about doing is like taking some of his Knowledge and Skills that you that you’ve been training with and actually putting a little bit of flair and and spice you know and possess to them and doing some like photo shoots and hopefully like it’d be great to do some instructional videos and things to do to your comfort level of of of you know where you’re at and have that be a way to just like nudge people with a little bit of Tristan located like Beauty and in sexy next to the to the extent that you like to share that and then they actually bring it all together so what what comes to your mind when you think about like what what you would do as a themed shoot for this kind of stuff like what your imagination go wild with these kind of ideas I’m so glad that your project is at that part where we are starting to think about what type of contact we’re going to generate for it it what came to mind was first aid wearing Taxi awesome Warrior Woman outfits that have pockets and not have places to store and hold gear that would be great I think it’s important for people to know how to use their equipment know where they can purchase their equipment and know how to do simple things like bandaging taking care of burn taking care of abrasion if someone is feeling psychologically Trump traumatized what to do in that situation there’s a lot that goes into managing an emergency situation that I have first-hand experience then and I’ve also been trained in. That is just a snowing at least seeing someone else doing this if you I don’t do this for a living it’s something that’s on the side of the hobby they can to and if it’s titillated even more fun I think I done died and gone to heaven I know I feel like I want to I want to just fall and scrape something so that you’ll have to like them. You’re my wounds or something that’s pretty obvious I think a lot of people to hold nurse fetish thing it like really comes from the nurturing energy of being cared for in the medical context it’s like really and sometimes your drugs to sow mean s another many people are so even to have someone bandaging a wound it’s really nice and all say sweet things I’ll I’ll take your mind off of the pain I appreciate that yeah if I used to do medical studies like a lot of Hollywood aspirin to don’t want to take a day job because they want to be available for casting call Civic they join the guinea pig seeing and they do medical studies for experimental Pharmaceuticals I don’t have to go through those various phases so I was definitely a study rat you know for many years and and I have fond memories of the nurses that would come in and poked me with IVs and take my blood and and do all that good stuff it really is a thing it’s interesting I am so curious now about that I am what was what was one that stand out to you you don’t have to get to Intuit Austin experience with the nurse or one of the trials a lot of crazy moments a lot of crazy by difference between you have to sort of sign up to waive your right to sue if you’re experiencing is that like that but the thing is I would say that it was priceless to me I mean I seem to have made it out without a scratch and knock on wood but it gave me so much exposure to what the the legal framework is for ethical study design and like just reading through so many pages in packets really giving me that shamanic like in the experimental work you know that I’m doing with my psychedelic shamanic Sexual Healing research it’s really it’s through the lens of having been through that system so many times and reading those packets and seeing you know who the the lead investigator is and what their liabilities are and what they need to cover their ass on and you know all of these different checks and balances that are again I mean it’s all pretty much skewed to create more toxic drugs to poison people with in charge therapy know about health care plans for but there is a percentage of it that is somewhat true to the spirit of healing and medicine but most of all it’s about I mean it’s about just understanding how to limit liability and do risk management I guess they’re big biggest concern the greatest is how do we make tons of money and manager risk celebra profitable because they do just get sued left and right you know like every every I hear the malpractices even with the certs a member went in the search raining I was at the fire department if they did one of the firefighter officials was like the main instructor and he was saying I think you said something like almost every call that they go out on the expected you know at least one lawsuit for septic some crazy statistic about how many times First Responders in the fire department like what they get sued for interest absurd so you know that’s kind of a Degrassi nobody’s talking a big it comes back to preparedness and in Risk risk management and number texting is like you know you want it like for example if you do if you have I know if you have a first date if you have a first-aid training and you administer CPR or you do any kind of like you are now you say you don’t have to do it by the book it’s like some people would say if you don’t do first aid training and you render Aid to somebody you were less like vulnerable to a lawsuit then if you did before say training cuz then they can say where you have your card and you should have done it like this and you were going to be like this since something happened and now you’re more think it’s it’s a lot of careful consideration and what not but there’s also like the Good Samaritan where did you give you good yeah it sounds like it gave you a good basis for doing what you’re doing now and being able to see why a cover-your-ass much as possible so that’s why I want formation that and you’re alive and you have all of your limbs nothing hello what are some of the highlights now cuz it’s fresh in your mind some of the things that you if you almost moved by your like the highlights of some of the notes you were taking you really want people to think about to get them motivated to take this up as a hobby make it up as a responsibility and something doesn’t have to be a chore but I think what what makes it feel more invigorating is to know like how how how important it is that you’ve become capable of being a hero and nice ways in and so some of the some of the data that you get from the course will give Tiffany get you psyched on stepping up so any kind of to give us a pep talk you know from your notes I have a lot of fun with this start training even though it was waking up at 6 a.m. to get to a class at 8 a.m. to group was great though to offer construction where a lot of fun there bones everyone to volunteer so we all have that part of us that is not evaded to do better and to learn more so you are a great company of the stuff that interests you you get to feel like a badass going in the face of a small fire and putting it out you learned valuable skills that will make you a more competent human being able to protect your family better protect yourself and they’re a little tidbits of information that you’re able to that has Daft into your life that will help you avoid those things that get people into trouble little things like not having enough gas if you need to just get the heck out of town or not having enough water because that’s essential when it’s our water goes out we’re not able to take showers were not able to flush our toilets were not able to just run the snake we need to have water not just to drink and Keep Us Alive but to get there are they so you’re going to be building up the skill sets in this information where you’re gradually making yourself more prepared that even if something terrible doesn’t happen you still have the things that you need you start to think of life in a more organized fashion and you want to secure your house in a way that makes it that I can hear you can get around and you can you have access to the important thing a great day today life skill, it’s that it’s a really well and I think today the important shift that I have had in that I try to promote to people want to talk about this is that really the peace of mind that comes from being more prepared and knowing that you have the skills in a training to respond appropriately to pretty much any emergency or disaster situation that helps you sleep better at night and it helps you be less fearful and really it’s funny cuz people will say it’s tragically funny that people will say oh my God you look at you like you’re so paranoid look at you you know do all these extra steps and you know put your money into this and that it’s like actually I have a better quality of life knowing that having done this these procedures and being prepared in these ways I act so we can enjoy day-to-day life a lot more and not have this like this overarching kind of looming anxiety about knowing subconsciously that I’m totally vulnerable to anything and I have like no resilience it’s been that shift for me has been really has been really great I know other people who who are on this path and who enjoy this process together they have that same sort of deep deep bike relief sense of inner peace and relief knowing that they’re they’re not going to be out there begging and fighting and you know they’ll be able to be my best security so keep speak to that just this that sort of that in front of mindfulness and it and made it to that place you know it’s up to connect it with that sort of them that sort of a special things absolutely I found it to be really really nice to enhance my responsibilities when it comes to their personal responsibility and that form a circle. Just being the ability to respond if I will put in a position where life was changed drastically I feel confident knowing that I can step up to the plate and handle things for myself and organize things as well for the past are training I made it a point to take on leadership positions as much as possible and having this inner peace and knowing that when chaos is going on around me people are looking for Direction when they don’t know what to do I can help because I found that in her Serenity to just make space make room for there to be organization structure and just get things moving and flowing in a way that allows us to get through it as fast as we can with what we have available absolutely hey what just came to mind to me when you said I was like you know people have it so easy when they study the Eastern Arts at meditation and they do it and then he totally feng shui peaceful really intentional environments and it makes me think that really it would be addicts interesting to go and do Transcendental Meditation or whatever else you like to do or just yoga and do it in any rush hour traffic while there is Jack Hammers and construction going on just like in the middle of the downtown all of that have that experience that I will you be able to hold that that peaceful cam sensor it in a bin where they surrounded by chaos and yeah you got to you got to not panic you know you really you really got to know that you’re not going to panic write this most of most people will and if you do then they do to it’s very contagious and keep your calm a panic is I think the most valuable skill that one can attain for themselves have you something if something happened it’s hard to know until you’ve been there so it would every detail you know you care to share I’m curious to have you do you have some experiences throughout your life where you felt like you were you were in like a hectic situation you were able to to draw upon a sort of instinct Shore or a prime or even more of a trained and more of it I guess I’m going to have you do you have like personal narratives of incidences incidents that she responded to an and how you would kind of reflect on them now with the with this training in your mind sure I’m the first thing that comes to mind is working as peer support through them. Which is an organization organization and going to Festival where things are super chaotic people are changing their Consciousness in many forms and they’re coming to us perhaps bringing a friend to their desire and we’re here to do other things than babysit we’d rather not take him to the medical tent or you can get arrested so here you have them and this is his play stitches do what he needs to do in a safe manner that those experiences are coming to buy because one in particular someone who wants a large man over 6 ft tall and 5 5 and she has power over me really really agitated the one that make other people feel uncomfortable with his presence he’s just very out of it and I walked up to him talk to him is like anyone else asked him what he needed and I felt as though and I was able to just be there for him not as a guide not as a director not as a leader but just as person-to-person contact style you need to pour and I am here to be. make sure you don’t hurt yourself make sure you don’t hurt him at all and because my background is in Psychology I’m particularly primed for being able to approach these situations with care and consideration and just like we’re all human we have all had days where we don’t feel totally ourselves and sometimes that’s more apparent and extreme than in others and knowing that I can be there when someone’s really freaking out and seemed like they might hurt someone and just deescalate the situation I am grateful that that is very very likely born out of these practices of meditation and yoga and self-regulation still makes me honestly think that if it’s funny because the the cert training system it’s very secular as it would need to be you no it’s not it’s not partial to any religious tradition or 1:19 I felt like I was just kind of the way it’s like going to the post office or something you know it’s not very spiritual and have Feria Wu at all but I do I would believe that that there are there be I could see a space for for their you know if not in the official official by the book search training certainly people who are making me just makes me think I wonder if there are people who really proactively solicit the the first responder Community for like custom yoga classes in custom wellness retreats in it makes me think that’s got to be a huge Market Niche you know cuz they’ve got so much PTSD they have so much stress so much responsibility and I wonder what they do on a spiritual in mindfulness kind of self-care serve chip and maybe that’s something maybe that’s a gap that that you will Bridge somehow either did you ever hear considered kind of Outreach and your services in and sort of marketing to I mean maybe you do you have a fireman fetish furniture I do have a person in uniform I appreciate people who are able to take care of things myself that’s super hot and attractive and had to be able to offer that to those who are really totally embodying the put your life on the line for others is to get back in that way I currently offer Community classes in my neighborhood and to expand that to the police department the fire department medical professional yeah that sounds great. Another fantastic idea because you just brought up the police department it makes me think you know okay police brutality what about police yoga classes and then less police brutality because police yoga write this if there’s so much stress and anxiety that they are carrying around through their days until their homes back to work and then out to the general public. That’s likely why so much of this trigger having a secret so if we are able to channel that in a way that’s more productive and just likes entering in it doesn’t have to be a burden that I can’t even fathom the things that they deal with on a day-to-day basis that would drive many people mad that they are able to handle let’s make it so that they can just not stuff it down and bury it and then it comes out in the grass of scary harmful ways but we can Channel it and provide self-care well I just had a crazy vision of you being like the second coming of Pam Grier to do like you your police officer and when you arrest people you you you telling me have to get into yoga poses you know I can sit down on the ground up against the wall Foxy Brown yeah you know I can’t say that I really thought seriously about law enforcement because medicine is my passion but should be there for people and the escalator situation with some yoga Galaxy influence the way it was only an innocent Ematic contacts that I could imagine you being a cop I think it would be it would be very fun to play with the notion that everything is hackable including our are stereotypes about police you know good magic you know it’s a Jedi mind trick on a thing you know if you can if you can if you can I think they I think they all police officers are are starved of of of appreciation and I think when you when you know how to authentically show them that you appreciate the risks are taking with their own lives to do Austin you know community service work and you know maybe it’s not always getting cats out of a tree but it’s also not always beating up on people of color and it’s been a growth Edge for me to not be such a simple-minded Anarchy you know who is psyche has. Juvenile mentality towards being ever cereal to the state and its and its soldiers and and and cops so yeah I can only see I mean the timeshare thing to is like you just alchemize everything in you and you say you know make friends out of your enemies in in in 5 that Unity Consciousness and so well we’re getting into some interesting fun territory but I feel like there’s there’s what’s up with unity 2D just bring more spirituality mindfulness to to the Department’s you know these departmental bureaucracies and a lot of people just trying to do decent good work in the community but also maybe not having a spiritual tools so maybe it’s something you’ll be able to to give back in in to feed back into into that world I would love that in this you or any of your viewers have solid ideas or leads into how we can make this happen because I would really love to offer but at a shin yoga to First Responders they do a lot of work for the greater good I’m all year please forward that to me cool but I think this as usual it’s always kind of a a magical ceremonial brainstorming session you know so all these things that were imagining your are starting to really be there materializing on on a on a settler energetic plane and and I think they will find their way into mean for now we have it we will absolutely come together and with whatever crops and gear and equipment that we have amongst us we will have fun with cameras and survival gear and we will start this this journey and who knows if the other people who find it and share it online you know we could really I mean it’d be great to have even more mentors you know it people who were her more for further down these past ultimately to be able to work with you not to be able to own ambulances and have our own you know our own actual decentralized autonomous first responding there’s actually a there’s actually cryptocurrency token project that is thick the Uber of First Responders and they are using yeah they’re using like a crypto token incentivization it’s called Guardian I believe it was called and it was a guardian token I think it was called but it’s like they figured out how to take like places throughout the world where there’s not a lot of medical infrastructure and first-responder infrastructure and be able to basically send out like GPS kind of like uber type requests and then so that empowers people on bicycles and motorcycles and imagine like peer-to-peer first 8 yeah yeah so have you been spokesmodel for that if there’s something I mean it’s here if they’re if they’re surviving the crypto bear Market you know so let me know thank you so much we really covered a lot and in this has been really fun to just have for me less if I really focused agenda and just be able to kind of meander and in brainstorm and come up with fun ideas in and then those that are the most married to the most virtuous in with the most Merit shell Shelby will come to fruition and that will make some great art happen very soon and just keep the good times rolling so I’d say 2 to close out I think it’d be great to kind of show Jason highlight your gifts some of them which are to really be able to help people navigate their their inner thoughts capin mindscape and Rehab gray to create some sort of spontaneous affirmative meditation kind of guided meditation to to bring people-centered into the Consciousness that you feel you’re cultivating with having that Duty and that calmness and that competence to take more responsibility and just sort of yeah sure something big comes to mind for you if you like and then of course your your website places to get people to get ahold of you and I will call to show yeah that sounds great and thank you for the fun and being willing to go down these different. Paths of exploration and as always per usual we did good work and I’m excited to see let me come up with Max and enclosing I would like to do something fun play with your play with your listeners for a little bit and I invite everyone to settle into space back there and if you’re driving keep your eyes open and just relax and listen to my voice. The Survival Wombyn Project Green Paper TPP173

Play

Survival Wombyn Banner

In this episode I read the “Green Paper” for the Survival Wombyn Eco (role)Modeling Project. I then elaborate on the backstory and road map of the project.

Please visit the website at:
https://survivalwombyn.com/

Here is the white paper:

When I was a boy, I was enchanted by the female form, the majestic whole woman. When my older male friends started to show me adult hardcore magazines I was offended and confused by their crude objectification of the models. They were more interested in the close-up action than the beauty of the emotional expressions. There was no natural and healthy context in those photographs and it hurt my eyes and heart.

Much later in life I discovered through tantra yoga and psychedelic shamanic healing ceremonies that I was abused as a child. No wonder I didn’t vibe with the predator energy of the older boys. I always yearned for medicinal love and intimacy, and the peace and serenity of wild nature.

I built a career as a sustainable edible landscape designer and as my personal healing journey has progressed, I have discovered my spiritual purpose as a wounded healer: to compost the patriarchy and help put five thousand years of male dominance over women, children, animals, and nature to rest.

The Survival Wombyn project is one of my collaborative attempts to restore whole natural beauty to human sensuality. I endeavor to depict models in an innocent, wholesome, playful, yet purposeful manner that transcends the shackles of abusive fetishes and commercialized exploitation.

In addition to re-positioning the home of eros back into nature, I feel compelled to empower women as role-models so they can demonstrate ecological values, knowledge, and skills.

Rather than simply depict women enraptured in the sensuousness of natural settings, my goal is to feature their integration into nature through yoga, gardening, natural building, appropriate and sustainable technology, primitive skills, herbalism, shamanism, witchcraft, self defense training, and more.

Most of my close female friends are diverse, beautiful Eco-Warrior Goddesses who can train mainstream models in these empowering and liberating arts. I believe conscious alt models can and will revolutionize and enlighten the dominant modeling industry paradigm. While much of the status quo industry defaults to a low form of black magic, titillating the vacuous male gaze and exploiting women’s beauty to sell products that harm the environment, we can do better with conscious, intentional, consensual green magic!

When I am reborn, I want it to be in a future world where the intoxicating power of female beauty is intelligently used to keep men in a permanent state of graceful worship and service. Peace, prosperity, equality, and harmony can be restored when men lay down their axes and swords, and live in loving devotion to the divine, earthly, and human feminine essence.

In practical terms, the Survival Wombyn (Role)Modeling Project will be evolve along the following path:

Phase 1: Self-fund the development of the desktop/mobile website application infrastructure to facilitate Ethereum smart contract based crypto-currency tipping for models who submit and license audio/video/still photographs.

Phase 2: With 5% of each cryptocurrency  tip amount held for use to fund ongoing development of the platform, top budget priorities include: staff payment,  an online merchandise store, production equipment purchases, travel expense allocations, print publications, course-ware implementations, and more.

Phase 3: When significant brand recognition is achieved and cashflow is available, various  reality show series concepts will be explored.

Phase 4: When funds allow, further website/mobile app infrastructure will be built out to facilitate more formal cryptocurrency crowdsourced funding for projects proposed by models, to be voted on and prioritized through a blockchain based decentralized autonomous organization voting mechanism.

Phase 5: With abundant financial resources and potential social impact venture capital, the ultimate goal is for on-the-ground ecological educational facilities to be built around the world that would serve as sustainable refugee camps for women and children fleeing from oppression and abuse of all kinds be it financial, familial, governmental, or religious.

To end on a personal note, it will be a dream come true to re-incarnate in the next life through an un-raped, unmolested womb, and to be raised in a rape-free zone established by the very Survival Wombyn models that my efforts directly empowered.

In Devotion to the Divine Feminine, in partnership with the Divine Masculine;

Com and our journey together will begin hello dear beloved’s welcome to Township Punk podcast episode number 173 I’m going to do a solo episode to introduce the soft launch of my new project which I’ve been actually working on for a couple years now and it’s finally really coming to fruition in what you would call a in a beta testing mode where it is live and accessible online however I’m not doing major promotion until there are some rounds of bug fixes and Bug bounties and even hopefully some penetration testing which is kind of next level security measures to be sure that there is few of vulnerable points of attack is possible which is an ongoing struggle and going to get into it first off read the what I’m calling the green paper which is the spin off of what’s happening in the ramp it cryptocurrency space and blockchain startup space which is that every project has the sort of it’s almost a caricature often of a real scientific industry type of white paper or something to it to look up but it’s interesting the original Bitcoin whitepaper is that sort of from synopsis of the technical the problem that that the that the Endeavour 6 to solve like outline that problem outlining that problem and then elaborating on the solution that you’re proposing based on your research and development and it’s sort of usually not necessarily pandering to investors but certainly hoping to get people on board and people to study it and an in a peer-reviewed context which is not the level I’m at Bentley academic world you know if your industry Academia and you’re putting out white papers there’s usually a high standard of screwed in the end so anyway if I’m attempting to tongue and cheek make a spin-off of that Meme of making a really mostly half-assed white papers and Industry and just put in a little bit of my ecological Consciousness here and I call it a green paper because I’m trying to be green with what I’m doing here so I will go ahead and read that to give the background and then give some updates on really what’s happening with the website and the project so here goes when I was a boy I was enchanted by the female form the Majestic whole woman when my older male friend started to show me adult hardcore magazines I was offended in refuse by their crude objectification of the models they were more interested in the close-up action than a beauty of the emotional Expressions there was no natural and healthy context in those photographs and it hurt my eyes and heart much later in my life I discovered through Tantra yoga and psychedelic shamanic healing ceremonies that I was abused as a child no wonder I didn’t Vibe with The Predator energy of the older boys I always urine for medicinal love and intimacy and the peace and serenity of wild nature I built a career as a sustainable edible Landscape designer and as my personal healing Journey has progressed I have discovered my spiritual purpose as a wounded healer to compost the patriarchy and help put 5,000 years of male dominance over women children animals and nature to rest the survival woman project spelled w o b y n as in womb is one of my collaborative attempts to restore whole natural beauty to human sensuality I Endeavor to depict models and innocent wholesome play full yet purposeful manner that transcends the shackles of abusive fetishes and commercialized exploitation in addition to repositioning the home of Heroes back into nature I feel compelled to empower women as Role Models so they can demonstrate ecological values Knowledge and Skills rather than simply depict women and Rapture in the sensuousness of natural settings my goal is to feature their integration into nature through yoga gardening natural building appropriate and sustainable technology primitive skills herbalism Shamanism witchcraft self-defense training and more most of my clothes female friends are diverse beautiful eco-warrior goddesses who can train mainstream models in these empowering and liberating Arts I believe Concha salt models can and will revolutionize and Enlighten the dominant modeling industry Paradigm while much of his escrow industry defaults to a low form of black magic titillating the vacuous male gaze and exploiting woman’s Beauty to sell products that harm the environment we can do better with conscious intentional consensual green magic when I am reborn I wanted to be in a future world where the intoxicating power of female beauty is intelligent Lee use to keep men in a permanent state of graceful worship and service peace prosperity equality and Harmony can be restored when men lay down their axes and swords and live in loving Devotion to the Divine Earthly and human feminine Essence in Practical terms the survival woman role modeling project will evolve along the following path so fun the development of the desktop / mobile website application infrastructure to facilitate ethereum smart contract based cryptocurrency dream come true to reincarnate in the next life through a nun raped and molested womb and to be raised in a rape free zone established by the very survival women models that my efforts directly empowered and Devotion to the divine feminine in partnership with a Divine masculine sincerely been lost in co-founder okay so if you haven’t read a lot of white papers in the cryptocurrency blockchain space some of this might be a little bit futuristik and jargonistic but I’ll break down probably the most the most technical aspect of understanding is so to recap in some layman’s terms let’s say the goal is that because there is this new paradigm of crowd Source funding with very little regulation very little obstruction by Banks and governments the ability for a capital liquid digital Capital to flow instantaneously throughout the world to anyone anywhere who has not even an internet connection necessarily but a way to access the blockchain a way to set up a cryptocurrency digital wallet so I can receive funds that that opens up a whole new a whole new paradigm of possibilities for supporting causes and issues and people that you care about and there’s also a model that I was exposed to a while back or not too hot not too long ago was Jesus idea of community supported activist where individuals who is working under a non-profit umbrella can establish themselves as a one-person Army that people can have tax-deductible donations to fun I’m not going to go the route of the nonprofit set up I’ve done that in the past and I do not like the level of control oversight and potential manipulation that that you’re you’re in that situation with with government institutions so I’m I’m banking on and I’m witnessing the the beauty of people who are so already abundant with cryptocurrency reserves from early investments in Technologies like aetherium and Bitcoin excetera at this new class this new 1% of crypto Millionaires and billionaires in hundred thousand years in 10,000 they’re very generous in most cases with how they spread this wealth around most mostly because they’re deep interest in seeing the the the technology flourish and further to be Mass adoption so there’s an incentive there’s a number of very aligned very I would say wholesome incentives to share the wealth in a way that is a very very novel and so now if you the people that have a concentration of wealth in these forms of cryptocurrencies with the stuff that some of them are doing to make the world a better place whether it’s through charitable donations on the books of nonprofits or just straight across the web. Appear empowering people to do what they do with no paperwork and no it’s just Anarchy crypto Anarchy at its finest and total consenting adult Financial interaction what’s so interesting about what’s happening now in the regulatory climate is that simultaneously the The Regulators are there’s enough pressure there’s enough wealth and pressure and in soon to be lobbying power in the capitals of the nation to really get the technology to be protected and facilitated by local state and National levels of government and the to be expected clamping down on some of the Shady practices within the industry and within the technology movement that’s the way that I am designing this and the way that I’m studying the sort of trajectory of this technology is going to be to to be in the right side of the law and to be in good standing with regulators and luckily and I’m going going with the the platform that has really broken through the most vulnerable stage of being regulated and it’s gotten itself so established in so many places that it’s really here to stay and that’s I do feel of all the cryptos that I have been studying in investing in I feel that my heart is most aligned with this the spirit of aetherium that the way that it came about and what the Brain Trust is in it so that could change in the future but for now I’m very confident and very foolish as they say in the trading World about this technology but bring it back down to the greater Mission the technical aspects of facilitating the flow of capital and is tipping economy that’s actually not not really that advanced I’m using this technology in a very simple manner I hired some developers to help me create a smart smart contract template that would allow a tip percentage to be it’s of it from every every tip that goes through to a model on the website to help them find their life goals and their life mission that they share in their introduction videos and if they have in their bio and that they’re presenting and there’s they’re they’re doing essentially an ongoing Kickstarter ongoing crowd-source funding campaign and then there will be eventually the back-end infrastructure on the website so that a model starts out just receiving random General tips from whoever thinks they’re cool and likes what they’re doing and then as money starts to flow as the ER the crypto starts to flow through the system and the treasury is built up the 5% that is being withheld then there will be more development to happen that will facilitate building out of a incremental Milestone based sort of drip irrigation system of capital to the women who are doing Jake’s on the ground and who can verify that they got through one phase so one round of funding that was issued to them if that if that goal is met and there is evidence to prove that it was you know that the money was accounted for that the crypto is accounted for and put into the project then that would unlock for them to potential to make a request from the treasury to do more projects in this was essentially this is a synthesis of learning about for me what the history of aetherium smart contracts decentralized autonomous organization and things like multi signature contracts there’s all of this technology now exists to facilitate stuff that I was dreaming about way back in 2020 or 2009 in 2009 I was anticipating a movement of accelerated survivalism and preparedness around 2012 and that sort of waveform of a meme a meme wave of people just like Y2K which I I did live through and Bone up on my survival thinking a bit for that not as much as for 2012 but because I had lived through that and I remembered it and I’ve started it since there really is like a an important opportunity to mobilize around these pseudo Apocalyptica prophecies and events and whatnot so the way back in 2009 I was I was working with Drupal which was the predecessor really too well it’s a Content management system somewhat like WordPress but far more extensible and far more elaborate and it’s not as user-friendly it’s kind of I believe it was well it was very I mean it’s it’s countless websites are running it in our government institutions businesses schools bloggers and I hate it if it still takes a lot of different functionality but I had been really a power user as a web admin of Drupal and I knew even back then that with the Web 2.0 technology it would be very easy to facilitate a sort of a fund a foundation of fun where you could make you could disperse allocations of of that fund to people who or projects throughout the world who would write a proposal just like Kickstarter or Indiegogo but then have the community the community of members and users of the platform actually vote on how much do the big basically a budget can be your entire social network platform can become very easily a way to involve all of the the members of the community to to vote on these kind of phone initiatives and therefore to decentralize at least the the the the decision-making power of an organization across of wide spectrum of people a diverse range of people back then I was still in the parent in the centralized server Paradigm of okay I will run my website I will I will have the platform and I will be managing it I will be this the single point of failure but at that time before aetherium before Bitcoin before peer-to-peer decentralized technologies that are are taking off now with blockchain and the sword of truth machine immutability as a service Paradigm that Andreas Antonopoulos talks about at length I’d only just imagine that yeah I could run a website and members people could join the website and the the capital that is generated by whatever means donations of the time I was running a nonprofit so it could have been just charitable donations to this Foundation fund and Grant fund and then it would be a beautiful website where you see people doing what I was interested in this like really accelerating permaculture homesteading in anticipation of a potential catastrophic shift around 2012 which I think we met I think we’re in the did the frog in boiling water right now and I think the state of the world now several years later is actually in some ways some ways not as bad in some ways worse but certainly undeniably we are in a time of catastrophic shift and the day the days of business as usual and world as we know it or are certainly are certainly dwindling and I don’t necessarily believe it’s going to be all out into the world apocalypse Mad Max overnight but the really the ecological refugees that’s probably the biggest single factor I don’t want to digress too much but I will say that I’m though I’m no more confident about the infrastructure of modern industrial civilization 2 to save us or to prevent the catastrophe of nuclear meltdown and ocean poisoning and the melting of every this all of these indicators they’re not they’re not getting much better and the the pressure that is on me as a prepper and survivalist by training from the fire department from years of being a devotee of the survival Podcast and years of being in the permaculture industry in LA and taking the stuff off seriously and I I don’t do everything that I would like to do but I certainly do a lot and I certainly would love to see a culture of preparedness that is sensible and reasonable and not dependent on catastrophic prophecies to get in gear so I would love to see Capital flowing to people around the world collectives of people egalitarians collectives of people who are operating according to principles of motto of what I would call you a logical anarchism where we’re moving towards a more Paleolithic model of eventually being in a bunch of nature that we repair roof repairing ecosystems to a level that we can actually once again in smaller groups forage within them Andre wild so you can call Annika primitivism you can call it green anarchism you could call it luddism you can call it deep ecology Primal Anarchy I think they probably the safest word to use is rewilding which can be done anytime anywhere and it’s a state of mind and it doesn’t require a mass die-off and has no malthusian misanthrope misanthropic agenda that people confuse with primitivist and it’s really simply putting down to earth putting all this into simple Focus we I would love to see for a small bio Regional communities working on permaculture homesteading Eco Village Building & Design and ultimately rewilding and there’s enough wealth and capital amongst the super rich and now the crypto super-rich to wear some of these fantasies and dreams that I had of empowering people through technology through the web through creating profiles are people can write proposals and stay here chart my progress on my project I want to build a composting system I want to do a gray water system a rainwater system look at how many people were feeding in our village look at how many people were feeding on her urban city block and just continually focus on dancing people who are moving in that in that in those directions with those principles of anti-authoritarianism and ecological integrity and really stepping away from the hyper technological world but using aspects of it and elements of it to bootstrap Amore classical Paradigm so one thing I am extremely hopeful about in this uncertain time is the power of cryptocurrency and blockchain to actually really effectively facilitate a massive transfer of wealth and power so resuming into this green paper in these phases to flesh this out a little bit the the ultimate goal here would for there to be literally ultimately a platform that is totally decentralized where I am not a single point of failure I’m not just facilitating the website and I’m not a money transmitter business because I’m not holding on to you are being responsible for the fruit actually managing a treasury with all the liability and all of the risk associated with being running an organization the possibility for Insider theft for embezzlement for fraud in fact the umbrella organization that my first nonprofit the guy in MIND Institute was operating under was completely implode in under a massive massive Scandal where they had I don’t know how many how many projects operating under them and they embezzled all of that project money and so it was the most I could not I mean that was when I was done with the nonprofit sector when that happen obviously luckily we only lost a couple hundred bucks but there were a number of projects that were operating under this umbrella a nonprofit that went went afoul and took everybody’s money and leave there were hundreds and hundreds of thousands of it was not a secret it was you know very well covered in the media and they had to go after the guy so it’s like that honey pot of centralization where it’s just it’s too tempting and it puts people I’m not tempted by that I say that now but literally this is the idea this is the beauty of cryptocurrency is that you can program monetary system so that UD risk yourself and you take yourself literally out of the equation and you take Banks and third-party services that don’t need to mention but that are also points of failure everybody is getting hacked the the nobody is safe from hacking the hackers have way more time on their hands and in some cases with their nation state actors with a call advanced persistent threats they are being paid very high wages to work full time to do nothing but attack us while we sleep at our weakest points and we have no clue as Ended as in users and consumers we are totally clueless for the most part putting all of our trust and faith in third parties and fourth parties and V parties and on top of the line and so without a disk corner without giving a discourse on public key cryptography and how that works at in the financial technology world now with with the Good Sense Bitcoin was developed you know the simple way to look at this is that I can now complete my vision that began 10 years ago and it over 10 years ago in anticipation of 2012 are about 10 years ago and to eventually move this platform into a space of decentralization where nobody no one has no single individual human point of failure has the ability to steal money to transfer the funds to allocate the funds that everything is governed by a selective mechanism that is code is Law and that math algorithms that we had no one trust based on the battle testing that Bitcoin has done in the battle testing of aetherium is doing and we can be reasonably reasonably certain that with a very very astute coating and he’s smart contracts we can set up systems that cannot be in fruit and for all intents and purposes they can’t be compromised by a single point of failure it would take more money effort energy resources excetera to try to extract the money from a well-designed smart contracts system then it would be to just play by the rules so that’s the game theory that is part of the game 3 but to ya tu tu I’m really thrilled about this and to continue with kind of flushing this out what I’m we’re at where this is at now which is where a lot of project start is it is a point of single for a single point of failure I am running a a centralized website on a third-party shared server I am at the the highest concentrated point of risk right now as far as being a single point of failure so is the goal is to have as money flows through the system in a treasury is built up then I can begin really hardening the platform until a transitions to that really sweet spot of being virtually unhackable and existing completely in the decentralized third webs in the new web 3.0 space where in order for funds to be moved if I may never I’m a completely walk away from it and it may be a multi signature contract we’re in order for funds in the treasury to be allocated to a project that there has to be multiple multiple parties who synchronize on signing the signing the transactions so that with one person is kidnapped if one person disappears if one person goes Rogue they cannot single-handedly be compelled to or from their own volition harm the project or take the money and if this is funny cuz I have not thought about this actually at all I was in an hour living in the age of Grand Theft crypto and what I hadn’t thought about until just now that when I was running the guy MIND Institute and we were working with we were starting to work with really serious heavy hardcore investors and money we were getting grants we were started when we were small potatoes were a little Art Gallery in Long Beach doing gardening with at-risk youth and you know we got just just so much magic and fun and good times and love from the community and hanging out with troubled youth parents and having them for the first time see their kids doing something constructive it was a real magical really amazing time and I got to see you know how the inner workings of the non-profit world work and some of the the Shady or dark side of it to and how some of the some of the people involved in the different organizations it can really be easy for people Shady people to to Really abuse the nonprofit system it’s it’s it has that’s why it has a lot of oversight but you know anyway that’s the point is it’s remembering now how I umbrella organization that that we had our project operating as a non-profit under so that we could receive charitable donations and gives and we could go and we could pick up resources like on we could post on Craigslist and say hey we’re a nonprofit if you want to write off this is what we need we had wish list people would come by and just randomly drop off all kinds of cool stuff to our location and if this technology existed back then if blockchain-based cancel technology that would Monitor and in control and limit access to who was able to sign for payments sign checks you know those those all of that embezzlement that happened that that destroyed my in a way it did destroy my project at but it mostly destroyed a lot of other projects that really had a lot of more money that was taken and it just crippled them so that all of that can be solved and prevented by this new blockchain technology so this is kind of going off now about how thrilled I am that now the technology has evolved to a point where my original vision is even more bulletproof more scalable more fundable than ever and the financiers and the backers now they exist and it’s no longer pandering to to government to the government or pandering to environmental established foundations and funds this is really about proposing to the crypto Rich the crypto Millionaires and billionaires who are most lot of the mostly crypto anarchists and Libertarians and say hey look this is the beautiful project that these people are doing is humble project let’s hook them up and and where I’m at now with the survival women project is also a synthesis of my study of the spankchain technology crypto economic platform for starting with webcamming but Altima it’s going to be a white label meaning their technology will be licensable to other brands and platforms that want to use their back end crypto economic resources and tools to be able to facilitate micropayments and streaming money so right now it’s it’s it a website that I current adult performer on and I do Tantra training and I do music and singing and dancing and all kinds of sexy stuff on there and that was like the first use case for them to get the project off the ground but what it’s all about what they’re in point are there in game is to be able to facilitate transmitting that technology that the backend platform to other people so say you wanted to do Bassmasters 2.0 and have a all fishing video streaming platform for people to get tips and cryptocurrency for their fishing fishing Expeditions well you may not want to do that jane.com because you be in association with the naughtiness that you may not may not drive with your your clientele but if spankchain is able to provide the tools to replicate there an EMT license basically they’re back in or an iteration of it then you could have your own version of that so ultimately this platform NY mentioned in the FaZe is going into a reality series concept it’s like might one of my favorite TV Productions was the colony series from I believe it is Discovery Channel on this was back in I think about 2010 they have the social experiment where they put groups is a group of people in in a sort of post apocalyptic scenario where they had to figure out how to survive and get along and work things out together and and I just love that and I will I will I live that that’s me it’s like how I have designed my life to be trans apocalyptic and I would love to continue that kind of that good biscuit build on that and so this platform survival women we love actually be a place where cryptocurrency economics are flowing and people who are basically watching the live streams of communities really going back to Nature going back to the land and working out and solving their problems and no hype no no fancy editing of putting together bogus storylines for reality TV shows no staging you know that I deal with B that this is real people and it’s an you know like webcamming were used to people streaming video games and streaming themselves masturbating in fucking with other people all that which is wonderful and beautiful and I’m all on all that with Spanx and everything but I would love to see and what this will ultimately be is a platform where you see people doing permaculture doing healing doing Shamanism building communities and going back to the land and broadcasting it and having people be able to tip in real time with streaming money with Revenue goals being that and just really create that beautiful liquidy and flow of capital to to support people who want to we’re doing this and of course I am doing something somewhat similar to what spanking is doing in the sense that the the low-hanging fruit or the first use case in it you know for Spanish and was like haha let’s use butts butts butts test out really Advanced Next Level Cutting Edge Let’s just call it streaming micropayments technology on aetherium and you and apply it to the industry that needs it the most the adult industry the webcam performers to work or getting gouged with up to 50% of their revenue being taken by the platform itself so spankchain is a 5% cut platform hence my feeling that okay if they’re going to set the standard for this new paradigm of a more empowered middle if you’re going to be if you are going to be an innocent in any sense of middleman in this in this ecosystem that you can really operate on on Lower margins because of the scalability so you know I thought that was great and I said all right I’m going to do 5% and so as they started with adult coming and eventually evolved into a white label system where anybody can build their own streaming money tipping kind of platform and chatting platform streaming web webcam platform might what I’d like to die when I’m starting with this idea of okay okay look here here’s a bunch of sexy babes all right yeah we do know we all were stupid it’s all hits all encoded in all of our ancient carvings and it’s it’s we know we worship the feminine form in all of its beauty and all of its phases of life and we’re a little bit hung up now on the Distortion of the youthful body as being all that is lovable and sexy bowl and all that and beautiful and I see beyond that and I am going to be very happy to leverage the sexual capital of existing models and pornstars in women who a huge following is a people adjuster like addicted to jerking off to the you know the shape of their bodies and the shape of their face and what not but what that can be a what would that can lead to an open the door to is people exploring the the beauty of eldership and the beauty of motherhood and the beauty of stretch marks in the beauty of gray hair and the Crone and all that so two women who I ultimately truly want to support the most with this platform are the Elder witches who have stories to tell and Magic to share and who needs support and who need to be given a sort of Social Security package from the radical ecological movement and so there will be you know a front loading of this platform with a lot of sexy babes to to get eyeballs on the site and to get to the capital flowing and eventually it will real rebalance more in the direction of real people real bodies MSA real bodies I want to say diverse bodies and diverse legal ages and all of that good stuff so that my green karma is is is nice nice and healthy and pure and that’s the goal is still to get there in 2 to apply myself really starting to step away from the the Trap of the black hole of narcissism which is slowly trying to build the Tantra pump brand if I can pull a bit of a Satoshi Nakamoto and and work myself out of a job and in create a platform in a technology that lives on by itself but I have no liability towards after that I have no leadership in after a certain point that is the the the the ultimate dream for me and I’ll say please go to the website please do look at what the models are doing there I’m choosing women who I ate a lot of them I personally know and love some of them are former lovers and and it’s beautiful to think that I could possibly have even all of my exes so-called I like to say former lovers but I really feel like wouldn’t it be so cool if the women who have loved me and tried love me and filled it letting me and his wife fell to love in the did the Trail of Tears it is all my fractured and broken past relationships and all them honestly I’d say the on the on the unbalanced the majority of my relationships have either not technically not ended or have ended reasonably well and if the love is still very strong and that even some of the sexual chemistry is still there but I think this is a way to distribute my love and to decentralize my love I do not want to be married to one person I do not want one person to absorb all of my financial means all of my emotional bandwidth I want to distribute myself intelligently and ethically across all of the women who I love and support them as single mothers in in those circumstances and just allow myself to be a conduit a connection of Bridge to Greater Capital to the first and foremost the women who I love and respect the most and even some of the ones maybe that I don’t you know there are women who from my past to wife beer could haunt me there’s women who stalked me there’s women I’ve had to get restraining orders against and I’m some part of me wonders will they ever you know catch up to me and my peak of success and want to ruin my life will maybe I could just throw them up here on this platform be like here look you’re taking care of don’t worry about it you know you played they all played an important role in my life if it wasn’t to learn how to love it was to learn how not to love excetera excetera so I’m thrilled about this interesting Dynamic and really it also is based on my study of the 64 yoginis which is a very fascinating chapter in the history of Contra or the history of Tantra it is considerably the root of what is called well it is one of the very interesting parts of the family tree of Tantra Zandt on tourism in India and it is one of the witchiest trippiest freakiest feminist eco-feminist Pagan anti patriarchal forms of of Tantra and it’s worth studying and in really this this idea of this chakra of 64 yoginis and the way that they construct their intelligent use of the Shiva energy the energy of the masculine for their rituals like I have learned that the Sweet Spot of being a man is to is to gracefully fall into the hands of ethical green witches were practicing Tantra sex magick and to be a conduit of energy through those rituals and this is a digital version of a male tantric goddess worship were saying I want to be in Devotion to all of these beautiful yoginis throughout the world and they can approach me they can love me or care about me or befriend me however they see fit there will not be a scandalous Weinstein type of creepiness coming me and this project it is a sexualized platform and to an extent if I’m taking pictures of sexy women and ask them to be sexy then there is a an important ethical train to be to be Traverse there and all that is to say that I have to have impeccable ethics about how I run this and I have to be while walking I would love to be the ecological Hugh Hefner Hugh Hefner I don’t believe Hugh Hefner was me too. I believe that there is a way to have your cake and eat it to be a successful entrepreneur in the adult and and and and Beauty marketing space and be revolutionary and be radical and not be a scumfuck and actually take care of people and help people and help women build families and build careers and build their education and and do this right so I go wish me luck and that if you are a crypto Enthusiast and you are Savvy at all with this technology please do go to the website please help me with the penetration testing and the bug bounties I will be able to pay at this point small amounts of people that find anything from typos to flaws in the the crypto economic aspect of things which are very simple now but they will get very complex and I want to shout out and also to give this. IO because they’re huge inspiration to me about how to structure this some decentralized aetherium based crowd Source funding platform and they’re doing that multi signature dispensing of funds thing they do they’re super Advanced like the area where I want to be there already way in the future and between the white labeling of spring change technology and hopefully the white labeling of the giveth. Ayo Technology all of these dreams I’ve had will come true and most importantly for me I really want to be Reba turn to a nun raped and molested womb and to live in a rape free zone where women are militant and guarded by attack dogs and have giant facilities compounds Island castles and where there is a perimeter that is defended in where we know that there is a from a tantric demon logical and shamanic perspective the Earth is under attack by demons that possess mostly men to rape and molest women and children and it is a rampant crisis and it was predicted and it’s in the scriptures so we’re deep in the Kali Yuga we’re deep into an area of extreme test pressure from the shadow Realms of reality and we need to be on guard and it’s Noah for me it’s not okay to say oh yeah your initiation into sexuality is probably going to be really rapey and really traumatic and disturbing and that’s just a rite of passage and get used to how the world works and people are treating sexual molestation and rape and even just botched botched consensual sexual initiation in virginity deflowering as just whatever you know in this in the more technology exists and we’re distracted people are and I’m not whatever about this because of what I was put through and I’m going to make this and you know this is my hopeful contribution to creating a safer world that if I Come Back Inn to it which I am pretty pretty certain I will I won’t have completely ascended to another level of being after this life I think I’ll probably come back to pick up where I left off and I want that to be way further along than where it is now and you know the consciousness of my family the consciousness of my mother goddess bless her heart we need to we can no longer say we didn’t know better about what’s happening on Earth with demonic infestation and sexual abuse and rape and what the time trees have to teach us about that and how we need to be writing new Tantra is about how to you know use the technology available to us now the ancient tantric technology was about sound breath movement and it all builds off of those those platforms and the sacred geometrical forms that you use to barricade and protect yourself in and out internally externally personally familiarly culturally socially everything I did the the the perimeter defense that Tantra used wisely and on the stork so-called light side or good side of the force it is a technology and so all of this new digital cyber crypto technology to me it can be used in harmony is in the internet extension of the spirit of the Tantra is certainly the shocked at Huntress where were talking about training the access to for individuals to enter collectively discover the truth of the living Consciousness and being and power of the goddess of the ambient Shakti which is the divine feminine energy that animates life if you follow this tradition and you’ve had these experiences and the the intelligent medicinal medical application of Kundalini activation to douche out the chakras and to liberate human souls and astral bodies from demonic pest that’s what I’m all about and this is a way for me to put some of that extreme tantric rhetoric under the hood of a vehicle that will move us in a direction of a safer World whether you believe in Kali whether you believe in Shiva whether you believe in Kundalini do you believe in Shakti whether you do yoga whether you retain your semen all of those Tantra Punk memes that I was trying so hard for soap for a mini years now about five years to really make that be what I’m known for and what am leaving with like I I could really just immerse myself fully into this project and let that all the guts of all of that thinking and all that rhetoric and all of that spiritual philosophy really just be kind of in the background cuz what it really comes down to is women mothers being trained to violently defend their worm space from the influence of toxic masculinity from the influence of rape and for there just to be a tighter parameter and then eventually hopefully we will win win back the Earth the garden planet and so yes please contact me if you have any questions please do check out the website survival women.com w o w o m b y n and check out the models more being added on almost on a weekly basis it’s getting I’m paying them handsomely to license our content and I’ve got them kind of lined up and so will be continuing to add to this and some of the top women in crypto are fans of this some of them are becoming models on the platform so there is going to be this beautiful bridge between the super Bush hippie chick I don’t like the word chick but there’s crypto chicks and there’s Bush hippie women and the spectrum of technophobia and technophilia are going to be you know united through this platform and I just I’m just looking forward to it but in this role and and see what happens and it certainly gives me a new lease on life and it is not at all hinged upon whether or not I am personally successful as a rock star as a movie star is it podcast sorry or any other form of centralized Eagle building narcissism that I know very very hostile and and resentful to at times about how I can fall into my own traps and be drinking my own Kool-Aid so I feel like this is a good a good direction to go to defuse my passion and to support this beautiful growth and you know if I get my commission of a little bit of sweetness a little bit of love and TLC as I go along and sit here in the cockpit and do all this programming and all this security stuff and all that that would be great and then I will feel feel blessed and hopefully you will enjoy the ride as well and this will be something that can yeah brighten everyone’s everyone’s life in the future so with all that said thank you so much and Namaste. Com and our journey together will begin hello dear beloved welcome to Township Punk podcast episode number 98 this is a blast from the past a recording I did with a dear friend of mine from the anarcho punk movement this was back in 2011 and 2012 was so big on my mind and it was a catalyst for a lot of Rapid transformation and I think we’re just beginning to see some of the changes that people were preparing for it that time so it’s kind of a time capsule looking at where I was coming from and it was a beautiful opportunity for me to catch up with an old friend with deeper roots in the movement of a knuckle Punk and Eco activism and psychedelic Shamanism and anarcho-primitivism green Anarchy and much more so I think it’s a great primer on the movements that I really feel like I’ve been most affected by and in the most aligned with and yeah I hope you enjoy it thank you so much no mistake I’m here today with a very dear and old friend and comrade at laughing coyote and the I will ask you introduce yourself tell us a little bit about how you personally evolved into a punk rock culture and anti-thyroid tarianism and where and when and how the environmental and ecological movement in Consciousness started to emerge with that path yeah I guess you were asking me earlier about how I got involved in the anarcho punk subculture and how I begin when in my life I begin identifying as an anti fart Aryan and I would say for me I mean it goes back to my first conscious memories Witcher you know maybe kindergarten around that. Of my life from a very early age before I even possess the vocabulary to articulate my views on external Authority and the attempts of those around me particularly adults to control me I had an instinctive aversion to being controlled and I definitely was with a we’re on a intuitive level that there was an indoctrination and socialization process going on around me one of my earliest memories is being forced to say the Pledge of Allegiance in kindergarten being introduced to that brainwashing ritual for the first time and realizing you know seeing seen the psychological mechanics at work and I went to to be grasping that immediately I I knew that by forcing us to repeat this his oath day after day that there was a process of brainwashing occurring I just didn’t have the vocabulary possess the vocabulary at the time to to explain that to anyone else but I was aware of what was happening and I was mentally guarded against it once I learned to read and write the once I crack the code of language I was probably 7 or 8 at that point I realized at that point that I the public school system of you know that was holding me prisoner at the time was standing in the way of my education and that once I had gained the gift of literacy I I I was quite prepared to just take it from there and strike out of my own I realized I didn’t really have a I have a need for this standardized State curriculum and I resented you know this state finance housing facility that I was confined in 5 days a week so I I definitely was looking for ways to rebell and to escape but at a young age it was hard for me to articulate what I saw going on around me and I didn’t feel like I had a lot of allies and I didn’t really understand the on the limits are the extent of my own personal strength and ability to alter my situation so yeah I begin exhibiting rebellious antisocial anti-authoritarian Tendencies at a young age tried my best to get thrown out of school I am putting on my my real political Awakening I was kind of a Rebel Without a Cause you know up until about age 10 or 11 and one of the ways in which I rebelled against the end of it the Stipe stifling conformis environment that I was being Riordan was through drug use and by the time I was ten I was already smoking marijuana but in a way that actually led to my political radicalization because I grew up outside the New York City area and couple times a year New York City radicals would hold events in Central Park that they called Smoke in where thousands of people would show up in a five to ten thousand people and they would open we light up in smoke marijuana in defiance of the authorities in defiance of the police and nobody got arrested because in that case there there were just too many of us so I’ve been hearing about the smoke ends when I was about 12 and that started drawing me into Manhattan more regularly and it was that one of these smokins that I encountered my first and largest newspaper was called overthrow and it was put out by some former hippies who still maintained an office On Bleecker Street in Greenwich Village former Associates Abbie Hoffman who unlike Jerry Rubin and some of the other sell out to their generation they they stayed true to the game and a they were definitely anarchists leaning and their paper overthrow was certainly an artist and I started getting their offices On Bleecker Street and that was kind of my introduction to anarchism actually before I even discovered Punk so that prepared me mentally for my waiter Discovery upon which came when I was about 14 15 I mean I’ve been exposed to the anarchist Punk didn’t come it’s wet come my way until life’s about 14 or 15 when I start getting supposed to crass and all that various fans that are part of the crass family musical tree so did you start he started collecting records and going to shows and Koenig that typical process of of starting to hang out and and and kind of clicks of like-minded punk friends and video did you go a lot of punch go through a the politicization process that starts out with a very that service Street Punk you know fuck the world kind of kind of politically vacuous rebellious approach and then overtime get exposed to stuff that’s more heartfelt and compassionate and thoughtful but you had already been seated with anarchists in Revolutionary and you know social justice Liberation type Consciousness and then some music that Express that is well through anarcho-punk where did you go from there in terms of the scenes you get kind of plugged in into that world into that infrastructure and kind or are we kind of peripheral to it and you’re just always a fan and where did your life kind of go from that did it have did did the discovery of article Punk take me Lily guide to Direction your life or was it kind of background to other things or how did you how did you integrate it in were you directed by at that point wake me up in a small working class town in New Jersey about 20 minutes south of Manhattan and yet still quasi-war rural so we had a river that ran through our town called the musconetcong and I had access to forests you know within 20 minutes of where I lived in the opposite direction to Manhattan so there wasn’t any Punk scene to speak of where I was growing up I was definitely in the minority as far as my musical tastes went and the most rebellious elements amongst my peer group were metalheads and that’s pretty much why hang out hung out with they could be they could definitely be counted on to engage in a Mindless acts of vandalism and I could count on them in a lot of ways I mean they were we’re always enthusiastic about coming out spray painting tagging we pacing but that was what I was left to work with and my exposure to the punk scene involve going into Manhattan and that’s definitely where I began where I would have to go to acquire the music I was developing strong passionate interest in I was always you know I never went through like an anti nowhere we kind of phase was never a gbh type spikes in leather punk I mean I always gravitated towards the more intelligent punk bands and I was fortunate that that sweat started coming into my life anyway and what I was initially drawn to I’m with a lot of those fans with in particular the British anarcho-punk movement was I think a lot of people who don’t have any R4 Punk don’t have any work for the music and therefore of never investigated the The Counter Culture itself because of the aversion that they have to the music I think what they fail to realize is that there was a spiritual dimension to the scene especially in the early to mid 80s and I think there was a spiritual vision that was being expressed you know through the anarchist Punk movement through those those bands what they were what they were channeling and what they were expressing it had a profound impact on my life and my world view and for 15 years or more I didn’t listen to I virtually didn’t listen to any other type of music is there was nothing I encounter that was was more powerful our had a more powerful effect on me that resonated is deeply with me in the core core of my being political radicalization came through a lot of those pants Christ even even early Chumbawamba. certainly all the cracks in Mortar hate bands and bands like antisec in particular I mean that was my my exposure to animal rights animal Liberation the critique of species is on veganism which is something I embrace that a young age end incorporated into my wife for 17 years so you got those that scene had a profound effect on me but I was always because I didn’t have a larger seen that I could conveniently connect with I was always on the periphery of it and remain somewhat a lunar connected but still doing my own thing and then and it was good that I was able to maintain my distance like that because from that vantage point I was also able to observe the Conformity that was present even in the punk counterculture and a lot of the role-playing and a you know just the conformist attention to wearing the right costume and I never got sucked into that aspect of things and was actually able to maintain a detached critique of it so when in the you were getting exposed to the anarcho punk bands to an array of different social environmental and socio-economic issues and causes and movements what led you to an emphasis on environmental the environmental movement several things that were carrying that were several influences at work in my life simultaneously and definitely bands like avoid some of the early releases were instilling a strong environmental awareness and me and from there I wanted to learn more and so I began seeking out Publications like the Earth First journal on I think the single most profound influence on me during that period of my life though when I was wanting to understand my relationship with the Earth better and when I was developing a critique of urban culture was discovering the anarcho primitivism journal Fifth Estate which was coming out of Detroit during that. Of time actually from the early seventies to the early 90s that came out of the Troy and I got exposed to in about 1986 and a critique of civilization that was being formulated in fit the state during that. Of time just really blew my mind and really resonated with me and that’s when I started getting exposed to an Arco permabase writers like John’s there is an Fredy Perlman and during that. Of time every issue fit the state was crammed with investigative and bibliographical weeds tons of interesting authors and anthropologists were being cited regularly and fit the state so that gave me a lot of investigative leads to work with and I began seeking out a lot of these books and kind of immersing myself in that body of literature which I refer to as the anti-civilization critique starting with Lewis Mumford who was I’m addressing some of these issues in the 1920s and on up to the the wave of anarcho-primitivism explicitly anarchists critics of civilization that started making themselves known in the early seventies see you had established the conceptual framework to reorient yourself towards a more intimate connection with the Earth send to evaluate things like where food and water comes from in an urban culture and where we tradition or how and where we traditionally in in more Primal states of being were in balancing in Whitmore and bouncing different ways and then obviously through the Earth First Journal you’re getting exposed to the current events and issues in campaigns and whatnot did you joining the environmental movement did you was there a lot going on a lot of community that you found on the East Coast or was it coming to the West Coast where you found more of the I guess maybe we should get into just a relationship with hippie culture in a relationship with the environmental movement in the underground is just part of the the Riff Raff the overall Riff Raff you know in end of the circuits of different events like the rainbow gathering his stuff how that experience the social experience of of things in addition to the you know that the book experience in the literature experience kind of help formulate that that well before I moved to Oregon when I was 16 my understanding of what an old growth forest was was purely conceptual I was reading about it I was reading about in the Earth First Journal about the early tree sets early incidence of tree spiking but all of his stuff was occurring in the Western United States which was which is something you know I could vaguely imagine in my mind but I had no direct experience with it I’d never gone any further than a any further west than Ohio so when I move to Oregon that’s when a lot of things begin falling into place for me in my life you know intellectually and spiritually a lot of connections were instantaneously made I spent my first month in Oregon doing nothing but hiking around the Columbia River Gorge experiencing old-growth for the first time waterfalls a web of wildness that I didn’t think even existed on planet Earth anymore excited I never had anything to compare it to Savannah and the importance of the work that are the first was doing became even more apparent to me and it became much clearer what was at stake and why people were putting their lives on the line so I began exploring some of the areas that I was reading about in the Earth First Journal areas that were on the chopping block to be to be cut to be converted into clear-cut some areas that if our service and the Bureau of Land Management had designs on the earth first Journal was at least trying to draw attention to these areas and I happen to move to one of the hot spots the Pacific Northwest so this was occurring all around me so that that really helped me understand on a primal visceral level what was at stake and it stopped being like a purely intellectual fair to me at the point and just as a as a biological being I started to a to understand the the the assault that was occurring on the Web of Life how about yeah I had a definitely a similar transformative experience first getting involved with that resets and getting out there and seeing you know the Deep all girls that live the real like temperate rainforest FernGully experience and that seems to get right into people’s hearts very deeply very quickly and I totally relate to that so I and you have a unique experience that I definitely want people to learn about and hear about having frequent in the rainbow gathering and it’s I think it’s kind of like the the original working class Burning Man or Poor Man’s Poor Man’s Burning Man or something like that I guess I don’t know how the two were late you know in terms of how they cross-pollinated influence each other but I think a lot of people who see Burning Man as a cost-prohibitive Endeavor aren’t aware that the rainbow gatherings is and you told me some fascinating and wonderful things about that so maybe if you can talk about your that as an influence and is an experience and also stepping back from that just your encountering repair your encounters with and your integration of the hippie culture proper because I think what would my right as a punk my path went through that cycle of content just in your face or belly is anarchy you know kind of stuff to getting more refined and more sort of philosophical and theoretical about power relationships in class and class Warfare and stuff and then it was later that I got into environmentalism the environmental movement in and then specifically like for me it was more the crust anarcho-punk in amcrest was kind of the synthesis of the esthetic aesthetically it was at the synthesis of like Punk attire hippie dreadlocks in hemp jewelry in tribal type tattoos and tribal Trinkets and adornments and what not and even things like Patchouli and stuff like that so there’s a thin metal and then that the black you know that the black clothing and skulls and kind of the darker more evil aesthetic of metal and then the put the Consciousness in the energy in the spirit of of punk which may have been a kind of punk where was just you know people that whatever like not even dressed up but just the spirit and it didn’t matter what the law says not necessarily like bondage belts in Liberty spikes and stuff like that although there’s the memes are kind of intermix here and there but it’s definitely very apparent that hippie influence on you know just to everything from natural living and wellness and you know that that a lot of stuff getting aggravated so I’m curious you you have you no more of a more background experience probably directly encountering and integrating what I think it’s easy to makeover generalizations about anything that you are you have no personal experience with her that you’re critiquing from from afar it’s easy to stereotype Punk culture until you immerse yourself and develop some appreciation for how diverse it actually is I mean with with in the punk movement I mean how many schools of thought of and currents and sub currents have I have developed within you to the larger category a punk I mean everything from from straightedge to queercore to cross to pop punk ad infinitum you wouldn’t know that unless you would really involved yourself in it and then able to understand the nuances and the diversity that actually exist within the punk subculture I believe the hippie counterculture it’s been my experience that it’s every bit as diverse I mean you can stereotype all hippies as deadheads who like to wear tie dyes and who are worthless Stoners who snowboarding Stoners whose life revolves around glass pipes but I mean that’s that’s just one small aspect the hippie culture yeah they’re they’re just as the drunk punx are there in the glue to glue sniffing paw the gutter punks in the exploited Punk’s I mean yeah there’s plenty of things about the hippie counterculture a better disgraceful and embarrassing but I’m doesn’t entire Spectrum it runs the gamut and at its core the hippie movement was and is a DIY movement I mean it’s kind of a precursor to punk and you know that’s obvious if you know anything about the history of crass and you understand that with the exception of Steve ignorant every other member crass came out of the London hippie movement of the late 60s they were older hippies who recognized the Revolutionary potential of punk when it came along and also the artistic potential of it which I think they also took full advantage of but more than it I mean crafts more than any other anarchists projects of the late 20th century I mean they were almost single-handedly responsible for resurrecting anarchism as an international movement and it’s important to remember that was a bunch of hippies who did that so I think it’s it’s important to try to stay broad-minded and to think for yourself another thing about the hippie counterculture the 60s it’s important to look at what they were reacting against they be they were reacting against a mechanized society and increasingly mechanized Society and some of the ways some of the things that they pioneered are things that I benefited from later on as an anarcho punk I’m the fact that there were health food stores for me to plug into and take advantage of that I that stores existed where I could purchase tofu where I could acquire soy milk and all these new products at 7 we became important to me I have two hippies the back for that the fact that I could find organic food pretty easily here on the West Coast in the whole organic movement organic agriculture was something that was pioneered or at least Revitalize than significantly strengthened by by the hippies the back to the land movement of the early seventies the late sixties and early seventies but definitely in the 70s is when it began to occur when a lot of people realize that the values that they were fighting for where we’re real they were important they were values that they had internalized and wanted to live by but the revolution that so many people were counting on a hurting in the 60s wasn’t going to a car so I think a lot of it quote unquote hippies at that point decided that the best course of action available to them was to get out of the Cities get out of Babylon as as they call it and get back to the land to individually and in a small group secede from the system and so I also had that 2 to take advantage of the fact that you know where I was living in the Pacific Northwest there there was still plenty of functioning communes that were were established in the early 70s that I was able to visit learn from stay out for extended periods of time I mean that’s that’s where I begin to learn to grow food myself was a practicing on some of these communes that had Farms that had functioning Farms that you know provided 70% of the food that the people living there eight I had I have tremendous respect for that wing of the hippie movement people need to realize too that there has been an underground psychedelic movement that has existed at least since the time Albert Hoffman for synthesized LSD and it’s been it’s been underground Adam definitely reach the certain Peak or Apex in the late 60s the mid-to-late 60s but as the state became more repressive and totalitarian towards the use of psychedelic medicines the movement just went deeper underground and that’s that’s one of the that’s something else I think we we have to thank the real hippies for is that one at one of their roles in the grand scheme of things as I see it is that they keep these medicines and circulation and these medicines allow people to reconnect with the Earth and what I would call the guy in mind on a really deep non-intellectual Primal level in a life-altering way will you see things and learn lessons that will stick with you that will alter your perception reality permanently for the better that’s one of the things that I think hippies of really done for the counterculture and that’s one of the functions I think rainbow gathering serve that a lot of people don’t realize that they’ve never been to one I mean they are essentially group psychedelic ceremonies you’re not required to take psychedelics but there’s those medicines are being used and they’re being used by a lot of people and you’re participating whether you’re ingesting those medicines or not and I think that was one of the strategies that that people adopted I mean the first rainbow gathering was 1974 and I think at that point you know that the hardcore hippies who weren’t turning back who would who would dropped out fully and completely in their mind spiritually there was no turning back for them they realize that to keep their culture alive and they needed to continually recruit and the rainbow gatherings have served that purpose I mean thousands of people stumble upon the national rainbow gathering every year and are never the same again I’m glad you brought that up I kind of tell people now anybody who’s watched the movie Avatar and enjoyed it is paying homage to Ayahuasca and Amazonian psychedelic Shamanism because the Tree of Souls is based on the vine of Souls which is the translation of Ayahuasca and I heard from Daniel pinchbeck that it didn’t put should come as no surprise that James Cameron had had the a by waska ceremonial traditional Ayahuasca experience before writing that so it’s definitely flows that all of the translucent fluorescent alien otherworldly life-forms depicted and and and all of that come from the tryptamine experience if you will end yeah it’s been Terence McKenna said it one point I don’t know how they keep a lid on this stuff so it’s definitely that function in that role and you know I like I can now there are you know that Santo dime a legal precedent Clinton pass the Religious Freedom revitalization Act or something to that something to that effect and Terence McKenna assist talked about you know I don’t know if you said at one point in the lecture I don’t know if you’ve noticed this but the system is not going out it’s not handing out rights to people not handing out civil rights it’s not handing you know it’s not handing out to the for the oppressed and minority or minority populations who have who feel that their human rights are not being respected to say the least for psychedelic Society to to emerge and take hold it it would have to be there have to be a second telegram pollution and if anything is like the precursor to that it’s it’s sort of veiled but I mean even in in Lord of the Rings there’s references to the halflings leaf and you know there’s all these pop culture references to do his medicine is and I think that you know with the maps that the big an organization that’s trying to get clinical studies done with MDMA and all that stuff in there psilocybin studies being done it’s it’s not going to be a taboo thing it’s it’s it’s coming dancing to the volunteer for specific. Of time and work on specific projects for us at different times of the year we get most of our interns during the summer but we get interns year-round and we have in our volunteers so we have Educators we have people who are research Affiliates and who published research and use the center is one of their professional affiliations we have research assistants who helped them we do work with events so we do some Outreach events I think on Wednesday we’re going to UCLA sextravaganza which is been happening for several years on UCLA’s campus that we usually set up a booth are we do that with other things around town we’ve also have members some of our volunteers go to conferences all over the world and represent us at different places and in different areas apparently were very popular in Melbourne just found out from a friend who’s been living in Australia for the past couple years I can’t I guess we’ll have to go there at some point cool it’s a new cloud-based model it’s elegant and overhead in the neighborhood drama and that there’s a lot of reasons to transcend that six location and you can if you can be a mobile you know unit then you can just take your your your laptop and projector and some you know what your handouts or whatever you have in this b a anywhere and then again because through using Skype and using other types of internet programs you know we can get into a classroom you know that might not be able to bring us there physically but we can still do it will set it up on our end and and just stream live stream wherever we need to be and it’s very helpful to cuz we so we have volunteers I think are farthest away volunteer that we’ve had so far was in Trinidad so we can have volunteers from anywhere in the world who can work with us medication programs and so they help us Creator update or education resources in our reference materials and putting together things to help teachers facilitate this in their classes they might actually be one of our Educators we train people to go out to those classes and to give presentations to places we have research assistants to make come in with a certain amount of background knowledge and how to do academic research and some come in just wanted to learn it and so we trained them and they work with people who are doing research in various aspects of positive sexuality and so some of them get to co-author papers and some of them get to work on the ground floor of research happening and get to really get into what that is and have a voice and have an influence in what’s being done in the academic world and this is course then starts to affect policy when we’re putting scientific research in front of people and saying here this is what the says that’s not the correct or let them besides these aspects and that can be very very helpful we work with other organizations so and CSF the National Coalition for sexual freedom is one of our sort of co-working his nation’s the community academic Consortium for research on alternative sexualities we work with them as well yeah I’m getting chills yeah I’m getting chills cuz this is a lot more than I bargained for and actually seeking a lot of what you’re describing and to have yeah we hope we have a good bit of time last time feeling compelled to ask you a little bit about I guess hey if you’re into taboos right blowing them there is all I ever believed starting this week there’s going to be the biggest psychedelic science conference in the history of humanity happening in the Bay Area it’s put together by that multidisciplinary Association for psychedelic studies and the there’s a lot of really important cutting-edge legal for the first time in decades studies happening all over the world with psilocybin you know I gave magic mushrooms and MDMA and Ayahuasca and marijuana and peyote and I will gain a number of other synthetic and natural organic you could say psychedelic compounds in a lot of it is at this point in this stage of the Renaissance of research it’s really about proving the safety the relative safety of different compounds getting the dosage to be sort of understood better at also having some really important clinical trials around ending ending addiction to harmful drugs ending cigarette addiction end-of-life anxiety sexual abuse and Trauma and PTSD from War veterans there’s all these different the demographics that are starting to have really groundbreaking results and they’re doing you know they’re putting in the millions of dollars to do the the research for all this and so I bring that up just to say that this is an interesting juncture for me because the a cultural cliche about sex drugs and rock and roll and you know the way that the culture of inebrians is starting to move a large part due to Raves and festivals it’s moving more towards entheogens than just Coke and heroin and meth and booze there’s more opportunities for people who are coming into their sexuality to have access to psychedelic experiences and so there’s the new Alchemy of innocent in these Generations between sex drugs and rock and roll and if it’s it’s it’s it’s a lot more sophisticated and advanced and and and just more diverse in many ways than it was in the 60s when it was you know Acid Rock and LSD and other birth of the the hippie movement in the 60s but I’m wondering if you have in your position they’re come across any any any people who are interested in in rigorous academic study of what this new sex and drugs and rock and roll Paradigm it is shaping up to become if there’s anyone interested in that that you know of he’s been there are definitely people who are starting who are doing research on these topics and very often the connection that ends up happening in the academic research is you know if we’re looking at the sex drugs and rock and roll that of course is going to look at the outcomes and too often I think the the outcome that gets stressed is okay so what’s the what’s the public health issue so is it possible or is it likely that people are might be transmitting STIs because they might be under the influence of something or maybe they can’t we do we have to worry about consent if someone is under the influence of something that then means that they cannot now consent to what happens at that point so what happens if everybody who’s involved have done that so where does that line get drawn so I think a lot of the issues that have come up in recent research has been either on public health topics around STI transmission or on consent topics recognizing that at least by law if someone is inebriated for example they can now no longer consent to sexual activity okay so what happens if everybody involved. That’s so interesting yet that’s exactly what I’ve been actually encountering and in just by life experiences it’s there’s there’s a lot of people now who were you can say you were having expanded Consciousness through empty agentic use meaning it’s kind of a nice way of saying psychedelic no drugs but but that’s an important consideration because just because you feel like you’re enlightened than that one with God doesn’t mean that you’re immune from being the perpetrator with that Enlightenment that you don’t think you have a potential for abuse and even if it’s not that sort of shady you know where that sort of Insidious there’s also just the issue you’re not in your body if you’re having an out-of-body ecstatic psychedelic experience how how do you get even if you can send it to the idea of something earlier in the evening that has to be held through somehow and if you lose the if you become somebody else or part of your higher self or whatever it could be theirs that’s some chicky territory for sure yeah so that’s I guess there’s you know that I’ve seen like at electronic dance music events you can call him Rave but that’s kind of more you know probably more accurate term these days cuz there’s within that whole world there’s different camps and it’s more no more more bride to just called electronic dance music these days but you know there is there’s sort of harm reduction education Outreach groups that put out one sheet kind of look like glass CD mailer cards you know about business matters and they have kind of a profile of what the different substances how did how to test and make sure that they’re real or are what you’re getting it like that there’s that whole harm reduction education Outreach approach that is kind of like what you’re talking about but it’s for the party scene in just for best and better practices around that but I could see that they’re being a sum interest group of people where they would want to see things the way you’re talking about it cuz I actually no way you’re framing it it it feels like there’s a lot more due diligence for people that want to be credible and respectable and using best practices to actually think with some of these analytical tools so I’m hoping you’ll be great if there was some overlap or or or Synergy with all this stuff I think more and more what is happening as we’re seeing the people who are actually involved in all of these different spaces you know the people were actually doing whatever it is we’re talking about having more influence on the research that’s being conducted so that it creates a more authentic overall experience and I think it adds a level of legitimacy to the research so rather than a researcher sort of from on high saying well I’m going to study this group and I think what they’re doing may not be safe and so we know the perspective that I’m going to come about with this is that well this is already inherently unsafe and now I’m going to show you why it’s in safe and I think more and more we have researchers who are in these communities who are in these faces or doing all of these things and you say you know maybe we need to do is talk to the people who were actually doing this and not talk to them with a preconceived notion of what’s going on or what they’re experiencing or what may be happening but go in just as a hey could give us some information to tell us about what’s happening and I think we’re seeing more of that so there has been research on for example like barebacking and there’s been research on sex workers experiences and there’s been research on sort of the the spiritual some of the spiritual Connections in the spiritual extremes that can be experienced through extreme SM activities light hookah coals and those kinds of things so we’re seeing more and more of that happening where people who are actually in these groups are part of the subcultures are also crossovers into the academic life and we’re just seeing an amazing amount of research that starting to Bubble to the surface and get a little bit of space. I think this research has been getting done for quite a while but it can be really hard to get it published because some of the academic Publishers don’t want to hear about it and I want you to my is any of these things so if they publish something on it they want to be really careful so with our journal and with some of the other journals out there we’ve been able to bridge. Cap and actually be able to show some I feel like more authentic stories well absolutely will now in this world have so many The Gatekeepers being dissolved by the power of the internet I feel like you know there’s a lot of bad journalism or untrained journalism so there’s got to be a lot of bad or untrained or Incredible or uncredible research but maybe it’s the methodology that can be what’s the word sort of feel like I could imagine what as you were speaking I was imagining will wouldn’t it be great to train the you know that like the anthropological participation observation ethnography kind of model but if you were to train if you were coming from that subculture and you wanted to sort of document your tribe and produce your own ethnography kind of amongst your friends kind of tabulate experiences and collect notes insured compare notes is there was you recommend any kind of Crash Course doing data collection for different types of research paper I’m doing ethnography in the field and sort of how that works and how you can sort of pull everything together there’s a really good little guidebooks you know a quick online search for for some of these guys are out there and ask her if she is amazing stuff I love doing a photography by the way I think it’s an incredible tool that doesn’t get use nearly enough and and it got a lot of researchers a colleague of mine she recently did a photographic ethnographic working with lgbtq Foster Youth and homeless Youth and kind of went out gave them all cameras and said take photographs of Your World of your life of who you are, and they did a whole art show you know like found a gallery in Downtown LA and just played everyone’s photographs and and you know really got people connected to them and seeing them as people who have life experiences and they’re not just sort of a category of disadvantaged kids so yeah I think there’s there’s an easy guide books out there just like a quick you can find some quick little things of how to do ethnography and how to do that and but I think a lot of that to starts with her own storytelling so things that you do and things that others do and and all the bloggers out there and everything of these are all forms of ethnography relay yeah that’s cool it’s just that it’s exciting and hopeful cuz I feel that I’m at a point where I’m doing kind of pseudo-scientific Rogue radical research that’s way too far out for any government agency or any academic institution to touch with a ten-foot pole so it’s it’s kind of on me and my colleagues and friends 2 do this sort of underground research but then hope that it it’s done in a way that it can be respectable or it can be legitimated later you know but it is probably good to do what you’re suggesting and actually have some some templates for collecting the data that mean okay here’s what would our experiment yielded and here’s the methodology in the procedure and you can test it on your own Hardy or lab or whatever replicate what you’ve done and so can you give enough information that would allow somebody else to replicate and get similar results in their own place or find totally different results which is also fascinating injured and interesting and yeah and I think that’s really I mean that’s science that is science Sciences pushing boundaries and science is you now let’s try a new thing and see what happens and science is telling a new story or New Perspective of a story and you know I think that that’s been lost over the past many years Society The Sciences inquiry science is asking questions and wondering why thing happens and how something happens and trying to figure that out and I think that we’ve sort of collectively as a larger society have sort of lost that Focus write the word crowdsourced crowd-source funding crowdsourced ideas and editing and an art I mean you were talking about that at that photo gallery exhibit and that’s a great example if you would call that a crowd-sourced ethnographic oh yeah photojournalism nice oh yeah that’s cool that’s that’s exciting time so I’m also wondering now do you have do you do you or your organization the Center provide any kind of consulting services or any kind of where you could be hired or you could be sort of commissioned to do research or to consult on Research I don’t know that we’re I don’t know that anybody is really hired to do research cuz wouldn’t it be fantastic if someone will pay for that but that doesn’t happen if we do get hired as consultants for a variety of things so either individuals within the organization or the collective organization May consult on certain projects or consult on like creative curriculum for a particular thing and we have individuals who are consulted on court cases and I’m legal issues so so there’s a lot of that we also get hired by professionals like to teach professional workshops on various topics so that happens as well because we’re a nonprofit although those things are often we you know ask for fee cuz usually the people who were asking for these services are people who can pay for it but what going out to the schools we’re going to colleges in touch or we have a student group asked us to come and do something with them or like what you know we go to somebody’s community of answer something we may ask for an honorarium but we’re going to do this stuff for free so we really depend on our donors and our contributors and the people who support us to kind of give us the funding that we need in order to do what we want to do and and to publishing and all the other stuff so our journals available for free most of our Outreach staff and education program is all for free so yeah a lot of what we do depends on donations as opposed to people actually hiring us officially to do something right on that sounds like a healthy well-rounded multi Revenue stream nonprofit you’re definitely fulfilling your mission in so many beautiful dimensions and I’m just really happy to know that we’ve connected to some really feel better about living in the world with you more offline 2 just to explore some of these Consulting opportunities that you have and see what we’re about and all of that stuff were completely volunteer so none of us are paid for what we do I don’t run a paycheck nobody wants a paycheck that’s completely volunteer and yeah we’re just we’re just trying to let you know we just try to bring it enough funds to keep going and to keep doing what we’re doing and to expand so we’re actually going to be expanding our face-to-face education program out to Chicago over the next few months so Craig can you do that that’s well thank you so much that’s great I feel like it’s it’s really refreshing to to hear that there are people out there who are so dedicated to the cause that it’s that you did not just going to slam the door in your face if you don’t write a check if you know the first five minutes if you’re not going to bill me for this podcast interview right now about an hour into it is do you have a sort of committee or task force or team or just even a person who is either because they are a trauma Survivor or because it’s just near and dear to their hearts whatever reason is there you do consent workshops in self-defense or rape and assault prevention and any any more of the or any any of the sort of preventative and treatment kind of education unpreparedness we do have programs around consent we don’t really specifically talk about self defense or or right prevention in the standard sense so we don’t really talk about here’s what you can do to prevent being raped we talked about here’s what you can do to not rape someone because really this is not on the victim this is on the perpetrator but we also talked about you know here’s other ways that you might think about your sexual self and your identity in the power dynamics that you may interact with and find consensual outlets for some of your interests and behaviors and the citiz and you know we talked about a wide range of those things so it would be great if the people who are doing the Rape Crisis counseling and who are just in the trenches of dealing with battered women and in and going in and and doing you know investigations to catch meant to prosecute the perpetrators of all ages if they were I would let it would be great if in it you know in a perfect world they were seeking you all to educate themselves on better prevention and better version or diversion from the criminal whole that the response like they’re coming as the First Responders two incidents that would have been prevented by a proper education on all sides right and we do have we do have information so some of our researchers and and because we have people who are social workers who have conducted research through us who have published on how to do how to have a sex positive approach to handling victims how to have a sex positive approach to handling offenders and that these approaches can really help reduce crime can reduce negative stigma can reduce it comes cool is that would that be on your website or at some if I if I can follow up with you later cool okay well alright I feel like it’s this is yes. Punk, Survivalism, and Masculinity with James Burnette TPP26

Play

tp-survival-punkIn this episode we discuss the punk movement, philosophy, and ethics and their relevance to survivalism. We explore a range of subtopics from rebuilding masculinity, permaculture, homesteading, homelessness, street justice, anarchy and more.

Survival Punk is a blog created by James Burnette. James takes a rational, creative approach to self-reliance, applying a punk DIY ethic to survivalism without any of the fear mongering or “tinfoil hattery” found in some other areas of the survivalist movement.

The Survival Punk blog covers a huge range of his projects, both success and failures along with a healthy bit of myth busting. He also provides a ton of dirt cheap creative solutions to common prepping needs and does a great job of integrating the paleo lifestyle with the prepping lifestyle.

Com and our journey together will begin all right welcome to Township on podcast episode number 26 I am talking with James Burnett of survival punch out, he’s got an excellent blog bringing the DIY Punk attitude to survival movement and vice versa and thanks for so much for for being here James you want to talk a bit about your journey that involves Awakening to survivalism in and how that enter played with your punk rock but I guess what drove me to do being interested in survivalism is is sort of a two-fold process when does the first part of it that really woke me up was in my teens I spent a couple months on and off being homeless and then maybe a year or two we are doing the couch surfing thing self-sustaining Union to carry stuff like I didn’t you unlock survivalist MGK I will be called Bug Out bags with his heel backpack with everything you need to Sorvino go on foot to survive you don’t know how to add my high school backpack in there with little Trinkets and stuff you know spare change the clothes extra socks you know supplies used for everyday life then not thinking that you know really that survival but that’s just that’s really what I was doing that and I was surviving and during that time I saw it was when your homeless people a lot of free time you know your your time is basically you try to eat and then you kill the rest of your day so me and my buddy Mike we are homeless together and we would sorcerer method was with Rigo sell plasma and then we would take that fifty bucks a week or whatever we eat nothing but like all you can eat buffets you know once a day until like 19 2000 the year 2000 prices you know like five bucks a day and food and then you hang out in malls and surf the Internet the rest of the day and then that’s where we got me in to speak to the beginnings of McDonald’s in through the man now it’s not a little bit more Define where you and I just kind of want the government to not be there in to leave me alone but yeah that’s me being homeless kind of broke my eyes and taught me a few things like you just realized that you can survive and you learn you a lot of good lessons on how to survive but when I was not home at the intended it lasted for a couple years and then I got a bit more successful you know got a full-time job and all that and I forgot some of that stuff you know I moved away from it and I just play around Monday on the internet and I was searching I was like nope always been a really big zombie fan so I was kind of looking for my wallet cuz zombie survival kit or something you know it you know Apartments layer and a Survivalist Forum where they are making real zombie you know preparedness kit that you know a metaphor for things that can go wrong in our society so what I found that for him it was like that it was the rabbit hole for me like I just I got sucked and I spent like four hours at night just reading everything you know and realizing it my stupid survival apocalypse ideas then we’re retarded you don’t like everyone is like the apocalypse happen to meet you there by opening experience and I went down that path pretty hard and it just makes my common sense you know no I’m not technically you know preparing for the zombie apocalypse but you know for things like a job loss you know that works in the building self reliance stuff they bill you my life where I was able to this past month walk away from corporate world and I could be more true to myself and you know I work for myself and then make that move to you know my own Homestead and you’ll be a punk rock Homesteader congratulations yeah and so had it so that was you been how long you been doing the block for I kicked the block off back in March of 2012 so I’ve been doing it for a while and last year I kind of stuff going on so I didn’t put the effort into it like that but I had been and it’s it really suffered for it so I got past you know All the Troubles I’ve gone through and I came back with a vengeance this probably in June July yeah so a couple years and still get bigger and have you have you been since you’ve been publishing content and building your tribe you know to the internet have you what kind of responses have you gotten from both sides of the punk rock movement and the survival move and I’m sure both would be finding your truth searches and whatever marketing you’re doing I’m just curious what what kind of reaction you’re getting right at that use that word tribe love that word I’m definitely I’ve made some I’ve made the best friends in the best Connections in my life through survival Punk just a lot of other light blocking friends and then you know just people that come across the block any other right me and you know what you’re doing this is this is awesome. I’m not I’m not a big-shot you know I I respond every one of those emails that’s really why do this you know the information and get that out there so I left when I get those emails I’ve had which is which is funny cuz I had had one guy when people unsubscribe from the email list it sends me an email saying you know Joe Blow unsubscribe from an email list and it has the option where you could you put in a comment while you did it and this guy wrote the longest unsubscribe email is like he’s like you were terrible person like punk rock is Barbara stick and he went on and on and on I don’t think he even read anything on the Block like it was just such craziness on that but I’ve had more positive reactions from people and surprisingly demographic I mean most of it was older sort of Christian conservative white men Rocky no soda that kind of thing I didn’t see any of that at the time you knows I was sort of the felt that if I put this out there from my perspective that you know there’s there’s got to be other people like me out there and put it on there their stuff with their of their Mohawks you know in their Doc Martens in so I think it’s sort of it rings true like a the punk sort of see you know that what I’m saying makes sense right so freaking response that I can get fans actually have a similar background it’s of being a runaway and Lynn ending up on the streets and then later becoming a forest activists and so I got urban survival immersion training by being homeless on the streets and you know doing that thing and then Wilderness survival emerging by being later at Forest activist we’re pretty much Bush hippies who knows saving the trees but but also it was mostly punks in the forest that were doing the tree sitting and stuff and punks and ex-cons are not expensive maybe I can ask Rusty Travelers gutter punks and ex-military Earth firsters and stuff so there was a lot of like a good drugs good tactics and good times and also the enerco DIY ethic instead of stove and then but I didn’t know you know much at the time about more conventional or traditional survivalism as a as a you know what prepping is a lifestyle you know right and then put I always had secretly had these fantasies about being a badass like Rambo or something you know and seeing Soldier Fortune Magazine to me like he wouldn’t even be so much cooler if we actually knew what you’re doing or just like drunk and hungover all the time and I think Punk has it has a aesthetic romantic fantasy about being organized and in those kind of ways and so that’s eventually it was a 2008 economic downturn to put it lightly that made me find the survival Podcast and that’s how I found you I think a lot of people got got switched on her on that time yeah so do you want to talk about like different the different messages in the punk rock music and the lyrics that that have a common ground with the libertarian and the just at Animas and sovereignty famous that letter within the the survivalist movement like when you’re if you’re at a bar talking to a more more typical should I listen you’re trying to convey to them that hey were all you know we may have different spiritual beliefs who may have different ideas in different areas but there is a common ground that we both are saying fuck this if we both want freedom Liberty autonomy and you know small skill communities stuff like that you have any do you have any thoughts about that 10 things that we can learn from the Lions preparedness industry these are common points did you look at me look at survivalist base are the number one rule I came across that want you know the government to do that you know that’s still here from what I’ve learned to my story of all preparation survivalist into how I’ve done a fire starter and a dog building in there that’s my album here I don’t need a big Corporation another one that’s definitely bigger than the punk world is steel wall image that you don’t have to fit in that you can be yourself and that’s okay shoshito Peppers obviously are mostly classified as crazy nutjobs would be having a mortgage and being in debt up to your eyeballs not nothing with that is fine with me and then say I agree with them on 90% of their views I’m not going to because they tend to stay at if we speak like a 90% of the issues and how many people do that though they’re like I can’t tolerate you now I have heard from all walks of life and it’s just through the fire that common ground and then just stay in that sphere you know if if you too strong a community community that needs to be improved on a bit more than survival Community I mean there’s there’s fragments really tight communities within the industry alone Will Survive think they can do everything on their own Define a goal for this is a build a strong tribe have a good life Great Plains family and I think it’s just it’s becoming a bit more if anybody else would think a switch for men just the movie Fight Club in the book speaks volumes to what were lacking as far as just wholeness and holistic you no more deeply meaningful lives of somewhere magical energy the warrior energy get to be expressed and used properly and feeling like yeah we’ve been stripped of how our relationship to Nature and totally compartmentalizing these cubicles are these few no blowing jobs and totally lacking at the tribal Brotherhood and Conquer I definitely put that together there’s just basically smashing without the music in the movie I don’t see how you could definitely watch the book last night Seinfeld trying to reconnect with a strong male energy and loose have more male friends I feel ya you don’t and I’m I read one of your blood post recently was it was about I think it’s about like them you think you were out of the store or maybe you were talking to someone who’s been a store and there was somebody a customer who wouldn’t we wouldn’t lift a box by themselves they called I’m in the similar how do you know if you want to talk a bit about that and what that signal for you and cuz I’m going through a similar sort of reclamation of the you know the mass sacred Warrior masculine power that is going down to a trickle in this what happened was before I left my job at work retail and he had a customer asking me to help him pick up a refrigerator and we don’t have you don’t need some help with that you know more likely songs like what do you mean I need help others of the fridge and the co-worker just take it up there and put it in there is like where you go I even remember thinking oh he’s just joking I guess I didn’t really happened I tried to the fridge is probably under a hundred a little less and less as a man a full grown adult man should have been a good health is no reason that they could not pick these things up unless they had a severe injury that they didn’t show from you know they’re missing a burger or something portal reclaiming your masculinity you tell me you can’t be trying to get stronger should be here like I can’t pick up everything what I’m going to try I’m going to be okay I can’t I can’t do that so that’s that that’s one point. To the bigger concept of the bigger the bigger issue that you know American the world we are leaving our masculinity I mean I mean I was mostly raised by my mom and you know why didn’t you know that’s a lot of people a lot of friends I know you know I look at to my father and I know a lot of women you know my age did you not have a father for their kids you know they’re being 32 you don’t have a lot of a lot of married and or real friends with kids is point and it’s just like not disrespecting women but I think we need a strong military life to be men yeah the village reclaim what I wasn’t born with basically yeah I think yeah then I’m totally there with you and it’s for my my I guess intellectual training in the punk rock movement I was very has always been buried in alignment with Erica feminism and critiques of the toxic masculinity that is destroying the planet it certainly it certainly can’t be argued that there’s too many women in the leadership of global politics and too many women in declaring war in too many women cutting down trees that’s it is I think it’s undeniable crisis in the imbalance of decision-making at every level and then when you have yeah I would say that the if it is weakness on the part of the men in power and not strength and not Duty and not honor that’s causing a problem so it’s it’s a confused State I think that were in where it’s like becoming less powerful or weaker physically and trying that’s not that that’s not the answer to rebalance the power it’s to bring deeper true soul level empowerment to everybody and I see it kind of went likes women’s sexual Liberation when they’re given for allowed the space in the freedom to really to really develop and grow their own their sexual power and freedom then they’re going to get men strong tough Warrior men to be sensitive poets on their knees begging for the nectar that they have to offer when they’re not totally suppressed and totally cut off from that power and that’s like if you like and you know female-fronted punk bands you can feel that that energy and that power and it’s humbling and it’s beautiful and do you have any thoughts about that the gender politics in punk rock and and moving towards reclaiming that all kinds of power and getting away from this phone the Dominator culture I don’t think that you know we need to embracing one putting down the other movement you know for finding a feminist as men take offense to because that means you’re for one you’re promoting one thing over the other I mean there’s a difference between being a feminist and being crazy extremes that aren’t healthy at all you know instead of saying you know I’m I’m I’m putting females first and I mean it’s really it’s bad for them because you’re you’re weakening yourself and this is not a feminist as a man you know make sure be embracing their own power you know if it’s a if it’s a female and she’s a feminist and that just makes sense but how did this kind of bothers me yeah it’s the same thing about that doesn’t if if if if women are politically disempowered and it’s empowerment it’s not about everybody being disempowered it’s about rebalancing power and I think I seen I seen what you’re talking about and that’s in really just dysfunctional self-hatred and and debilitating Behavior where it’s just it’s it’s just The Chronic sensitive being yeah just not not Rising into into that power and Ivan passed I was at a gathering recently where where am I was pointed out he know I’m probably a leader of men’s groups just sort of figured Warrior men’s group leader and he was saying that you know there’s that he applied to the women’s movement obviously it’s needed but there isn’t a really really conscious men’s movement that fight Club is really really you know unrefined like crude form of reclaiming Brotherhood and men Space to be organized in in and be strong and all that stuff and do you want to talk about what if you what kind of waves do you recommend for for males in this culture to reclaim their masculinity and to I mean obviously everything in the survival movement touches that place of learning things like hunting and fishing and fixing things and Building Things those all excited that energy and you’re not just playing video games or shopping or watching you know movies when you’re out doing Special how do you know if you want to share any thoughts on on how do we rebuild this strong men’s movement men’s empowerment High School beers what I found to be the most important thing to reclaim your masculinity is to get more male friends to spend more time with them so many men like if you’re asking me know like how do you have more men you no more guy friends are more female friends and most of the time because it just go out there to like you know make men for it is kind of soap making time for male friends and doing male activities you know I’m going to go hunting for the first time in a couple weeks with my stepdad be awesome best Festival one you you have to be to be a better man that’s that’s work well for me not not trying to the people please you know if you don’t you don’t like what I have to say and you just go off and then I’m working on it better on the website I just always not people-pleasing if you spend your time trying to make someone else happy than you never be happy yourself so that’s that’s another big one you know you can only you can make yourself Happy Hollow big one make male friends and then do manly things what is the what are some of your favorite manly things going in the woods like a doing doing woodwork stuff I cut down some dead trees recently on the on the future Homestead you’re trying to clear it out to make the other trees you know happier that trees try to open it up so I can come back later and give you some permaculture put in some productive trees for the first time and even know I’m a lefty and it kind of scares the hell out of me or are you in the ground and then splitting wood with an axe yeah that’s very like Mel traditional I just really always feel better after I spend some time and they sure you know I don’t hate hippies as much as I used to and it was fun to take a walk barefoot you’ll go hiking Barefoot that’s also reconnected that way hello go ahead go ahead did you see the Dual Survival series with Cody Lundin and every time I watch the first and second season to add Dave and Cody and David should I quit watching and Dave digs basically a ship in the skies I mean that was medicine for my soul you know that was see if the fight Club is Project Mayhem would have started with a lot of what they’re doing it probably would have been more sustainable but I bet that Union of opposites are really you know some that that’s it I mean that’s felt like a balanced sense of masculinity and of course big fight like a married couple yeah that’s interesting you bring up Dual Survival doing a project with a friend of mine and we’ve nicknamed Homestead High time we just working out at the man lifting weights is important to build your strength weight not help service healthy eating you know Christian family man and how we approach the problems of the homestead you know our different ways and then probably you know drama it up for the YouTube family with everybody but you can’t do that that’s going to happen Montana policeman the album was is YouTube videos amazing the amount of content being produced in a laboratory has to be amazing if they got tracked those lyrics I’m The Graduate following it I think it’s going to have to be a somehow I’m going to have to see if I can make it out there and actually having listen to all the podcast know what their names are with the people that come in and I end up being more of a drag but yeah I’m pretty stoked about that seems like contact them and see if I can just come shoot some YouTube videos me I’m not I mean his sister-in-law’s to Second long video clips and they’re spaced out there not more so I just want to keep in touch with you about that and I feel like man but the punk rock I mean I toured the country many times and then I felt like yeah she hits the fan concert going to survive you know you’ll have to start growing their own grapes and berries and apples and stuff to make to make wines and ciders and needs to keep from getting the shakes a lot of them but they’ll figure it out if you’re not already doing it enough of them already home brewing but it’s really the fabric of the trust and the the solidarity and the network of where you can go anywhere especially in vantuno that was a great privilege of being able to see so many places I’ve been in the you could be you know there’s a there’s an honor it’s almost like that what was it that you know the idea that you’re boarding soldiers or something like that you know your ass is from sick of patriotism to the nation of punk could wear it to town you know that and you need help or you need a place to stay or whatever you’ve got that you’ve got the intrinsic hand outstretched and it’s not obligatory it’s actually have more about not selling the idea but but kind of wax poetic on on how the punk movement is disempowering is it as a subculture underground survival kind of the sun Network I noticed its function to be some of the most giving pleasing and non-judgmental people ever she didn’t want to be asking you need to make money to make money as a statue statue in Dallas and then yes you would choose for her and she would like to be in Denver tomorrow so yeah just that like a like a million lights on it they want to Homestead they want the survival mindset and they’re a strong community and they are I got some good friends that I met your lady Jose today do you have chickens in Michigan you stop by and hang out some fun when I met the most people that do tend to email me for some Auto Parts I got some old people there like you back in the punk scene back in the day they are there like you know I used to have the best Doc Martens in you shapes it totally shapes your identity at an early age for life and whatever it was however you’re wearing on your sleeve or not it’s still it’s still down there deep end I wanted to talk a little bit more about the training that is being homeless and has kids from a pumpkin a survival perspective Gazette that really take me early on in and I see that movie was it called the morning after the day after about about the spontaneous climate at 1 yeah yeah yeah yeah he’s that movie is one thing that was great about it though but this is like it’s just so healthy and bad I was all right there is one particular thing that I thought was bad ass though and that was how the homeless guy knew all of the ways to survive and he totally save people’s asses and if you didn’t listen to him you definitely were going and I and he was doing things like stressing his clothing with with newspaper for insulation and just had all this wisdom and it in that that just came out for me right now thinking about you know the always all the I see the the homeless homeless camps you know and the different unlike all the Innovation and stuff and it’s like they’re already training for the zombie apocalypse they’re probably you know password in terms you know that in a lot of ways just so there was a documentary on this whole subculture this underground city almost two people I think it was in somewhere in the east coast but it’s like yeah it is that that’s cool but I have cool memories about just different kind of spell stealthy maneuvering and you know you like it yeah you know it I did I did some like a few last things like a dollar a gallon sure. I got one thing to do and I go into the customer service desk and like a little hatchback we were riding around in was so that means we’re doesn’t care that I took a dollar from them but you are like Lavo tips and tricks you know like layers with a lot of clothes layers work I did the obligatory you’re homeless you guys sleeping to park at least one night and I found the the gym equipment little plastic tube thing finding ways to to keep warm you know Heather’s dad such a bathroom one time the gas station. Are on me thousand miles per hour late but I’m here today. So he said with the bums giving out tips to the homeless people I haven’t done it yet I keep meaning to I have a YouTube series plan to my head were with this thing where people can go buy a newspaper is for $0.50 and then I mean but when you see them I quality like a backpacking first time Trinkets and stuff like that so what should I eat when corned beef corned beef they’ve got their systems down pat know what they’re doing they can stay warm they stay alive yeah man you know there’s another dimension I’m not sure exactly you know we may have been repaid have been rolling right past each other at different times and places that you know if you don’t know if you traveled much for the that was a big thing for a while train-hopping traveling and then there was you pissed different a very dense and interesting anthropology of of different types of Saint Stephen’s response like this if you know there was a lyric a sponge gutter punks Street punks crusty pumps at all these different you know they have different ethics and one time this was back in the I think it was 9797 there is there is a resistant exist Gathering and an asylum Gathering that happened in the Northwest and they were just big Mecca Funk Fest out in the woods there wasn’t one of them was in the woods room is in the city and it just brought down this article said it is it became ended up becoming a cross between Braveheart and Lord of the Flies cuz the the peace punks were getting we’re getting raided by the marauding you know we’re just hardened from Street battles in and so was just returning to Total it stereotypical morbid visions of Anarchy and Chaos in there this whole Intelligentsia that I could say call we’re all crying and eating and talking about oh no we’re not going to be able to save the planet because we can’t even get along in our own Gathering I got some horror stories from some of the crazy stuff is happening just like this is the Dark Side of Anarchy of you know without rule of law kind of behavior Chrissy with his lots of drugs and alcohol in Intercourse all end up on the street you know you had something some deep childhood trauma happen you know usually are you getting thrown away or you running away and so I remember it was you know that s life not only just the elements you know surviving the elements but the but the the story of some of them whether it’s sexual predators you know being young and being a male or female being at risk of that or he’s different tribes of punks that were more warlike or more kind of like Pirates than than the peace Punk’s or whatever do you have any any Horror Story’s or stories about that kind of stuff I have I have a app to really I’ve got one that’s what led me to being homeless God not even the first time but the biggest one was a high school dropout and then I paid rent but it was like just a step above squatting in this house to be honest we ain’t nothing but like cereal it was there people I never knew it was terrible and I it was it was bound to go bad that’s just don’t like the way that it had to work out you know one of the roommates group home living in before I went there he he didn’t tell her you really need to pay your rent man what are the random people that hung out in the house and stealing his drugs that was on loan from the drug dealer to sell to pay back to the drug dealer so then he got in trouble for then him the drug dealer thought they knew who stole the drugs and the whole time I’m like WTF. We moving in in like the next day or two days later Ford hatchback stop at night cuz you a dollar dollar gallons of gas we could do the freaking would we found to be about the safest place generally there’s a lot of people screwing with you at the rest stop we tried we tried sleeping in the cops is on his way out which is always annoying and I never went to the National homeless shelter like once and I’m not going to stay here has a funny short story just for homeless to let me know obviously I didn’t look like I was not on the stove Seattle or the cops or any like near misses and we had to escape crazy stuff I mean not I’m sure there is I can’t know nothing’s popping out me right now I’m just being such a sketchy time back then everyone’s carrying around these smiley faces and everyone have these different there is an interesting weaponology is the street so culture cuz everybody was so you know ya me nervous is just so many the drug dealers and the yeah interesting like the Warriors did you know that yeah it’s that remind me that I do have a little violent story that they selling drugs so I went and pawned it because he owes me back rent money and you don’t got me kicked out of my apartment housing in today I want to take a shower cuz it’s been weeks while taking a shower and apparently that got source told me and Mike out and there I was like what yeah he was like getting crazy I like how I don’t want to be right back and like he was his mind around it he got me kicked out of my apartment stole the cell phone then lost it or something your bass guitar buddy I know I got that money and bought a bunch of Chinese buffet with it you stupid yeah there’s a lot of lessons from I guess kind of Summer take a laboratory the Turkish that try to solve their own problems even when they get really ugly and and there’s like a code of ethics that you don’t you never call them and you know he got to deal with me and then you got to live with the consequences of things things can go on you know a few days but that’s when negotiations and such a good skill in pesos and then why you have to have you can’t really be alone or you got to have people that you are you know cuz one it’s like one incident and you got to grow eyes in the back your head for the rest your life you know so you better those eyes in the back your head or your crew you know you’re trying have you got to then an alert yeah there’s this one guy actually in a spawning a lot of stuff like I was with a friend of mine at this National you see these free concerts downtown on the riverfront bigger bands you know nothing nothing nothing like the holidays truck method you can they broke up years ago but you can still find some and I didn’t pass into a fight but it got dark lotion sorry about yelling and talking trash and they bite I would like to listen to music like this is sketchy sketchy bad vibes anyway it was homeless when you know being a good person and you know not screwing yourself over you know I didn’t want to take yourself out like that one of the survival Podcast that can really gets me is one of the Tactical training guys and it’s like don’t go just don’t go to stupid places that stupid people on these stupid things there’s some order of that list of places with stupid people do stupid things in this is stupid cellmeter stupid stupid things sometimes evolve to a state where instead of this really Slappy dangerous sometimes cute man slaughtering Punk drunk Punk violence it could finish itself into more of a you know our style of Kung-Fu versus yourself Kung Fu and have a kind of orderly too old even like Drunken Monkey Style but we’re not going to just stab each other and bleed out cuz their blood thin cuz they’re all drunk which happens a lot or throw cinder blocks at each other’s heads ritual violence happens and Encino tribal societies and stuff they’re there is there’s a sacred violence pattern that can be restored where it’s like okay transgressions can get resolved through ritual combat and it’s not Mortal Kombat and it’s not sloppy either in my life so pissed and I was like History of Violence Tracy be knowing each other through Palm strikes what time is it at the Mass Appeal for the mosh pit right there you know it to get that violence out in this world space control matter you know you yeah yeah and I’ve seen Miracles and Feats of physics that I was talking about this and it was someone else not too long ago about how there’s a magical kind of cauldron of things that defy physics in the mosh pit you know I’ve had the acrobatic things happen that you just met major injuries avoided because there’s so much positive energy and I was like I read the article and I was like this is probably going to be spiritual elements in by throughout history of like you know physical exertion between between people and causing a song from Beauty and then they took it to a whole different level and it’s been done throughout history and they gave examples of totally man and then I just wish that it it seems like once you get past 25 you’re not made out of rubber anymore when you fall it actually hurts and some kind of like in the the geriatric Mosh Pit area now in better shape than I was it I like a maybe through just a good eating good living things I can Marshal the best of mouth yeah man music business group called Tierra Viva I believe they’re called in Mexico and I got the door down there a little bit and I met some of them and there’s videos of them smashing to mix I don’t think it wasn’t called that they’re making but they were mixing a person plaster kind of to help with respiratory problems from the particles of concrete structures and and they had a whole permaculture punk punk permaculture Collective down there doing gardening and stuff and they were marching to mix the stuff and I was totally and you see people mixing kava on YouTube and they’re always like something you know it’s fake conducive to is any any Musical dance style but definitely there so you can see that’s also Punk faster something you know no be awesome at would get some get some bad to come out there and play and then sometimes I’ll be there scrap man will do you have any we’ve covered a lot of good stuff and I’m glad I’m really feel to meet you now and to this meeting I’m sure we’ll cross paths
