More about Manny:

I’m also a former Christian youth pastor, had a small but successful stint as a professional wrestler in the indie circuits. I studied religious philosophy and social psychology before dropping out to pursue my own path. I’ve help produce and direct several Renegade Disney projects and am an Occult enthusiast. Other than Porno Plague I am launching a myriad of other projects under my company name; “Obscaena co” which specializes in purposely obscene content. I’ve dubbed it, “social experimental entertainment”. (Porno Plague being a branch of this endeavor).

“Your cadaverous pallor betrays an aura of foreboding, almost as though you sense a disquieting metamorphosis.”

Com and our journey together will begin hello dear beloved welcome to Township on podcast episode number 210 I’m being joined by manifestation and he is also known as the ghost host and is that main project we’re going to talk about today is poor no plague which I am a member of the XPS. Net professional community of people all throughout different sectors of the adult industry come together find work share resources share knowledge and insights and the great forum and had good luck just reaching out and in asking for folks to they like to come on my podcast and talk about the work they’re doing in the space I’m definitely like an independent DIY level producer performer and always interested in more networking opportunities so many is one of the folks who who stepped up and took a look at some of my work and some shirts and blinks and I was a really turned on by a lot of what I was seeing at the porno flick sites and also very interested in the edgy taboo religious and spirituality themes that were coming up and though we may we may represent the movie working on behalf of different different entities and duties but stay as far as I’m concerned I’m interested in the art and creativity and the expression also the sort of just non-traditional and more which is more DIY artistic expression and interested in in just different cultures in different ways of people coming out now in and making their own telling their own story through pornography is very interesting and very fascinating from anthropological syrup refectocil with all that said many thank you so much for reaching out and I’m excited to hear all about the work that you’re doing and what brought you up to this this point of taking this role is that the ghost host and thank you for the invitation really I was a great introduction and you’re good at this a manifestation I am the coordinator for the plague just to get started God came down from heaven and told me to go out into the world and find 12 prophets to rain down a smile like the likes of which the world has never known so that’s pretty much where we’re at we’re introducing profit by profit and non-profit represents a different region of the world and Tabu category of pornography that is very exciting and so then that that excites me about this is that a lot of the religious right backlash against also called smut Peddlers is it they they seem to think that the narrative that you just explained in very plain English is like the the secret conspiracy of all of the smut Peddlers out there and I really think that most smut Peddlers are not that sophisticated in their permission in their their operation and didn’t yet you stand out with this Mission as a very purposeful very formidable adversary to to their agenda so please let’s unpack all this like I’d love to get into the Gory details like what was this experience like of this with this Revelation and and tell us obviously about the the prophets in the taboos can you just throw to unpack all this and go down the the table of contents absolutely I can give you a little run-down Prophet by Prophet the first one comes from Nazca Peru what does Masada mean she represents South America and routine of corn on the second one I came across was Herod or he goes by the username meet the creeper and you represent your lawyer in your hidden cameras things of that nature we have I see we have a c k e r r r Asian Ali Jihad from the Middle East Bernie Lomax nice little throwback there he’s our vintage porn bus Blackmagic representing Africa course whole gang men that is so cool mean it with this / I’m getting is more of like a graffiti crew or like a hacker team or something like a crew of people probably in somewhere in the 20s 30s ish I would imagine but who are like at the peak of having so much passion to express themselves and to be really out there in the world and not not afraid of like the future consequences of who you know that the things as you get older you get more conservative you get more cheerful about Grand Vacations but at a certain stage do you know when I think weed collectives of younger folks coming together in the same like we’re going to fucking do our thing I die Digger this Ensemble the sensible thing so how did you go about finding all these folks I’m basically all your big internet websites to find a landform for amateur models meet the creeper comes from the infamous and and websites and the darknet has traveled around and I found all these guys and we all sort of agreed we had this unique perspective on porn especially with the age of the internet and don’t you know on the front page of corn and you see all the starter box inside the videos and he’s definitely a darker nature in human beings and it seems like the manicure World wants to sort of ignore its we want to exploit The Fetish culture II deeper level and actually I think the progressive conservative religious right forces have basically they’re reaping what they sowed right because now if they would have let people just be free and be themselves and not be afraid and ashamed of all the stuff and it wouldn’t things wouldn’t wouldn’t have to to be we have the way they are now which is like people have to really put their lives at risk to to experience pleasure they want to have with her it’s just kind of vanilla almost sexuality or more extreme BDSM whatnot so just give us sort of the elevator pitch or or even more if you’d like half of what they’re their back story is like I feel like we’re playing a video game is like Street Fighter and you get to little bio on you see like they’re you know where they’re from and you see that that’s a great way of putting a man especially that first that yet the court has been very depressed for a long time and it’s exploding everybody’s face which is why we use the hashtag of leg is coming actually what we do is sort of satirical in a way so we can work characters especially with the category that the rent in the reading the world to represent they sort of them backlash against their own culture for example of our first model of the Latin model tourism sodomy she comes from here in Peru South America near there’s a very Macho culture but behind the scenes there’s a a lot of transvestites were example I’m not sure what the politically correct term is anymore so she sort of going against let the Macho culture here and being the dominatrix or middle eastern model Ali Jihad she’s been an arranged marriage and she wears her her facial mask and sort of expressing strong she’s a lesbian and she can express yourself more freely and I’m that’s that’s really the jest of it is I’m work splitting the taboos for all these different cultures where these people live like a man that is so exciting so now I want to go I want to be able to go and see you like where would I cuz I I looked at a couple of the the tube sites and I’m just kind of surf the bit on the different the different videos but is there a place online where you have sort of like a perfect profile Pages for each one of these characters that’s a great question actually I’m right now we have four notes like that, which is being built up and yeah it’s it’s sort of anybody’s guess right now through the tube sites we don’t have an individual profile for every character right now but we’ve only really introduced our first two prophets Tortas and sodomy and meet the creeper through the tube sites of that you’re going to see the majority of their material right now and every month we’re going to be releasing a good bulk of the next Prophet character represents a different month of the year they all ironically have different zodiac sign things of that nature well actress is so cool man I just feel like this is this is going to be the next Comic-Con sensation because there’s like a cosplay element going on there’s there’s this so much is this it just feels like it it it it hits the spot in so many ways to be able to I am just realized I wish that I was I wish that this was part of of my my younger years and I guess I still I myself I still have like a a character Persona and what not but are you so are you imagining this is going to scale to a point where I mean you said the prophecy was for the pick up the commandments so to speak that you got was for 12 but you’ve do you expect that this will kind of spark of movement and people will want to join and want to fit in somehow to this Mondelez affair so I’m never anybody who’s not one of the main prophets in joining and as soon as they’re material or fan photos but yeah it’s definitely sparked an interest in a lot of people and in the coming months websites going to have a ton of material in content that we haven’t been able to Sean to do besides yet cool man well that’s exciting and it’s good to know that this is disgusted look forward to and in the sub Center development on how it how have you been getting attention in marketing is just been I’m like super curious how how the high be able to stand out I mean this is so unique I can see it it’s super compelling and I’m just curious of all of the strategies and Pathways now with the internet that you could you know that you could explore like what has been working well for you as first marketing promotion strategies right right a little bit and marketing has been pretty easy you know through tags and just being completely different people are interested whether they like it or not so I’m getting to where we’re at now we’ve been building audience through the tube sites before the actual main Hub websites open up and it’s been an easy man to Cakewalk building up her audience that way we definitely have a big punk rock element to it it’s been fun mended the comment section under videos are like YouTube everybody’s arguing about our philosophy and people are confused and keep some questioning I think that’s really keeps on coming back to you you know what else this reminds me of that is so near and dear to my curly you know very extremely fucking rebellious in earlier years was the band Gwar your did you ever get into them where you found of Gore I love war actually yes. Man I was watching some interviews on the Sally show just this morning before they embody that that I’m just remembering the lyrics and just this hilarity and discussed and satire and revulsion that they embody but it was also like so compelling and so I might think the first time I saw I was exposed to them was in that movie with Ethan Hawke called Mystery Date were they actually were at a club in the movie Theses you see that and now I think this is like the second coming so you guys should start a band 2 sped up like Punk background music almost like a noise like a handjob music video and and I love that and I love this idea of like just the spirit of DIY men porn now being something that we couldn’t really we certainly couldn’t publicize we could make it back in my you know de I guess you could say but now it’s like a you want to like make a statement you just get a camera get on a tube site and Bam like do your thing and throw some music on there so how does punk rock play into your personal life and is it part of the 1st fabric of the collected that you’re building one. oh yeah for sure man I’m a during my youth punk rock was a very inspirational and I saw the same in your videos talking about your background and growing up I’m punk rock’s been very important to me what are some of that what are some of the styles that you were gravitated towards in the in the punk movement back in the day man up Hed PE Randstad the transplants no bands like that big Marilyn Manson fan Blink-182 actually coincidence are prophets that were found throughout the internet like tortoise inside of me is actually meet the creeper by Rob Zombie Blackmagic Hed PE all the usernames actually I’m sync up to sort of 90s nu-metal punk rock band song then also I’m somewhere I’m somewhat scared to even invoked the name but it reminds me of the Juggalos in the Insane Clown Posse and like the the cultures that spin off of bands and the sort of the yeah man like it really is the glue of generations coming up together and getting into extreme music of whatever genres in I really appreciate the people who can appreciate appreciate the people who can appreciate multiple genres and be into the goth industrial Punk metal and you don’t have all of that be influences in and what not so yeah me hopefully you all will be those of you musically inclined will will start to produce tracks of your own to go with them is that something that anyone’s doing or you just talked about doing oh yeah we got to talk to her a couple bands I’m here locally in Peru and back in the states that we’re going to start getting music from and no make it more than just born doll some music videos with slower videos been equated to already right now this is what is this is what is also a very interesting layer of legal protection for us pornographers is that if there is political educational or artistic value I believe those are verbatim words that protect you from sanity laws you know then don’t quote me on it but but I’ve looked into some of this President and I know that like there’s certain things Scott blood you know there’s a list of there’s like a black list of of things that will definitely get easy obscenity prosecution happened but but a buffer I don’t know so much about exactly protect me from you no liability with those things would just in general like if you can prove that it’s has artistic value and instantly if there is a music video element and certainly there is a a message that’s coming out with with the the statements that you’re making is that the backlash against the repression of each culture I think this is a hugely I mean who for all we know they’ll be a you know Museum a traveling Museum Roadshow to like demonstrate to the world that says he’s beautiful acts of political art that you’re making I certainly feel that way about it and I know there are places you know around the within the sort of dungeon gsm network and in the even the sex positive sort of network where they would you know I would love to like see people organize a film screening like a film fest and have your videos be be like a whole night you know the phone says they’ll be great right actually obscenity laws of something that incorporate we try to walk that fine line does he know if the majority is offended then you’re in trouble that’s basically with the obscenity laws boil down to which is also why I like to call the social experiment to entertain so there is some kind of scientific value there or artistic for example in press that you knew that much about it then it’s it will get me what something is cool about what we’re both doing is like exploring these religious themes and that is usually what will get you the most backlash because people are so so neurotic about it and you know they just can’t it can’t enjoy you know even though the humorous or satirical aspect of it at all and there’s certainly people who don’t want to see anything interracial you know for fundamentalist reasons are simple you don’t want to see depictions of religious figures of course defamed and that I mean altimate sacrilege me weird then the territory of ultimate sack religion but I also feels like the Most Blessed place to be so I don’t know you go figure yeah yeah for sure man in the dangerous me about your work to I’m a big spiritual into it while I feel like I’m exploring more of those Fat Tire you take it very seriously I saw through your videos and I’m interested in that man at the beginning of this during the introduction you said that we might be coming from two different entities I was wondering if you could touch on that a little bit cuz I’m interested well well thank you I mean you’re turning your back on me a little bit I’ll try to I’ll keep it short so we can keep the focus on you and overall but but I do appreciate the conversation last back then and I’ll say that this is an interesting a very interesting juncture for what were you and I are talking about now because I would say we we live in a world where and a time where we Revenge either directly or indirectly like horribly victimized by the corrupt pedophile Empire of the Catholic church that owns more property than any other single entity on the planet in this basically mine fucked and spiritually abused everybody who’s been forced to speak English and Spanish for like centuries in that space of like spiritual violation in trauma it’s very difficult and I think the punk rock movement in an even Marxism and communism the there has been a major rebellion and backlash against all things religious all things spiritual and then and then we sort of Miss this this important more indigenous deeper element which is a Shamanism a shamanistic approach to having right relationship with the spirit world which contains parasitic entities synergistic enter the entities and sometimes neutral entities but you know having an appropriate and spiritually intelligent shamanic relationship with energies and entities that are unseen and then interacting you know socially and sexually with other human beings knowing that there’s this greater invisible landscape that’s that’s where you know the the science and mysticism really has value and end I would say like the lake will freeze apples not all demons are bad like if you just start there and so you know some of them can be trained to be your lapdogs some of them can be trained to be your assassin some of them can be trained to or contracted with and bargain to be bounty hunters or others all kinds of relationships that can be cultivated so that’s why I say it’s like you know we maybe we may be dabbling or playing with different different archetypes and energies in and you know I come I played a bunch of Death Metal I I used to carve myself up and paint pentagrams and six six six with my blood and you know that was me just sort of dabbling in the realm of Ozzy Osbourne Black Sabbath Slayer level consciousness of evil forces and then getting more into Shamanism understanding yeah you know that’s kind of a child’s play the really more sophisticated mean is going to understand the Continuum and the taxonomy of the spirit will a little more and then actually be more of a designer and not just kind of like be spoon-fed Satanism or something kind of kind of false in in fake so like I got that vibe from you on like I didn’t see this what you doing oh man this is like really cartoony want to be like poser Satanism something that I could see that there’s a deeper message in a deeper sophistication so so back back to you I guess what what how would you describe your the way you reconcile the dark and the light and you know the Divine and the hell is she there all bunch of assholes I agree and we will expose them those kind of people that sounds like the route you were going with sounds like you’ve been reading on a solemn in a little bit like the Lesser key in the ground wires you know some deeper reading material there be I know exactly where talk about those are Satanism and yeah we’re not about that mean we like cartoony and satire don’t get me wrong definitely smells better than anybody like you it’s not all that simple indeed and actually I should say to to clarify actually love the cartoon aesthetic I love anime I love graphic novels I think it’s by the best way to teach a more punk rock spirituality is through a more fun in approach in with art and so I’ve definitely made Might my logo is a cartoon as well so I should say I don’t want to put down the cartoon that’s not an insult it is it is you say like you know what what is what is the angle but I could just tell you no Tortas and sodomy there is a vibe that is being exuded where’s like I don’t think I’ve seen a happier person in my life Glee and pleasure total debaucherous Hedonism that is making this woman seemed so fucking thrilled and I think a lot of the Sexes negativity just comes down to jealousy that other people are having more fun than you are and so we’re proving to the world that did that there’s this is just more fun to be more open and more experimental Yeah man so what are some you have more kind of future plans things to do that are you rolling out today have also coming up on the horizon and we should Nova other than the corn world when do you plan on getting forming like a an LLC or Corporation or somehow in like starting to set up booths at the different porn conferences and actually having more of like a what’s your brand strategy overall or is it you’re going to keep him or kind of just DIY and oh yeah we’re definitely going to start a cult and set the world on fire there might be The Thrill Kill Kult now they say that another one people have so much fun playing with his stuff so yeah that my grandfather was a tour bus driver and he toured with the Lords of acid umbilical call back in the mid-nineties well well that explains a lot doesn’t it scare my grandfather was awesome. Manuel fucken table volume down and tipping hats to all of the the shoulders that we stand on the people who like really yes if you are there other other like industrial band influences that you like or got there in like that Nine Inch Nails all the way men there definitely awesome yeah yeah I hear you man and so have you thought about doing with say like a like a lot of a lot of strip clubs and dance clubs night clubs and stuff they will feature adult performers as feature dancers and they make tons of money doing that one if you thought about doing like a burlesque or like a cabaret show what kind of thing with if this getting some of these folks together in and actually kind of doing like a dance troupe or something very interesting I can play with that so that kind of gives you more like a I feel like this is what I’m seeing a lot of a lot of independent adult performer personalities do with their brands that don’t have like a the safe for work personas online and then a not-safe-for-work personas online and they will just wear a bunch of different hats and be like Jack’s and Jill’s of all trades in Renaissance men and women and just developed a huge you know YouTube type of following and also could be like having little teasers for pornhub or whatever and so yeah hopefully that you all can can scale up and just kind of like you said be a fucking play again infect every fucking stuff yeah for sure man and you said it best to I’m we have actually been doubling on YouTube on Wii with Channel called Trigger Happy I got to get you into Fun trouble well so is there a do you have it I would I would love to if each of you all had a Manifesto on your journey to the profile so that you know people could that’s kind of like how they did the Gwar thing right they said they had an origin story and they kind of had like they’re just rude and crude fucking coming days relatively new but yeah you definitely have the right idea everybody comes from a very unique background to wait to post this until you have the website up and running and then I can link to it and it can be a seamless experience and go and check it out that’s going to be awesome yeah yeah man I don’t think I’ll be longer than I’ll maybe Saturday we’ll have it all posted up on the website Cool all right, it’ll be on the main page Okay cool so tell us about your mysterious many what how did you evolve personally to get to to get to this point of fat that’s a hell of a story where do I start guess I was but I was bullied a lot in school and one thing led to another and I got into professional wrestling just to kind of stand up for myself and professional wrestling lead to getting into stomach work quite a bit and I was inspired a lot when I was a kid by like the Indiana Jones stunt show at Disney World and the crazy story of how it all came together but one thing led to another I got like a big following in the professional wrestling circuit and that’s what led me to want to start my own kind of parity quote and would that part of leg was born through the call aspect of it all like trying to build a following in that sell up the tube sites and all this girl into it so fucking cool man I miss something that just died just resonate with which is it everybody out there is in denial that they are trying to build the cult of personality around an idea that they have that they think is worthy of other people you know giving a time of day to and the the level of transparency that she have about like that I just thought it was Dirty parody cold and just be real enough to put words in your mouth but I really respect that and I really think we should just if we were more honest about the really you if you if you have a creative idea and your wealth with for one there’s a difference of two types of people almost in this world I think it’s like you have producers and consumers you know and if you’re not making a movie out of your life Urban going to be an extra in someone else’s life movie and that’ll be all she wrote you know so so you can stand up yeah you have your idea you birth your EBT you have your brainchild and your you create a monster and if you want people to participate in the in the cult of your band or the cult of your your graffiti art or the cold or whatever it is there’s no shame in that and the only shame is when everybody isn’t their own coat here you know the only shame as if you were you’re not also doing your own thing and rotating that the attention that power so I thought I’d like this ensemble cast that you created and you may be the founder but doesn’t sound like you’re the o’mighty overlord is going to be hypnotized and manipulate people of sounds like people have a lot of autonomy and it’s more of a saturated cold if you will Geico life worth writing about with right somebody else’s life story well that’s a good one yeah and then Jim Morrison said did you have a good world when you died Jim Morrison and get stuff and get stuff for me about if you don’t want to tell the story of how you expatriate it and is that appropriate to share or what was that you want to tell the story of cuz you’re no longer in that did you expatriate from the US or you can you tell that story of where you’re you got relocated oh yeah yeah yeah I can do that no problem I’m currently living down in arequipa Peru and I got married back in 2015 and sleep I was taking care of my grandparents to lay passed away and decided to just move here with my wife instead not a very interesting story okay so now it’s I’m frustrated because you’re there you get to observe is like so you’re deep cover operative Tortas and sodomy doing this very taboo and in in Latin America you don’t fuck around and break with the Catholic Church you know there’s serious fucking mobster mafia-style death squads all connected to that shit and I will be I will be scared shittless fbe rocking that boat yet you all are doing a very blessed me and I’m sending my prayers to you to have all the protection that you need but I’m just curious if you have a sense of operational security around you know the there being any kind of backlash that isn’t just you know what backlash from people who are like real extreme haters that they might want to you know that you might want to be Detroit wheel and consider a threat I’m just curious if you have like a if you guys are fucking training with weapons and your bad ass isn’t going to be able to fucking slice-and-dice anybody that steps in your path or what right you had to take that shit very seriously and no I wouldn’t say there’s any training or protection needed men we like the open about it we’re not really scared we like being in people’s faces so you want them to know standing there with bells on that’s cool you know I also it’s a notice something interesting doing a lot of webcamming myself is that there seems to be a huge underground industry of webcamming Studios all throughout Latin America because I would assume that I’m not to be classes store a racist but I would assume that just a car like the it not everybody is going to have a super-fast Wi-Fi you know in their home not everybody’s going to have that all of the equipment needed so there’s more of like a of a camping Studio industry that I see where it looks like there’s groups of friends and couples you know it won’t show up and and basically give the house they’re cut but then they will have their show and I’ll do the county show and they’re just more just more of a studio based business model than like a home-based business model that you have in quote-unquote more developed countries and I could be totally projecting I could be totally wrong Lion Inn in misinformed and in presumptions about that but if that is the case where that makes me very interested to explore and discover is like what I witnessed on these webcamming sites is literally these collectives and teams there is like one called the best friends team or something and I think they were competing against each other for the most tips in a session whatever witnessing this new team sport of young people expressing themselves sexually in figuring out the most beautiful and elegant yogic configurations of mutual pleasure and orgies and just watching them add more logs for the fire and is a we haven’t seen this on Earth for thousands of years and it’s all coming out because of the financial incentive of webcamming where people who are rich basically and developed country term so-called are able to shower money onto the impoverished young people and hopefully not minors that’s you know knock on wood that they’re doing appropriate age verification but is it but what’s happening is that there’s a financial incentive to break every fucking Christian taboo of homosexuality and I’m watching beautiful friends doing all kinds of freaky by sexual stuff with no shame whatsoever and they’re just laughing and smiling and carrying on like you’ve never seen anybody and four Americans are on antidepressants it’s because they’re not they’re not having team sport webcamming sessions with all the male and female and trans friends like these blessed souls in South America near you’re not wrong you’re actually very very correct somebody puts their house up basically and they have a good internet connection and computer Hino capable of me know doing the camping and dumb they they kind of just like ask around for like models and couples and they come over and they do their thing for a few hours and the next couple comes in and I’m letting something that happens a lot here in South America Peru is kind of a conservative country although it’s some getting a lot more open lately but I noticed the profiles from Colombia Argentina and Brazil but a lot of those are actually Venezuelans and I’m sure you’ve heard about the political problems and oppression there right now so a lot of them are coming from Venezuela and masking their eye peas and make it look like they’re from his other countries that helps a lot but you’re totally correct about them the house internet sharing with friends I would love to make a good net fix the Netflix documentary about this phenomenon cuz I was on that I will be on camming and I would just be in order to keep myself aroused you know I would just be like thumbing through other people camping at the same time and sometimes you even be looking at each other at the same time from across the world like like working working yourself into a frenzy just like looking in the first night I just I’m on there like they’re with their on my stream and I’m on there seem like we’re actually fucking like don’t even know but we’re like beating up to each other. Play

Christina Pratt picIn this episode I’m joined again by one of my most revered shamanic practitioner Christina Pratt, this time for a discussion about the effects of social media and other mobile apps on the development of the psyche and soul. She shares a wealth of insights into the multi-dimensionality of the issues and provides guiding lights of hope for how we can be in right relationship with our techno toys and tools.

We both share a sense of deep appreciation for the ancient technology that is the natural human imagination stimulated by nature, direct contact with the spirit world, and the experience of spoken story.

Com and our journey together will begin hello dear beloved welcome to Township hunt podcast episode 191 I’m being joined Again by Christina Pratt who is one of my greatest most respected heroes in the shamanic community and a very prolific author and educator and practitioner and has training programs and and lots of amazing things that that I hope to Avail myself with some point in the future for now I’m just a big fan of her podcasts and MC bless this podcast back on episode number 125 but I was called demystifying the mechanisms of shamanic healing and it was a great intro to her personal background and her work and we got into some really core foundational Concepts within shamanic healing and I feel like that’s a really one of my favorite episodes of please do go back and listen to that for reference to Cristina’s work in more detail and to give a bit of a context for why we’re speaking again now a really it the inclination I had to reach out to her again to do another podcast it came within a couple of days of when I pretty much deleted all of the social social media applications from my phone and could give myself a real juxtaposition of how rigged up my nervous system had become an is addictive dopamine cycles of refreshing thing clicking on things and trying to keep up with the Joneses and on social media and how just absolutely perverse it felt and how Aunt it’s antithetical to my my values my deeper core values is like from deep ecology and Ann turkel primitivism in Neo luddism and things that were a lot easier to attach to as as political ideologies before everybody sort of got pushed and sucked into this this hyper cyber eyes the Internet connected world that over the last 20 it’s just sort of been this creeping phenomenon and so with his breath of fresh air I said all I got it I’ve got to ask Christina Christina to come on and talk about what a shamanic perspective from her perspective would be really more of a multidimensional perspective on what’s happening to our souls and what’s happening to the fragmentation of ourselves as we get sucked into these networks and then they betray us and all of the sort of issues that are coming up around humans relating human sexuality human self-esteem and answer character building and all these things I’m sure I just knew she would have a lot to say about it and so I’m excited to to have you back Christina and thank you for joining us again and if you would please give us one of your beautiful kind of incantation introductions help us get censored in the moment so we can look straight to look at these these issues from a good place alright alright engine tations alrighty then take a nice deep breaths and bring your awareness into your mind and another nice deep breath and sink your awareness into your heart and another nice deep breath and exhale and sync your awareness down into your belly and from your belly imagine your ability to reach down deeply into the center of the earth as if you were a lotus flower floating upon upon your little lily pad with your stem reaching down into the center of the earth and connecting deeply into the Earth and drawing up nourishment and Rejuvenation from the Earth and then without rising up and out of your head let’s just stay here in our bodies and let your awareness rise up that stand into the leaf of a lily and into the flowers of this Lily and as as the Lily that you are just opens here radiant and resplendent in your your simple beautiful blossoming Beauty allow the Rays of the Sun or perhaps you prefer the Rays of the Moon perhaps Starlight let this energy come down and touch your pedals and your lily pad and let yourself be open and receiving of the radiant energy from above and then just allow yourself as these above energies bra in the blessing and protection and the below energy straw up your nourishment and Rejuvenation that these energies kind of mix and merge there in that flower let that flower be present in your own belly I’m with another nice deep breath just have a sense of reaching out to the energies around us that we are here in a world that is alive with Spirits many many different kinds of spirit energies or life-force energy has many different frequencies however you want to think about it and just let yourself be present in this world relationship to other things and yet aware of where you end and these other things begin let that radiant Lily that you are have it space and be sure that you feel strong in yourself to take that space to show up to be here to take space be present in your life and to come into an even closer knowing of why you’re here what has value and meaning in your life and make sure that you lived this day in a way that serves those things that have purpose and meaning and value to your own thank you so much for that that was a beautiful a beautiful Journey I’ve been in the journey Space 2 degree now thank you for taking us there and I guess I’d like to ask there’s a couple of a couple of aspects one would be your personal thoughts and musings on just the evolution of communications technology throughout your life experience and acceleration and just your your lens on on that on that process and then and then we can talk about hopefully what in your practice working with people what you’re seeing is sort of the the case studies of people who are struggling with the the rapid acceleration of these Technologies and I’m curious like what’s showing up on your caseload so to speak and your classes whether it’s your clients are your students what you’re observing within the next Generation as as younger people are really being formed and shaped by the stick by the technologies that we can talk about how does that sound podcast and the way in which listeners who took it seriously many of them because I guess they felt they needed to that was that lonely person on the you know oil rigs in Alaska are some sort of cracking place or somewhere where they’re really frustrated with the situation that they’re in and they feel alone there in it being able to reach out to podcasts like yours like mine and to receive some sort of Lifeline that could keep their soul alive in these sometimes remote I’m sometimes not necessarily remote but some of Solace places that people can find themselves few days and people took some of these shows and frankly some of them did more with a sequence of podcast and some of my students doing my for your truck really interesting letters from different people I won’t go into all the details with the point of all of that was they taught me that we can use the technology in a good way and then when we do that it’s it can be a Lifeline to people and so that’s really inspired me to be willing to explore and not just say this is ridiculous why are we bothering would be really easy for me to say so so that’s the first Pieces Just Two recognizing that technology isn’t a replacement for what we don’t have it extends what we do have that’s how I tend to think about it so the podcast for example extend my reach as a teacher to to speak to people but also even Define people to resonate as student to that piece of information that’s shared in that podcast is that the same as studying with me for four years of course not but doesn’t mean it’s not a thing in its own right and so so the podcast allows that extension of the teaching eye because of the podcast and the audience that created I I took a step into teaching some of the things that I teach in online classes and online classes allow me to teach incrementally in a more natural whey versus always sees intensive download experiences when you come for a weekend or week and do everything all at once and still allows for a more organic step by step learning experience and so there’s even some advantages from the online learning and so these are just two examples of using the technology that is present and in a sense if I use the teaching example I didn’t really start doing it until the technology evolve to making it easy for us to offered live so that there could be alive components cuz that’s the piece that’s always what we already are it can be a great value where we use it to create something we aren’t or to spill avoid in our lives or to create something that we don’t already have we enter into a more addictive or codependent relationship with the technology or simply using the technology amplifier false self which we do a good enough job on our own we don’t need amplifier problem so so a lot of it then boils down to what is our relationship with technology and how are we using it and are we educating ourselves around the technology itself so so that to me is kind of the key place of being in right relationship with it now if we take that it just a step further make a circle back if you want to but a step further is recognizing that in Shamanism we actively engaged in in making the our relationships with everything around us real mean Shamanism is based in animism everything around is alive with its own kind of life force and that the way for us to be in the world respectfully is to is to honor and recognize those other life forces and do our best to be in relationship with them and there’s a series of podcast with Kelly Harrell is another amazing practitioner in North Carolina and shamanic practitioner and she and I have been talking about the influence masses of humanity can have on larger spirits so we’re particularly talking about spirits of the culture and of the land and of different places in this but the the gist of those conversations was the realization that our life isn’t sort of the way it’s presented through core Shamanism like the spirit world is this fixed thing and we can go visit there and basically no matter how we trash around we won’t break anything but what Kelly and I were saying is that that’s not what we’re experiencing and exploring in these toxins that that’s not really real that we are in relationship with the invisible world and that over time it is possible for us unintentionally or intentionally to begin to influence it in other words we can play very heavily on an energy in our environment to the degree that that energy in our environment eventually morphs or adjust in some way to to respond to our sort of giving it a responsibility that it isn’t supposed to have in so my point in bringing that up because it really speaks to how Humanity in its worst manifestations affects the world around us even those energies we would go to to seek help to get out of our worst manifestations you know so that should put a raise people’s red flag and there are there awareness of we don’t really have the luxury to be as messed up as we want to be for as long as we want to be taking as many lifetimes as we want to learn how to be a good human we really need to get with the program so that’s my little subjects there but the point of technology is what I what I realized after these calls with Kelly and I are the podcast with Charlie I thought oh wait a minute Christina you are in relationship with the spirit of technology in a bigger and bigger way in your life and in your work as weird as that is given that all of your work is Shamanism you need to get right with your in your relationship with the spirit of Technology and as I was getting ready to do the first online class I really saw clearly up our object for the spirit of technology and each of my classes We Begin by acknowledging the spirit of technology and asking it to support us but also asking it to grow up with us asking it to come it’s a young or our current technology that you and I are specifically talking about technology like a hammer or a Wheel Technologies electronic mostly computer-based internet-based Technologies is a relatively new and so they’re kind of Adolescent and they don’t really know if you think about it as a spirit it doesn’t really know who it is yet and that if we could come to it intentionally and with you know real Spears love and our heart and help to to grow it up as we might grow up a adolescent child with incredible power and really ask the spirit of technology to work with us to find out how it takes its place in the web of life as something that supports the web of life now we are not very good at that either right we’re kind of a pain in the existence of the web of life right now on the planet and it pretty big way and so in a sense we both need to grow up humanity and Technology need to grow up to understand how to how to take their rightful place in that Web of Life in a way that supports all life and I think technology could do that you’re back to me puts me in this really hopeful place of creativity and possibility and I think well how can I be involved in doing that and it in it puts me in a much better relationship with technology than a place I can get into very easily which is wanting to throw it across the room that’s not a very healthy mature relationship you want to throw things he is really recognizing that we aren’t just like guns right we are not talking about the thing itself being the problem but what we are doing with it the relationship that we are in with it is it another platform for us to express our power irresponsibly or is it an opportunity for me to express my power with responsibility alright well thank you so much for that discourse in I tend to agree and I really like that you were bringing the word Spirit to it a lot of people who would consider that to be or to new age or something would would cringe at the notion of or even people who are within the more sort of stereotypically spiritual and if things would say all know Tech is so lifeless and Solace and but really it’s a it’s an expression of human creativity so it’s almost like that that sort of semantic game of is anything unnatural because it came from nature kind of a thing so so I do from a domestic perspective I appreciate we can’t I mean it would be I think pretty foolish to deny that there are spiritual energies and intelligences around all of our inventions and if it’s not just the embodiment for the imbuing of that person’s intention into something that is to put his that is not no longer biological or if it’s kind of also something you’re saying about I mean what I’m seeing just thinking about it is that we’re creating all of our actions thoughts dreams inventions Technologies they’re creating some sort of dynamic relationship with the Unseen World and they’re the living astral plane and so we may be creating these certainly if these tickets if some of these social media apps are causing extreme unprecedented levels of teen suicide than there are entities that are crowding around these opportunities to hack and mess with and opportunistically take advantage of these new reached astral bodies if you will I don’t know if that’s so if you want to go in that direction but I think it would be great to talk more about this Dynamic interplay that you’re touching on between how we it’s not just like this that we are totally separate from the other side or the Ethereal plane but they’re actually were in a dynamic with them and we may be altering them and pull them anyway so those are my words but I love to hear what you have to say that continue that thread interesting when people in their spiritual lives in basically commit the same errors that they would accuse you know academics are politicians of making but because it’s in the service of their spirituality somehow it’s not a problem that I don’t have spirit I don’t I don’t know there was any human being who does know like that so interesting ly what is it called human-centric which always gives us in trouble I think there’s a really funny moment in a podcast with David Franklin Farkas on that he has a guest and he’s talking about working with space he does a lot of work with space and space clearing and he was talking about really just how he discovered that everything has spirit and he cuz he was of the same mind that certain things didn’t but he really discovered as he did works at that was really kind of a foolish and naive perspective and she has this really funny thing about talking to the spirit of a microwave oven because he’s responding about the qualities of that Spirit you go yeah that’s a microwave that’s not a puppy you know anyway so my point about all of this is that we really need to be aware of the nature of our relationships with things so first for example to understand that designers of apps for our phones that. The operating principle is you want to design an app that is the first thing a person does when they wake up and the last thing they do when they go to bed and it feels you know the time in between okay that’s like creating a designer drug and I don’t mean a drug for shamanic you know spiritual experience I mean a drug to get people hooked so you make money and so part the thing about using these things is we need to be educated intelligent consumers me to have healthy boundaries as we need to have with all other advertising me in and the problem with being a kid using these things is they’re not there yet and so we as the adults need to figure out how are we managing that role in the lives of our children which I already just now I’m rolling my eyes because there’s a whole lot about our role as adults that we’re not managing in the lives of our children are not even supervised anymore University doing a training and University students from all over the world it was really exciting environment to be in and out at mealtime the kids tended to sit with their friends from their own country and whatever training programme Rihanna whatever and was very interesting to see the difference culturally with these kids that were mostly like High school-age kids and their phones are certain cultures no funds on the table everybody’s talking and laughing and you know just this side of a food fight and you know enjoying each other and then other cultures wherever it was absolutely everybody is on their phone just eating the mindlessly eating and looking at what’s on your phone I was very culturally specific sad but also really interesting to realize that there are places in the world that are way healthier than we are 17 different kinds of coffee you can have in the morning but they don’t have them are just not addicted to them cuz they have different cultural standards but yeah you you’re absolutely right in that you know our kids do learn to do what we do not what we say I am so it’s really hard to enforce some sort of boundaries around your phone use when you’re on your phone at dinner too turn in restaurant all the time soon as the people who would say that I guess it’s not it’s not you don’t have to be Ted Kaczynski to have a critique of of these things that that everyone can witness and the articles in mainstream obviously magazines and what not and I always just leading up to this conversation I was thinking about how trying to just take myself mentally in a time machine back before there were back before people had this before cell phones are ubiquitous and and I was fully grown at adult before cell phones even the so-called dumb phones where you could barely text message even before that and it was just knew you would someone was home or they weren’t home and so that would determine your plans for the night or if you’re going to do a delivery you’re going to use a Thomas Brothers guide to figure out what you’re going in life was a lot slower and and into some degree I would say more more pleasant and more interconnected and if you wanted to have a good time you had to kind of earn it and work for it and go out and and be forced to go out forced to go find places where people are gathering and sewed I have Nostalgia for that in my lifetime and it’s I guess it’s easy for me to still remember that and have some context on this but even now it says the so-called Millennials or are just the internet natives they say I guess the people who are born into Google and the Google ization of I guess you could call whatever you want but but I feel like it’s it’s almost past say now or it’s cliche to have a to lament maybe not the loss of the golden age before this but certainly lament just the all of the all of the road the increasing in an in an accident on my stuff there’s just so many indicators that are undeniable cisno long is no longer really this contentious debate where you need you know you need to have some extreme radicalism to challenge this stuff but what I what I feel like is missing from from this dialogue is what you would bring as a more shamanic perspective is to what what’s happening if you were to do the cross section of the astral body and the soul and to sort of the United States early to to scare people straight or to shock them although This Bitter from a small degree of a few just a couple few weeks now it’s saying what will this is I feel very violated by my own of all people I should have been I should have known better not to have gotten so sucked into this dysmorphia and his character Distortion of keeping up with the Joneses at a pace that’s just impossible to and you just start to merge with this this device and then you were living in this augmented reality of ranking and scoring and everything is a leaderboard and and so anyway you’re taking a step back from that and I’m and I have to think about how did I know better and what should I know about her and how am I going to not fall into that trap again and so I think about how K now that I have this moment of Sanity I want to sort of build in those healthier adaptive strategies and have more of a sensitivity to what it feels like when you’re being manipulated by your own your own neurochemistry right and that’s just on the the sort of physical print out playing but it but you would want to talk more about Soul loss and what your conception of how the soul Parts get caught up in our cycle dramas in their sexual dramas in in our personality ego structures and just what what you would see from that lends as his what’s happening in America in transition a bit to to what you’re what you’re experiencing if you have to a people away from their their phones when you’re trying to teach them in a class or if you have people coming to you for for care and counseling and and healing who are in mashed and some in this sort of digital Fabric and how it’s affecting their at them at the soul level I think that are important relative what you’re asking the the simpler one in a sense would be you know how do I manage that technology with my students because I do I can think of two students right now absolutely speed Wizards taking their notes on their phone when I can barely read my phone at my age and and in really complex and wonderful ways and that supports their process and so part of that piece is okay here are students to understand they need to not be connected to the internet while they’re doing this but they can certainly use this as a means by which they’re going to take their notes and track what’s going on and that I have to be as a teacher not annoyed by that but they also have to not annoy me by having it make sounds having finding seen that they’re not really listening to me they’re really checking their Facebook page that was that person wouldn’t get a second chance for me to stop like if you were in my class checking your Facebook page instead of paying attention when people write you need to leave cuz you’re not remotely mature enough to be that you can’t not check your Facebook page for 4 hours some people just had a heart attack just so you know if water is the people who just heard that and when they thought they imagined for hours without checking Facebook back to your heart of I think the piece that you’re the missing here is people that have no boundaries with this tool none whatsoever and so this is why this matters mean we can go into it from that way but that’s kind of a long walk let’s take a short pass the short path is this we need to put ourselves in the context of our purpose of our souls reason for being here and to do things in our life that allow us to express our actual reason for being here is what fills our life with meaning and purpose so there is nothing else not on your phone not on Facebook not there is no other substitute not drugs not not relationships not anything that will substitute you bringing yourself into context with your Soul’s purpose and so to the extent that technology just becomes one other way you’re avoiding doing that or Worse creating a false idea that you are your only making the Contemporary issue worse because this is already a huge contemporary issue for people to be able to track who they are and why they’re here now part of that is because they come to their young adults were already in a state of Soul loss and for many many people there so lost does have a certain relationship with their why they’re their purpose and why they’re here so so to been moved from a place that’s already estate of so lost into these false versions of connection of intimacy of intimacy with yourself of trying to find your soul purpose out there by clicking on the surveys and things on the internet all of that is just an ongoing sofa tray and so part of understanding the damage that is being done by the technology is not anything new in the sense that it’s just one more profoundly addictive and distracting way the Contemporary people avoid the personal work required to come to right relationship with their soul and then to maintain that right relationship as a guide in what they choose to do with their lives and their many Millennials who would go look lady I am working three jobs just to try to pay a ridiculously high rent and my phone bill and pay for my marijuana and you know he’s other things that are considered necessary for contemporary life like well I understand that that doesn’t change the fact that you are a soul who chose to inkarnate at this time so these are the challenges that you are choosing to have to deal with just as I chose that is a mile and the fact that the world kind of sucks is not an excuse to not deal with the ways the world sucks and the way that gives you a possibility to either be diverted from your soul purpose or you use the world around you as the raw material to get to your soul purpose and so and so’s purpose isn’t about follow your bliss and have a happy life Soul Purpose is a really challenging way of life that is cultivated but the reason to bother is that it does have deeply Soul satisfying meaning and purpose it makes it gives us a life in which we feel still that’s a human being and we believe that we’ve matter and that’s really what we want and that’s a really challenging thing to create in our Contemporary American world at this time because the culture around you is not encouraging that you do that and even many of the spiritual practices that you would think would be encouraging you to do that or actually encouraging you to follow their rules and to bypass that deep work that would bring you to your own personal uniqueness and unique genius and maybe not be so willing to follow along so the problem with the aspect of Technology you’re talking about is that it’s a light out of context you’re not in contacts with your own soul purpose I would never post anything about as deeply intimate as my sole purpose work on any of the social media platforms is totally inappropriate nobody would so it’s not helping me so so think about it like Google is kind of a wonderful thing it’s wonderful to be able to get pieces of information when you need them as long as it’s accurate which is another issue okay but that information is completely out of context and into the meaning of information changes relative to its context so the meaning of you as a person in the world changes relative to your contacts in your proximity to your Soul’s purpose and so again these activities any addiction drives us away from our purpose because we’re repeating that thing that were addicted to instead of getting at the uniqueness and the innovation of our actual Soul Purpose and so this the piece of the technology that you’re talking about right now create this false idea and for those people that are young and naive and don’t have parents actually modeling something different they don’t even necessarily know it’s a false idea that’s Rudy’s online groups and online activities in all of this stuff that there’s somehow going to create a true sense of the things I have meaning and value to their heart and my experience is that the things that have meaning and value to my heart are not found outside of that context of me as an embodied human in my heart I need to be in the world I need to be connected to people need to be connected to the energies around me and Technology as one of those energies but it can’t take over and spill all of my my porch if you will for connection to other things if it it can’t it can’t be my sole interface with other things unless we’re talking about someone who has some sort of challenge in their life so that technology is literally the only connection to other things right but that’s all she does let some people who would otherwise not be able to connect to connect but really what we’re talking about is people that are addicted to their technology that are not in a relationship with technology and so what is doing then is taking people that are already arriving in their young adult life in a state of Soul Los usually estate of really poor energy body hygiene and worse than that not very clear idea about what is actually going on here energetically as a person in the world and is sold as a lot of huge misinformation and all of that Googling around and traipsing about the internet there’s a lot of really bad as in really inaccurate information and so people are arriving at that place with with scads of bad information around them inaccurate information around them with no skills no ability to discern and then engaging in these platforms that take them even further from their Center and further from the truth and so it’s certainly not helping but it’s also taking that passion that we have in our twenties to find our purpose and do what we have what has real meaning to our heart it burns that passion out so it’s not so much that I see people necessarily more fragmented because of it it’s more that I see people’s fire to do anything about it being frazzled and burned out that I see their focus dispersed that I see there Lerner that’s trying to learn and understand what’s really going on here completely distorted with Vault ideas and really toxic understanding of what it is to be here as a spirit in the world of sleep kind of simple easy to do but simple that’s more my sense is that that via the information we get from these platforms and our engagement in these platforms our own energy structure and our desire and our heartfelt Focus all of these inner qualities that in the past would just in the past what would happen if someone would just go I keep falling into this pattern let me see the heater that can help me deal with this find Charmin get Soul retrieval get Soul Park Bark in a great stop falling into the pattern closer to Soul Purpose mean it was a pretty simple you know here in the physical world action and now people get on really convoluted Pathways before they make it to my door and they’ve done so much greater damage to themselves following those Pathways energetically I mean what I want to make steering is not so much more so long is because there’s already a ton of so lost when I’m experiencing is people who are creating mental illness that they don’t actually have that’s more what I see I’m energetic and mental mental emotional going from a place of mental and emotional discomfort which is pretty typical for someone who’s 18 19 20 years old in America to a place of where they’ve actually gone through mental and wellness mental emotional and wellness into a state of mental illness that they’re now getting Pharmaceuticals for Why does adding a whole nother level of distraction from Center and I’m not carte blanche saying Pharmaceuticals are bad when I’m talking about is someone who’s created the state of mental illness simply through their use of technology that they don’t really have and so now they’re getting these really strong chemicals into their body and into their brain really for no reason because they aren’t actually the kind of person who has a biochemical reason for those right you know this is something just came up for me as you’re talking about this really this all kids close to home in a lot of ways and I’m trying to think about how this conversation with people who are growing up now in this Ambience of internet-connected devices in Google information and all of the all these platforms were talking about and someone said not too long ago, where I heard this but it was it was kind of like every generation is going to have this resistance by the old curmudgeons you know who say back in my day and I was like this it was harder you had to work harder to do XYZ and now it’s easier because it Technologies to your spoiled and then there’s this sort of bitterness going both ways about you don’t you’re imposing these outdated values on me and you don’t get it and then so something that was kind of a record point of reconciliation between the generations that I heard recently was just this notion of where ya at people’s parents said the same thing about comic books when comic books were distracting us from their homework and they’re so perfect that whatever it was and it makes me even think about will the the juxtaposition between literacy and the printing press and literacy and how that would allow them to think about the whole some good old days of women read romance novels and boys stereotypically gendered Etc reading comic books and and the sort of what I would like to say well with a healthier template would be a slower data stream coming through Reading text where you would do no just have you wouldn’t have 50 books and magazines that you were you were relentlessly swapping to actually make an analogy you would have to for the amount of data streams you would have to be having a million TV channels and a hundred bucks a hundred magazines and a bunch of conference calls and things that you were just tapping through that was that was a novice a possible in my area of growing up and and there was just a more protected. Of pre-internet books and magazines and and social events that you would physically have to go out to and you could only do that maybe once once a couple times a week and so you know I’m just looking at this sort of what what are the essential patterns that that kind of are recursive throughout time and have a sort of cyclical pattern going on and in something that that hit me just now as a member there was a point where I remember clearly where I was at a birthday gift was someone took me out to the Wilderness on a hike of a mountain and I was so glued to video games at that time even their primitive state what we would consider very primitive now it was in they say this about pornography to they say that the therapist are saying that it’s a quote supra-normal or supernormal experience that you set a standard to and then being intimate with a real life human being doesn’t cut it for you because you’re you’re nervous system is so jacked up on these these completely artificially induced levels of chemistry that you couldn’t experience otherwise known as being generated by this computer interface so you know for me I remember how disappointed I was when I was going to be almost dragged out into nature to go on a hike and how absolutely DeLand dead and boring and even lifeless that experience was and how how betrayed I felt that that I would have to have section non-adventurous in an exciting experience and and it was all because I would just have rather have been sitting there playing a video game when I was getting spiked with all these I’m killing someone I’m being killed I’m maker not making some sort of digital gold value and I’m all of these buttons of teen pushed and I’m just at a rate that was that was unprecedented and so this virtual I guess it’s the virtualization of of the things that motivate our nervous system pleasure and seeking pleasure avoiding pain and whatnot and and another plastic came to me was just this this idea of whenever I whenever I’ve looked at the Tabloid covers of you know the Tabloid news stands in the aisles at the supermarket throughout my entire life I just felt this toxic losing Force this presents won’t talk about a spirit of something and I just could feel it and it was never and it was obviously Bogus Basin the fake block Ness monster stuff and then all of the drama and it was so over-the-top hype that it was easy to resist that I can never felt compelled to his to get sucked into that vortex but now that I see you it’s happened really is that everybody has made this like a tabloid ization of every individual and there’s an endless market for it and just this monstrosity it’s feeding on everybody the same impulse that you would have had to open up that tabloid is now you aren’t you have become the Tabloid and you want the more attention you get onto your digital tabloid Persona online and all these different platforms there more validation you’re getting and it’s just as it’s just Nick seems to be like you said about the designer drugs are just manipulating these low-hanging fruit aspects of our lower self that was more of just a rant you know something to put on a fit if you have I don’t wait around here and there well actually I want you to go back to the first part of that that you said about the idea that it’s cyclical and every generation thinks you know the younger generation looks ridiculous in their passion or whatever like that I mean obviously at the same time there is science behind how visual images and training ourselves through Visual images is actually affecting our minds that there’s so where the difference between the generations is this meat to this programming the brain to the repetition of visual images and we start talking about something different entirely and it’s not even just a different kind of fruit it’s like the difference between fruit and a tank and so they’re there is a study and I can’t pull out the actual specifics about where someone could go Google it right now maybe someone could go find it and tell me they found it so I can do that but basically in the study they were looking at the kill rate in World War II versus the kill rate of Vietnam and they found that in World War II that the honest truth was that most soldiers would rather take someone prisoner than kill them and so the kill rate was very low like 20% or something and that wasn’t acceptable for Vietnam they wanted to figure out how to train soldiers to go for a higher kill rate and what they found were was training them through a visual interface which is of course the technology that preceded video games and so basically when people are playing you know violent video games that are teaching them to not to override their natural instinct to not show people or things will never have I ever the game is that you’re basically being train your natural human instinct is being trained out of you to be a better killer and to not hesitate and that actually they change the kill rate for family through that training and Vietnam just something like 70% or 80% in the numbers which is frightening and at the same time you also had guys that went to Vietnam that I said look I don’t care what you do I don’t care about a dishonorable discharge get me out of this situation and send me back home so part of it is this really understanding that there was a conscious there were many conscious choices made that created a change between in a world war kind of way of going about live and Vietnam and our lives since Vietnam and learnt so the same thing is true then operating with porn and how has you were saying it’s training is it’s this visual training that is different from just looking at still pictures the different engagement in our brain it affects our brain differently and and partly another version of this another aspect of study around this is with children who are placed in front of videos instead of red tube instead of being read to sorry he’s my grammar here and that when a child is listening to a story they’re developing the part of their brain that imagines and visualize is in creates the the picture then go with the story that the person is reading but they find that children that are raised by being given pictures so raised on video so the end screen so the screens are being given to that pictures are being given to them they don’t have to develop their imagination okay so from a shamanic perspective this is going to be our downfall perhaps it already is being our downfall because our relationship with the invisible World operates through our brain’s capacity to access its imagination and then how did the spirit world essentially use the imagination to tell us things just the same way we all do when we dream at night and that imaginary dream world is telling us things sometimes things are not really very useful but sometimes but the point is from a shamanic perspective my ability to have a reliable relationship with spirit is driven entirely by my ability to open up my imaginary sense as much as usual but to open up my sensory body to an imaginary experience which then has meaning when it’s interpreted accurately that gives that’s how I gained guidance in my life is how I find a full part of how I know what to do in my own life it’s how I need a program that is going to be able to initiate teenage kids and fix that problem in our culture all of that is created because I have this ability to work in this whole creative relationship with spirit that is absolutely dependent on the part of my brain that imagines show to choose to not develop that part of your brain not develop that part of your children’s brain to allow it to be fed images and not ever develop the capacity to imagine means when that child is a young adult and is trying to imagine a better future they can’t do it they literally can’t do it because they haven’t developed the part of the brain that can imagine anything that they haven’t seen said to them so that aspect the visual aspect of the technology is really problematic and it’s why you get more likes when you post a picture with your posts because we gravitate to these pictures but they’re their eye candy and two even in working in this is how we spell the Visionary state in Shamanism it’s not purely visual the eyes are very easy to trip also and so it’s really about bringing your full Century body into these experiences but if I’ve been having images fed to me my whole sensory body can just be lazy if the soundtrack and the everything is just coming at me the images soundtrack all that I’m I’m not engage my sensory body isn’t engaged my ability to imagine a better future isn’t engaged so all of these qualities that are absolutely essential to living a fulfilling spiritual life are being dead are the visual piece and so in that sense of all it’s just like comic books well not really it isn’t it’s actually highly problematic and so one of the most important things for parents and many of 2013 old people our parents is that you understand this and you make different choices raising your kids the mermaid with you and that you understand that there is a serious effect delete deleterious to having children’s brains raised by video well I just had a a rash of chills when you got to that that point and I think that is probably be beyond the desired effect of what I was looking to create with the designer drug of this podcast switch with two to really address in and treat these issues but that study that you brought in with with the I mean the exit I should say I’m like I’m going to make a note to include this link in the show notes one of the most endearing films of my childhood was the I think we just called toys with Robin Williams and LL Cool J so worried I want to respect your time we’re we covered a lot here and I thank you so much again for for delivering more than I even expected and I think that was the the most potent way to to kind of wine this down with some some real practical advice about about monitoring what we all take in visually I guess I want to ask you now if with whatever time you have left to talk a bit about what you might see as some strategies for I mean lyrics I would say it’s just a simple as well just go out in nature but I was maybe 8 9 10 years old when that didn’t work for me and that was way before the level of sophistication with stick with this with these games and mass jol would go out and play in the woods and I still would do it for its and what not but but it was losing its appeal and so it’s not as simple as you’re saying turn your phone off and go to a yoga retreat or something there’s going to have to be other other steps taken and and you’re very very pragmatic I don’t know I wouldn’t say you’re really kind of you’re grounded you’re not to move about your precious to these things I’m just wondering if you if you have thought about it or if you’re working on something maybe you will develop some sort of some techno fast tree protocol or something but today just curious if you want to end on that some things that are that may help us get out of this this digital quicksand but I offer people would I consider the fundamental step out of that quicksand in an online class that I believe is absolutely essential if people are going to make the shift and be able to come into kind of a into a responsible it kind of relationship with technology that is response all that is powerful but is responsible and I people have to get their however they’re going to get there but I think the idea of just not engaging with it that feast-or-famine has its problem because they were not growing up the spirit of Technology right and while we’re over here trying to not engage with it it’s taking over the world right it was people teaching it to not grow up so I think that part of it is to figure out who do you want to be engaging with technology where where are your boundaries and end-to-end to make some clear decisions on uphold those decisions but mostly I really want to encourage people especially people that are in this I can’t remember what you said was an interesting name of the generation of being raised on the internet but anyway what I really want to encourage people to do is to understand that you read about joy and satisfaction in becoming subversive become a subversive who is Unser do so and if you can do that in your life to become subversive and recognize that you are being completely seduced into being a consumer that’s all that’s going on and that’s so expensive you should be horribly offended by that and want to subvert that system so I really encourage you all this find that inner trickster irrevocably person who wants to subvert A system that thinks so little of you and your unique genius but it just wants to turn you into a shopper it just wants you to consume he wants you to buy the next phone the next app it just sees you as a consumer and be offended by that to become subversive and in that to become unsecured small which means you can engage with whatever you choose to engage with within the boundaries that you set and that relationship of healthy relationships with it whether it’s sex or drugs or technology or whatever and and really draw what is good and true and beautiful and things out of them and not get lost in the swamp and so that would be my my thing as y’all are young you know become beings and change the world it needs to be changed so that’s what I would say Bravo of all that sounds almost tearing up hearing those words didn’t really that’s that’s why I got into punk rock and that’s why I’m still out there trying to to rock the boat however he can and that why we’re having this conversation and yeah this the spirit of wildness will will live on in and again thank you for for just balancing this as well nnn we’re not going to have an effect on the trajectory of this of this technology Technologies if we withdraw and Retreat and lamented in in the in a Shack in the woods yeah we will keep doing our best here will thank you Christina so Come she is a Southern California sex educator Hatha Yoga instructor ethical luxurious natural skincare and beauty products entrepreneur she also does modeling and performance are and she reached out to me as a podcast listener and fan of the show I’m to connect and talk about sex in mindfulness and she’s going to be doing a presentation at the upcoming positive sexuality conference which I believe the registration is closed so may not be able to get in for that but hopefully I don’t know if you’ll be getting a recording of that or just just in general a good plug to connect with the the center for positive sexuality the episode previously that Alexandria connected to from the podcast was the one I did with Emily Pryor where we talked all about that hurt past and the history of the the center for positive sexuality which is a great resource and something you should definitely connect with so yeah with all that said I just like to get it started with Alexandria you sharing your your personal background and how you have become ethical luxurious proprietress of so many wonderful things in the world oh my goodness thank you so much for having me on your show first of all then I have been listening intently for about a year and a half maybe two years and this has been a great guide to my journey in my Awakening especially as it relates to sex in mindfulness and I a little bit about me I grew up on the edge of a very health minded yet religious town and I had to make my own pass and figure my own way out when it comes to relating to myself in relationships and sex and we never had any sex ed class in sexual relationships were something that we’re seeing that as deviant so that he didn’t fit with my mindset and it was pretty hush-hush but I’m glad to have had a partner who is offsets a metal frame and so we were able to explore it safely and lovingly which one another and as I grew up and matured and sound different ways of relating to others on a deeper level meditation yoga became primary practices in my life and with that I was able to you start diving into Tantra and bringing meditation into the bedroom and a way of baby centering and focusing with my lover is sad that has allowed me to experience sex in a way that is transformative an incredibly healing and beautiful container of self-discovery and meeting a higher self and allowing and sharing this with the person or the persons who are are held in that beautiful container of intimacy has the background as far as this texted mindfulness-based my ethical vegan body products it’s a bit different where I grew up dealing with a lot of allergies and skin issues I had pretty bad acne throughout high school and my first few years of college that Led Tech old hatred unfortunately and feeling myself as less than and it was really frustrating because I wouldn’t know what these flare-ups what these bumps what these rashes were coming from and as I became more in tune with myself in my center and focusing on my eating practices and being a bit more cleaner and more aware of what I was putting into my body orally I noticed that there are certain things that would trigger my allergies and from they’re growing up as a pescatarian and I realized this was one of my triggers and I cut out of my diet and wheat was another trigger as with soy and these were things that were primary parts of my diet and as I was looking at the ingredients on skin care that I was purchasing these were primary ingredients on the backs of these natural products not so much fish oil base emulsifiers and its present in a lot of stuff and a lot of things that I would find at the grocery store so I set out to make my own yummy low ingredient allergen-free body product so that I could take charge of my house and my skincare as I was doing with my diet and I love how I can get into the kitchen and create something with my hands using products that are natural from this Earth mango butter and Argan better than hemp seed butter is really delicious things that are full of wonderful antioxidants and vitamins and amino acids that will help heal and regenerate the skin and sensing it with wonderful organic acid call essential oils that are designed to take you on a journey and so I am someone who is very much attracted to things of the senses especially with sent and this became part of my practice that I would then bring into the bedroom and massager with sexual lubricant so that I Ed Sheeran with myself on a personal level but also with lovers and with friends so that we could all enjoy the process of self-care and self-love that comes from using products that are made with love with house and goodness in mind for yourself ads there are and allowing us to share that self-care practice those beautiful thank you so much Bravo and that you deserve a round of applause for that it’s always so texting when a person’s business is the journey of self healing and exploration and there’s a whole country edition Nike archetypal tradition of the Wounded healer where in order to understand whatever you are elements or issues maybe you sort of Blaze the trail to did the discovery and then you’re always from that wound or that one being like you’re saying the you know they’re conscious the way it affected your your self concept in to be able to transcend that and then leave from that place of healing very personal place that always has a much more how much deeper story to connect with four people who were enjoying the products so I appreciate that you were weaving it with the sexuality peace and and Tantra and I feel like that is the direction we need to go for people to put as much give as much personhood to their lower half of their body is to the upper half friend that know the public Parts in the private parts need to be more Eric Moore cared for with all this so that’s wonderful said you want to talk about as a sex educator what what types of offerings do you have enough in that area I would love to I want to bring two people and what I do bring to people is caring for the soul and caring for the south in the partners and being extremely communicative in line for with the individual that you’re seeing in the SEC space as well as yourself and eventually that concept of individual melts away and you become one and the one becomes this everything and to really bring that concept little by little Earth the person’s ready to just dive into it I want to share that beauty and that loves because from there we can have a higher vibration out in the world when we see that everyone’s connected everyone is this love everyone has that part of themselves that is from that the higher order and it’s also about going into the practices of kink in a mindful Safeway and being conceptual Mulberry microwave with communication and being safe in all rounds possible so I work with Planned Parenthood and I also work with the center for positive sexuality so that we can get the how fast facts out there making sure you’re getting your STI checks and being a safe and productive as possible to keep you and your community healthy and also diving into you Kingston leaves sectors of sex that we don’t necessarily talk about his friends or in in a larger sense anyway that’s outside of the internet really so I’m I’m trying to move this conversation in a way that allows people to recognize that sex is beautiful sex is natural we’re here because of sex and every day there millions of sexual encounters that were happening and even if half of those or not his love and positivity how much more Blissful would this world be I can only imagine and we’ll help you out that’s amazing so you are really in a deeply embedded in the does the infrastructure to bring this to people so again I applaud you for that it’s it’s definitely that piece of being able to get as wild as you can possibly imagine but also be anchored in the medical health aspect of sexuality is a rare thing to find a fun place you know why there’s these types of nonprofits exist to help people have safe guidelines in DUI yeah what are some of the without obviously you know disclosing anything to to confidential or private do you want to talk about some of the patterns of issues that you are helping people confront some of the things that you feel are like most in the Forefront of modern times of what people are dealing with and what feels like it needs the most care and attention these days for me when I work with women I share a lot of how do I tell my partner that I want X Y and Z and it’s you talk to them we have these conversations and we do so in a setting where everyone is able to feel her and everyone is able to have their needs met via communication and via the practice and it’s as I was going through my own sexual experiences and listen to my friends talked about their own women and I I don’t want to overgeneralize by I am a woman I identify with she her pronouns this is the perspective that I can give women have been told to be in a more submissive role and to be the ones who are the acceptors of the actions put upon us and that Austin time sitting or laying or attempting to be present with things that are painful things that are degrading things that don’t make us feel good at the end of our experience or through our experience and so what oftentimes happens is that we check out we lose touch with this part of ourselves that when conscious can illuminate so much within us that extends outside of the bedroom and so what I want to do and what I aim to do is turn people on to that Consciousness and that excitement and Zapp part of themselves that wants to be present and aware of the sexual experience and when it comes to Healing traumas that often times needs to be done solo and so we’re going to feel just your fingertips touching your clavicle or what it’s like to caress your own cheek how it feels to tug on your earlobe or touch your toes spread your toes with your fingers to the beautiful experience of self massage that doesn’t even have to do with genital contact and then once you’re comfortable with feeling and experiencing our bodies moving onto or moving in tear touching touching are genitals and really experiencing that Yoni pleasure and breast massage and feelings that are on my nipple so that we can become conscious with the sexual Awakening and that can then be brought into the sphere with partner Partners if that’s what the person wants and so that comes with knowing yourself so that you can then communicate oh honey I feel better when you touch me lighter I appreciate that you’re so enthusiastic but let’s think our breathing so that we can slow down and when we’re able to communicate our once in our needs in a loving way that shows that we like what our partners doing or maybe need to shift it so that both of us can enjoy the sexual experience can be fulfilling for all parties involved awesome well I just kind of have been on a journey as Siri speaking at they have a very very effective way of bringing people into that that a conscious State and you know something that stands out for me that you mention and we’ll gets kind of more into the the realm of classical Shamanism I guess you could say would would be that he knows very Translating that notion of checking out when you feel kind of misused or abused or that that process is what is often referred to in that shamanic you know that this course is being where the soul starts to break apart in what you’re actually losing alcohol at some people call it so lost some people call it Soul theft if the intention that is predatory on the end of somebody harming someone else in really it’s like your slices of your of your deep tissue of your soul or are being broken apart I mean there’s different metaphors for it it’s kind of amorphous because you can see it’s part of the astral plane or it’s sort of a different dimension of our being but you know what when when I hear you speak about that it it really reminds me that it’s not it’s in addition to really predatory kinds of abuse it can also just be like you’re saying very subtle forms of Disconnect where it’s kind of abrasions if not you no fractures but there’s a different degrees of wounding on the Flesh and there’s different degrees of warming on the soul so it’s so important to have that communication yeah thank you for doing that work and do you also in your practice do you also bring in yogic exercises and and what kind of two obviously tantric breathwork and meditation visualization chakras Kundalini kind of experiences has really loud me to connect with the power of the brass and the practice of life force and when we’re able to get in touch with that and not fear it but be able to really experience the belly breaths and feel like chest expand in our clavicles rise within Halen our shoulders are ribs pulling and connecting us to that deeper awareness that we can bring into all avenues of our life and when we are able to do these breathing exercises and that’s actual around with our cells are with our partner that helps us connect and experience that unity in that one that’s done that aliveness of the world in ourselves and with certain Austin as I’m certain slow as you can get into a delicious juicy practice and I have recently been doing is incorporating the Yoni egg into my practices and I also do aerial arts and so bringing this into my performance and bringing it into my personal yoga practice has been a deeper Awakening in a deeper way to get in touch with with my divine feminine in a way that I am so so grateful exist so when I can bring that to other people and show them that our sexuality are being very sacred and there are these practices that really help us connect to that design beautiful essence of our feminine and of our every Universe we can hear ourselves and she’ll each other and Heal the World I totally agree with that and yeah this is this synthesis of more clinical sexological sector of like what you’re doing and Planned Parenthood and what a lot of sex educators are doing in high schools and college settings and you know about for everything from gender studies and basic awareness of politics and language of gender and in and that Roman and then addressing Rape Crisis centers and just bringing more Consciousness to all these different car in points where people are either Contracting diseases or having unwanted but unplanned pregnancies or experiencing abuse I feel like the the future opportunity or potential would be that people like you doing what you doing what will actually sort of get through that that filter in that mesh of the western clinical mindset which is you know I’ll save kind of just as a little side note here that it’s it’s really challenging sometimes to bring the deeper spirituality peace through that framework because understandably these more clinical models they want to be cross-cultural they want to not give her any particular practice which could alienate anyone or offend anyone so it’s always got to be super you know white coat medical clipboard and you know charts on the wall but what what I think will happen is that there will eventually be chakra charts alongside the muscular and skeletal and me all the anatomy chart going to clinical office and it’s why I believe yeah it’ll be people like you were going to be able to bring more mindful in the mindfulness is probably the best way to translate without getting too mystical or we were so how does that is that I love to know if you have been able to sort of ethically hack if you will that and Bridge you know probably a friend of your word but yeah any luck with that Kylie it’s actually really exciting and I think that my education has and continues to find me for being able to flirt with a associate clinical medical and also going into the more spiritual BGC practices and More in line with the kids in the key Delaney and experiencing things and energetic mediums within our bodies and working through ceiling that way but there’s also that when they hear anything that has totally turns them off and I get it I understand so there is a way to connect with that secular standpoint and my aim in life is to continue receiving education so that I can be the highest level practitioner in all rooms that I can be and my background is in Psychology and wonderful University that I went to allowed me to do studies that were I certainly more colorful than what most have probably done there but I was able to internet of yoga studio and I did my final thesis on psychedelics and sacks Professor was not super enthused about it but she was like okay well if you can do it do it and I did it and I learned a lot and I also was able to present it and present these fabulous studies super shout out to Maps doing awesome work and present these studies to people who hadn’t heard of psychedelics outside of just drugs are bad don’t do them kids here is your brain on drugs and explain how to fry and clay static and is able to link these parts of ourselves that we might not have touch with on a daily basis I am learning in finding ways to integrate the research with experience and with people’s conversations with me and what I see out in the fossil or Elmer out in I do performance also in the club scene and so just taking it within all of these different sectors that I live and I working but bring it back to something that will allow Society to see it in a way that is valuable and has the research behind it and so I love research I love studies I love being able to show data and show that mindfulness practices when done repeatedly on a consistent basis do you have it leads to Lasting positive change and anxiety reduction and increases people’s ability to socialize and helps with all sorts of Health markers that lead to longevity and a more positive outlook on life and currently the Western American model is one that looks at symptoms that looks at Ole Miss it looks at things that are wrong and we need to heal from totally I get that but what I want to do and what I have been doing in my research is looking at what what do we do what who are the people who are most successful and happy in their relationships and who are the ones who are the most resilient who steals from unimaginable traumas to go on to do things that are able to lie to last and change not only in themselves but also in the greater world what what are those characteristics and how can this happen to that type of human potential I’m so sexy psychedelics is another way so is talk therapy in for some medication is necessary and it’s not necessarily the route that I don’t but I have certainly seen cases in which it has helps a person clear away the clouds so that they can practice and they can get into these ways of being that help them live without the drugs or Pharmaceuticals I should say and why my journey is one that is towards Madison I’m aiming to become a doctor but I don’t just want to be an MD I want to be a DL a doctor of osteopathy so that I can treat the whole person with the ability to look at what’s really going on socially culturally it’s far as the diet there their exercise practices how what’s their stress level like so that I’m not just looking at these markers on charts but seeing them as a whole human being and able to help them gain independence day that control over their life what galaxy did you come from Mississippi out of this world I can’t thank you enough and crazy cuz this is really a synthesis of of all of the Maverick Rogue research that I have been conducting and and you know it at risk and so you know it’s it’s if I if I’m a kind of just the man to little bit about why and just to validate the work you’re doing this is so important because you know I can I’ll just kind of give a bit of a of a sidebar here so I have been somewhat religiously following Maps as work mainly through listening to all the episodes that have ever been released of the Psychedelic Salon podcast which has been cataloging And archiving not only the vast array of Terence McKenna talk switch your you know kind of comedic and entertaining is business in for his informative but also the history of maps and what in a lot of Rick doblin material and many other that the women’s Visionary Congress which is my favorite nonprofit in the world which brings in genetic research in practitioners amongst women in the underground really mostly in some some above ground as well or I don’t know exactly the balance of it but it’s it’s it’s so important for this type of work that the Psychedelic sexual healing in my in my sort of field or camping or to be in a and a higher conscious way medicalized not in a way of the way we medicalized anti-masturbation devices and drugs to kill libido and gay people and then that’s a whole nother shadow of Medicine of the medical establishment right is the when repression is codified in In The End by doctors and so many torture devices that have been created in the net and that shadow of this but in the more conscious and positive Ana where and spiritually informed manners that were talking about we really need as Country Acres and healers and King stirrers and everyone else who’s going into these these really funky places where we need a lot of help we need to work out a lot of issues together you know that the containers the spiritual safe containers that are designs for ceremony and ritual there that’s equally if not more important than the safety of the label on a drug in the warning label on a bottle of pills that mean that’s that’s what’s so interesting about what Maps is doing and the sort of this what Rak Rak razam kind of notice there studies that there’s the shamanic and this is shamanic psychedelic shamanic path of a revolution towards me no consciousness freedom of Consciousness and unconsciousness as a human right and then there’s the Psychedelic medical research which is about legalization in standardization of Doses and things that do not always an awesome opt-in cell or sell them work with you know the natural setting of shamanic ceremony where you’re taking a natural form of a plant and not a synthesized dose of a plant or something you know other material and so there’s a real it’s just a real important need to kind of find that happy medium for everybody where we can provide clinical medical safety and even things were sick if you’re going to do wild wild Kink or wild psychedelic shamanic ceremony in anything involving opening up deep wounds in the soul you should have maybe not an ambulance parked outside but certainly someone with first aid training yeah these are some of just stay she so do you want to talk about what you have planned for your sex in mindfulness presentation I think probably touched on how many things but if you don’t got to spoiler alert spoiler but just I’m just curious are like what you were what you were kind of synthesizing and in your your general kind of outline approach to initiating people in reducing answer to your medicine this is a secular conference room so I want to bring them a practice of mindfulness that they are able to connect with no matter what their background is so there will be some aspect of getting in touch with the body through the breast and getting in touch with the body through being aware of what is touching you and going into what mindfulness is what sex and mindfulness has to do with each other how we can bring mindfulness into the bedroom with ourselves are with our chosen partner and what cactus’s look like with the ones that we choose to have these experiences with as far as health concerns are the positive benefits meditation and other mindfulness practices that bring you into awareness of the present moment has been shown to give the practitioner lasting benefit as far as attention span and anxiety reduction and reducing like we had a depression it’s it’s really a beautiful thing and so I am going to do my very best to bring this to those who are attending the conference and choose disturbances I should say experience so I couldn’t help but notice on your Instagram that you’re very generous with your sensuality in in the photographic form that’s different Miley and which is exciting and for myself what I have been seeking in business partners and co-creative collaborators into people to share this so I would I believed to be a sexual Angelic Mission I mean that’s not the most secular words but you know there’s different words in different cultures for Heroes I mean hey we got nothing but super heroes coming out of the Hollywood you know Meme machine and so why not have sexual healing superheroes who have you know I’m super powers and that’s what we were cultivating with with with you know it’s time to practice is what they literally actually translate to two superpowers there was what they were called City uses you know how we would see the word now and in country scriptures but bringing this back to you know what I’ve noticed with your work and what how you present yourself online is but you were not daring bravely to seduce all hoof size fall upon you to be entranced in Enchanted to want to explore know you more and it would have that means clicking a like button and Court a follow or posting comments it’s an invitation to the world to engage with you and in that way and so many women and men but you know I’d say women are are they the ones with the multi millions of followers just on Instagram for one who are displaying the way that we would see animals in the wild the display with certain postures and certain gazing techniques and there’s this whole dance with the camera that is you know rhotic and I feel like it’s extremely powerful magic in a lot of people are not really fully conscious about how literally how much damage or how much killing big they can be doing with that power and certainly the people who own that Machinery have been for many you know for since photography existed they’ve been using it to sell poisons and unsustainable Prada the opportunity that I see you representing you know it’s very rare is that you have the Consciousness piece all these pieces put together and you are doing the seductive you know lens case with the lens in projecting yourself out to the world so you know I have more more time pack about that but I would like to pause and give you space to just share about how that feels for you and what your aspirations are in and what you’ve experienced so far and kind of like your take on that hole dimension of from sharing yourself a part of the entertainment industry for about five years now and it started with modeling and moved into Go-Go dancing and Performing Arts as far as the dance goes and now I’m finding a way to intersect all of that when I first started I was often times to eat only black girl on set the only one who needed my color foundation and as I excluded I felt I needed to find my own way and ice and so I began to take greater charge as my image in my presence and really be authentically myself and learn the makeup skills are in the hair skills start doing the costume designing but my partner at the time is a photographer and we started to have our own shoots with with models that we would find for my friends and then start to take a more more material charge of the performers who were a part of these other events that we were hosting or hoping to run and the Rave scene and doing things with other sectors of entertainment and as I began to work with Insomniac who hosts edc’s around the world I started to meet people who were more in line of my way of thinking of we can bring Beauty and light and figure and positivity into other people through the sphere through the space and Consciousness in many ways and within certain areas of the scene when I say seen I mean we’ve seen its Consciousness it’s really beautiful to get to share these experiences with people who also want to show love and give love and help people connect to love being onstage hundreds of thousands of people and there’s no doubt there is but there is something that is entry linking everyone and that we are all part of the same something and if so so beautiful and these experiences have connected me to photographers and other models who have shown me the ways of being embodied and being sexy but also being intelligent about it and that comes from other things that are part of my background but you’re presenting the parts of myself are presenting my whole self in a way that I can be proud of I used to be so nervous to post just my friends and I hanging out at the beach tonight and I want to share with people and show them that you can you can have this balance in this wonderful multi-layered expression of yourself where you are the academic are you are the physician or you are the teacher whatever role you give to yourself but you can also be in our bodies sexual person and allow all parts of yourself to come together so that you can you don’t have these conflicting parts of your person where you have to hide and you feel that sex is the shadow unfortunate part of yourself but bring it bring it to light and that’s the direction that I’m hoping to take this the modeling in the Performing is showing people that you can see your full authentic self and there are people who will accept and appreciate and receive healing from seeing that because they are given that permission to also do it and I do my best to be an online presence that is uplifting and cheerleader for the people who are doing this beautiful badass work beautiful awesome sex workers to the Educators to those who are just like having to like your post because I think you’re fabulous like here we are and ask to feed everyone the internet is expensive beyond all measure we can all be uplifted and shine and experience wonderful things from each other After experiencing ourselves and there is no room for competition in my sphere it’s all about love I encourage comments that will lead to good conversation not this I don’t want any of the call out the S I don’t want anything where people are putting other people down and we’re all trying we’re all doing our best let’s do it in a way that helps us learn helps us wake up and evolve and just in Courage other people to do the same Standing Ovation vs this is the kind of leadership this is the kind of sexual political leadership that we’re all starving for something that I share with you by email is that I’m no yeah technically in a business sense recruiting talent for a project which I feel is feel like an evolution of alt modeling you could say and evolution of all modeling would be to bring in role modeling where you’re not just looking quote bored and sad which is the direction that is given for a lot of people out of modeling set if you think of it from a tantra perspective in a magical respectively sake what are you what vibration are you cursing or buy you cursing or blessing us with your vibration and so there is people with Consciousness who want to do role modeling and actually want to teach something with they’re like oh yeah you want to look at my body great well here’s here’s me doing something useful to serve nature or served Humanity that is going to be actually a contagious meme of positivity and you’re going to learn something while you’re in a state of of arousal with my likeness and that is Magic that is like liquid cyber sex magic that is so powerful and so potent and it’s been used like I said what commercial has everything so why not why not promote the things that are most spiritually enriching invaluable and practical so like I would love to see for example in your case you’re making your beauty products in your lingerie and making instructional cooking shows and like DIY yeah right it would be if it’s always fun and Indian people used to staining that level of arousal you’re really actually from an early Mystic programming orner associative conditioning perspective you actually have literally melting there neurons and hardwiring them back into a position where the associate the positive constructive Behavior with what we all want to feel which sexual arousal like almost literally all the time and so I think that’s the magic potential and I see I’ve been torturing Myself by subscribing to all of these Instagram profiles of the models with millions of views and I just scan through and I see there is there literally doing absolutely nothing and nothing like they’re just standing someplace tonight and I appreciate especially when it’s doing nothing in nature but you could be doing something and be doing that something in it in a constructive setting and then and then the world will be changed literally overnight I mean if if if a fraction of the models on Instagram just did it like what would Vin Diesel did he did like a tree planting charity fund drive and so he leveraged is social capital of sexual Capital to get people in to Z Astic about nature and that’s the kind of stuff I think it’s just so so ripe to be explored and so you’re already fully inviting that yourself and I can only just see what would happen if more of the you know the resources that are going into production of art of all kinds really going that direction so you know that is my my public service announcement about this project that’s just my prayer at with this conversation is I don’t know what our individual or Collective Destiny will be but I do know that the the ingredients the natural ethical luxurious ingredients for all of these wonderful things they’re already being in there already in that cauldron and Emma and so again I I I thank you so much for it for reaching out and for sort of reinvigorating me in a sparking me that often Fades when I get really to moralize looking at what I’m up against and and then Jim’s come out diamonds in the Ruff and you certainly one of them so I I was send out those words of affirmation and also the the call-to-action that yeah everyone out there listening be your own erotic Rockstar model at the school ethical everything anything make a sexy naked find use the social media constructively and then we’ll all Rising tide will it will float all boats and lifts All Ships and so yeah so that Best Buy my closing words and prayers and please if you would take as much time as you desire to to balance the energy that says that I’m sharing if you will thank you so much for having me on this has been such a pleasure to explore how this works with your thoughts and to hear how oh my gosh I love that this has been a spark to you and that you are really wanting to continue on with your project of highlighting these beautiful fabulous women in light Warriors who share to heal through this form of social media and Com and our journey together will begin hello David Lebovitz welcome to Township Punk podcasts and interviewing dr. Carl shoves a psychologistpsychologist in Beverly Hills who specializes in sexuality issues and supports families in this difficult area of never navigating all kinds of new issues with the pornography so would you please give us a bit of background and how you came to be the psychologist that you are now in your practice psychologist I’ve been in private practice for about 30 years or so and in that it and it includes a focus on all aspects of Human Experience of love sex relationships self-esteem and all of those come together in various different forms and certainly sexuality is an important part of our being and so it’s very much a focus of my attention as I’m talking with people and hearing them talk about what’s going on in their lives great thanks so much so yeah getting started here I actually discovered some quotes from you an article about this kind of new buzzword around porn as a Public Health crisis or public health hazard and a lot of debate suroor going on and legislation is being proposed and worked on and moving through that whole process so we definitely need some guidance here and I just want to go through some some pretty quick and simple questions on that you can elaborate on as much as you want to give some guidance here so my question yeah it’s what would your advice be for parents of adolescent boys and girls in terms of best practices for sexuality education in the age of Internet pornography well I think the first step is for someone to be comfortable with their own sexuality because you can talk comfortably with your children about sexuality if you’re not comfortable with your own so that’s a really important thing and a very difficult thing for many adults by their parents or not unfortunately we have learned to grow up in this site in this Society not feeling very comfortable about our own sexuality and I think that becomes very much of what that issue in this trying to to eliminate pornography and calling pornography a curse on public health or Scourge on public health in a danger to society so I think that’s really the first step for any parent who wants to talk to their children of whatever age whether it’s two years old 25 years old about sexuality just as as I talked with with patients in my office about whatever is going on in their life the first step is for them to be able to be connected to themselves and what they think about things how they feel about things where that comes from in their life and all of that comes into play as you’re interacting with other people and that certainly is is true as people are interacting with their kids write so a lot of things would you agree that before the access of high-speed internet pornography there was you could actually kind of get away with a style of parenting that was just completely negligent in terms of sexuality education and they just sort of Outsource that to the school system and to the religious institutions if that was using for their guidance and they kind of checked out on that job but now that there is this sort of surrogate training of pornography and its accessibility it’s kind of forcing parents to take a more active role and to be present for that developmental process more than ever is that something you’re noticing your practice will there many things that that you mention that I think are important for us to just kind of noticed it’s not just that people were passively farming a sex education and and sexual ideology if you will about or sexual attitude do schools and other institutions but they were also in doing that there was a lot of sexual repression that would happen a lot of repression and sex negative education that was either consciously or unconsciously being passed along and it’s only in the last number of field number of years that we have gradually become more accepting of sex and sex and sexuality is being normal and healthy Part II Society it’s not very long ago that many aspects of sex were considered dirty and I was the first Playboy with Marilyn Monroe in it that today is part of popular culture and most people think as very vanilla and benign and I are at the time was considered by many people outrageous and pouring and yet today that’s something that you would easily see on many television stations there was a time when when people living together was considered with considered immoral and today it’s considered common and that was what maybe 50 years ago or so so high standards of morality standards of acceptability and sexual behavior standards of of normalcy and sexual relationships in in dating relationships have significantly changed so there is no single standard by which we can realistically talk about what is and what isn’t and why’d we should consider that point as opposed to something else and I think that’s one of the things that doesn’t really get addressed in these political efforts to try to legislate morality and to legislate sexuality yeah that’s a great point and I appreciate I like the term you use sexual ideology because then it kind of pig that’s more accurate than morality which is you know can be kind of coercive and you sort of lead into as kind of skewed towards the priest-class to give you your morality but if you look it as an ideology well then that’s more like whose Manifesto are you going to subscribe to and what’s the agenda behind it in what world do they want to create with that ideology so you said the word sex negative and now we’re looking at a more of the blossoming of Consciousness beyond that attitude towards the positive attitude and so I’m curious you got 30 years of practice experience what are some of the growing pains that families have been dealing with from you know that all this all the forms if not non hetero sexual identification orientation I’m sure you’ve been just watching these shackles kind of turned off what are some of the patterns we leading up to high speed internet porn and then now high-speed internet poor and how is that impacting families in your practice I think we have to be careful to not as not reflexively link porn and sexuality because they are very different and there’s a lot of sexuality that is apart of literature literature and the Arts are filled with sexuality and sexual images and sexual stories and to just as a default link that with foreign I think that’s up sexuality is a bad thing so I think we really need to be careful with our language and think carefully about what we’re calling pouring and why one of those the issues about foreign that came many years ago now I think it was back in the 50s or 60s when the Supreme Court the Supreme Court was ruling on pornography and one of the chief justices says I can’t come up with a definition of what point is but I know it when I see it actually it wasn’t pouring it was what’s obscene and and what he said was I can’t Define obscenity but I know it when I see it and or some variation on that and the same thing is true with touring for something for some people that Marilyn Monroe photo is pouring for other people seeing Daisy Mae in the Dogpatch in the cartoon was pouring and if we’re going to two look at any kind of image that has any kind of sexual content in it we’re going to have to close down the Museum’s we’re going to have to ban all books and then we we have to look at who is who is it that gets to make those decisions about what is acceptable and what’s not acceptable in what gives them the authority to make those decisions they may have the power to make those decisions and buy that they may be vested with an authority to make those decisions but that doesn’t mean that they’re making good decisions and educated decisions and decisions that we want to we fight we’re fortunate to be living in a country where we’re supposed to have freedom of speech and freedom of expression and so does that include freedom can sexual issues sexual images or not and who gets to determine what’s acceptable and what’s not acceptable these are all very difficult issues to dress with and I’m my style as I’m working with patients and in therapy is more to be asking questions and inviting people encouraging people and helping people to come to their own decisions so here I’m not going to be saying this is how it should be some of your listeners may be one that but I’m going to be more just raising questions about how we go about deciding these things and who do we want to be our decider I think that’s a really crucial issue for us today yes definitely will thank you for framing it that way and then I agree and we’ll get more into the the regulatory stuff in a bit so there are harmful concerns or you could just say pros and cons and I think you know a concerned family concerned parents are going to want to have some professional guidance when it comes to especially when they’re making decisions for themselves and their own relationship was conducive to better more sustainable relationship Dynamics and how can wisely chosen pornography support that that’s a question of course and then we’re back to court to talking about pornography and pornography is the term that carries many connotations and much stigma so before we use the term like pornography I think we have to be very careful about how we’re defining that so we can then be conscious of how were using it how do you like the term erotic media as a very different cuz they’re many people I mean that’s a part of the debate for many people is what’s erotica and what’s pouring for some people they are completely different for other people they are viewed as exactly the same and so that’s one of the difficulties about talking about porn when it’s on Define yeah I agree in my heart and I really feel a repulsion to the word porn because I don’t think a lot of what is experience is born is really accurate representation of erotic art as a medium so yeah I’m calling it erotic art does it have to be thought of or considered to be art to be accepted that’s been one of the stumbling blocks that has has been there with erotica and with any kind of sexual expression before is it it kind of got a pass because it was considered art well does it have to be considered art for it to be okay or not can it be something other than art but still pictures of naked people and pictures of naked people doing particular things whatever that may be even if someone or many or most people might not consider that art does that mean that it’s now no longer okay and no longer permitted or can it still be permitted even though you wouldn’t call it off does art have to be the standard by which something is deemed pornographic or erotic or just accepted right I think that’s getting into that Miller test standard the doctrine of it’s it’s it’s not obscenity if it can be proven to be artistic and or educational or having some cultural value and that’s this kind of a is as as much of a of a precise tool is is is that you can get I guess with that Miller test but yeah and even with that just on its face that could be Gene to include everything because seeing anything that you haven’t seen before has an educational component to it oh I’ve never seen this before maybe it’s okay to do that or now I see this in that’s not something that I want to do that’s not something that I think is something that would feel good to me to do or to have someone do to me or for me to do to someone else so why don’t want to do that but it’s now out of the closet and I one of the things especially in this last decade and especially the last few years as a sexual orientation and sexual identity have come into the Forefront of of color of Western culture certainly but across the across the worlds as well and also the political Spectrum as homosexuality has been been increasingly accepted and gay marriages are now legal in many states and people are also looking not only at homosexuality but transexuality or whatever whatever terminology you want to use for that that wouldn’t be offensive because that too is a burgeoning area where many people are offended by certain term so I I’m sorry if any of the terms that I that I’ve said my sound defensive to someone but it’s just about someone sexuality and what is it is that okay can that be out of the closet can we accept it does it to be regarded and tossed as dirty and unacceptable and other kinds of sex negative and identity identity negative things these are all things that we’re wrestling with and none of them are easy sounds like we need people like you being the guidance counselor and therapist for families at that level more than legislation that just forces things underground because as long as people have a demand for whatever is out there it’s going to be produced on the black market you know no matter what so and you know there’s there’s a they call it the the shadow internet or the others all that accessibility there so I think I think we definitely agree on all of his stuff so if let’s just say kind of walking through you have a family coming in there and you know that the teenage boy is experiencing erectile dysfunction and sort of unable to bond and make human romantic age appropriate connection because of a addiction to whatever you want to call it but a mediated form of sexual access right and so let’s hold on their addiction and that totally muddies the water that’s and if she has an addiction I’m sorry if he has an erectile dysfunction that’s based on some kinds of sexual addiction there’s kind of a contradiction in that so I would have to find out more about that and then to understand that better I’d have to inquire with him as much as I can while the parents aren’t there to inhibit what he’s going to tell me of what he sees as an erectile how he understands it how he defines it what his view of what’s normal is our end is that an accurate view of what’s normal and to be expected or not and by the same token what is this thing he’s talking about as some kind of addiction to pornography and what are the behaviors that are involved in that and how does he understand how that may be connected or may not be connected to what he’s talking about with some kind of erectile dysfunction those are not all straight lines there are winding paths and we have to follow the path if we are going to understand the person that were talking to if I’m going to understand the person I’m talking to you no hear my office is in Beverly Hills but I see people from all over there some people who were from next door there are other people who drive an hour in 2 hours to get to me so there’s no there’s no quick and simple answer about the people that I’m seeing and it being a select group it’s really a Melting Pot of people and I can’t make the assumptions about who you are unless I talk to them and that’s where I start is help me to understand you my my focus says I’m working with people is not trying to teach them though I know there are psychologist and psychotherapist who to focus on teaching people my focus is more on helping people to understand them and helping people to sort out what’s going on in their mind and how that connects to their life experience their understandings of themselves in the world of their relationships with other people and who they can be who they can’t be what to expect in the world so that’s where where I start with people is helping them to to let me know who they are and and that certainly applies with all issues about sex and sexuality and images of sex and sexuality okay well yeah thank you for that I’m feeling your your approaches it feels like if we all had that level of care and concern in and space to really create our own narratives that would be a way to solve a lot of our own problems with the bit of help so I appreciate that approach and that was kind of the sort of statistical archetypal stereotype of what’s of what how how you know several of the factors of how young men and boys are being harmed by something that they’re not that they actually end up being very uncomfortable with and want to seek help for inner creating their own sources for that there’s the nofap movement I’m not sure if you’ve heard of that but through set of what it’s coming down to is the extreme you know negative outcome of excessive use according to their own you know their own gauge of it and then if we look at I’ll just give you another kind of case study type example but the other equation for consumio young consumers of pornography young consumers erotic media getting there to leave the pornography tournament the door thank you email to talk about sexual images andronic images but that doesn’t mean that they are pouring and then it’s a question of what are the images the people are looking at you know there are there’s a lot of stereotype of those images are being filled with violence and leading to violence but that’s only a very small segment of what’s out there in the world of sexual imagery whether it’s videos or Stills and and the same thing with with rose there’s a whole world of sexual images that are all about love and are about sex being shown in very loving tender and unsatisfying ways but often that doesn’t get into the dialogue around porn was looking at the let’s say the Straight female certified sexual initiation process which happens to everyone and so a complaint that’s heard often is that you know I’m a teenage girl and all the boys are essentially behaving like they’re possessed and all they want to do is you know penetrate my anus in a way that has no real train skill or care concern or lubrication or all of the things that would be considered best practice is to explore that area and then they’re like this is a porndemic because I can’t find a young male to you know deflower me who I don’t feel really terrified by what’s going on in erotic imagination so is that something that you have had to answer questions about or deal with or confront cuz that’s the other sort of end of the spectrum of harm that’s certainly there and that then raises the question where do people get their sex education from where they get their sex education from about what’s normal and what if what they see on the internet is the only place that they are are learning about sex and that’s a very skewed you about what sex is what sex should be and there’s something about that that needs to be changed not from birth on the internet but to bring other people to to those kids education and part of part of that has to do with most of the sexual imagery that’s online is there for males and there’s not that of sexual imagery without fear for females so it certainly there but people do have to be looking for it more and for many of the boys growing up who who see sex on the internet that’s what they often might see but that doesn’t mean that that’s what’s normal and they’re also places on the internet where they can get more loving for Trails how that can be done and whatever sex acts someone might be looking for or inquiring but another part of this which I don’t want to just let Slide by under dress has to do with your talkin about the girls responses to to the boys I efforts to have sex and what they’re wanting and that has to do with what boys and girls and what adolescents grow up with about their own sexuality and what’s normal and what’s not normal and what’s okay and what’s not okay we’re still in a time when adolescents have the mindset that that boys should be the ones to initiate girl should not initiate and that puts all of the burden on on the boys and it sets up a dynamic between the boys and the girls wear and what kind of like you said the girls are saying well all he wants is to have sex and he wants to have it this way well let’s start with you all he wants is to have sex part and so why isn’t there more of an equality between boys and girls where they’re both wanting to have sex and they’re both seeing sex as something positive from an early age because the alternative is that is too kind of demon eyes the boys for wanting to have sex and the girls aren’t really wanting sex they’re just wanting to be loved and that is a whole dynamic between boys and girls between men and women that I think is really important part of all of these relationships that we need to take another look at it I mean it was addressed many years ago in certainly in the psychological literature one of the people that was looking at that was Wilhelm right back in the 30s about the sex negative view that was in society and there’s your dad still there we haven’t really gone all that far from that especially compared to how we think we’ve come miles and miles but it’s really only a few feet right like you’re saying there’s so many unspoken hidden Frameworks that are not being addressed like you know how to speak from experience when I was when I was a boy coming-of-age into my hormonal sexual self I was afraid to go up and write something on the chalkboard or point something out in the map because I had a tent pole in my pants cuz I was very turned on by the teacher or somebody else in the class and there was no masturbation room to go take care of myself at home or at school so we’re just not designing for this energy to flow through our cultures and you were living with the fear of being exposed as being a sexual / and being ridiculed for it in ways that girls never work but that’s the typical experience of growing up mail right and having as a dynamic between males and females in that very tender. Of age right so we’ve got a few minutes left I really appreciate your insights and I think I’m at a point where I feel like the way to frame this discourse is that it’s pouring is not a Public Health crisis or public health hazard sexual holistic sexuality education is in the lack thereof is the Public Health crisis and exactly more of the Public Health crisis is about sexual repression sexual oppression about teaching teaching people generally but especially teaching girls that sex is dirty and teaching girls that boys are bad for wanting to have sex that if everyone kind of grew up on an even playing field of seeing sex as positive seeing love is positive and being able to talk together about about those things to talk together about love to talk together about sex to talk together about what you want and what you don’t want and that’s okay we will be in a very different environment than we are today there is to be a new political office of a quote horns are not to be confused with torrent star that person was to be open-minded enough to take some direction and possibly offer to hire you to consult what kinds of programs designs no just outlines you know big picture thinking you know if you were to be able to be respected for what you’re saying and it is a we want to address the issue of institutionalized sexual repression in so where do we begin to unravel that not this is just that you know food for thought and I think one of the places is to redefine the title and take pouring out of the picture but it’s not about pouring it’s about sexuality and sexual acceptance and how can we how can we bring sexual acceptance into the public dialogue and into into the educational system and into into the kind of dialogue that parents have with your kids that that seems to me to be a big part of that role of Tsar do I don’t know that that’s the right term but to to change the language that we talked about these things so we’re not talking about about about it with sex negative sex by a sex pejorative kind of language that skews things from the gecko and set and sets us up to lose from the very start right to the simple statement sexual aggression is the product of sexual repression so it’s going to come out in pouring it’s going to come out on prom night all of that pent-up frustrated aggressive certified you want to call it Satanic call it Satanic whatever you want to call but you can have to bring the light to the darkness and and get some help with that so I think the case is closed and I really appreciate what we’ve accomplished in this call setting some new terms for discourse and really putting the the family and the family therapist in the community and the school teachers more in a position of of leadership than political Lake litigation legislation and political offices so what I would add to that is in terms of where you started is to encourage parents know themselves to be honest with themselves to be honest with their own prejudices and biases to be honest with their own fears to be honest with their own misconceptions so they don’t pass them along to kids and to be able to listen to kids more than they talk to kids and to be able to have a dialogue rather than a lecture with their kids and that changes the relationship between parents and kids and helps kids to grow and to feel accepted beautiful beautiful all right thank you dr. schub so much and if you want to give your contact information so people can start to seek your help sure you can find me at actor Karl subs.com that d r c a r l s h u b s or one string calm and phone number is 310-772-0520 that’s local here in Beverly Hills great thank you so much have a wonderful day take care you to thanks very much.
