Mac Styles Pic

In this episode I’m joined by a new friend and fan of the podcast Mac Styles for an epic adventure into the deep mysteries of love, relationships, romance, jealousy, multiple partners, threesomes, marriage, family, and beyond. His book Sex, Chicken and CoCo Butter chronicles his journey of standing up to the limiting dominant sexy paradigm, and literally fighting for his life in the struggle to love and live freely.

We get a behind the scenes look at the mechanics of opening up a relationship and able able to learn from his hard lessons and apply his wisdom to our own experiments and explorations into more wild and free love styles.

I had a great time going along for the ride, his story contains all the makings of a great adult comedy movie, sit com, talk show, reality show, etc. I can’t wait to see the book grow in popularity and help countless people develop more holistic strategies to get their sexual, emotional, financial, and spiritual needs met.

About the book:

Sex, Chicken and CoCo Butter is a narrative taken from the pages of the author’s journals during the five years of learning about different sex lifestyles, including: BDSM, polyamorous, and swinging. Streaming from sex addiction he and his wife at the time, went through a lot of trials and tribulations creating events you couldn’t believe. The author generously opens up his life and relationships to showcase for readers the power relationships with people can have in their lives. The stories talk about people in different sexual lifestyles and life experiences to show a practice not so uncommon and with mistakes that shouldn’t be repeated. The author’s viewpoint will help readers look at their own lives and relationships who practice different sexual lifestyles. The book is definitely not all positive vibes, the author shares many parts of life that are downright hard, and will deepen the impact of a positive outlook on the reader’s relationships. First time author Mac Styles lived every moment on every page of this story and now leads a more relaxed life taking the lessons learned, studying more about these different sex styles, moving on with his life and practicing building healthier relationships.

Through the last 5 years Mac has practiced BDSM and polygamous relationships and recently over the last 2 years shown an interest in tantra and energy work. Being deployed overseas has been challenging but through different mentors in Europe and a strong passion for understanding he seeks to spread what he has learned to prevent the mistakes he’s done in the past.

Ayzad pic

In this episode I’m joined by Ayzad an exquisite scholar of all things erotic and extreme. We explore human sexuality from the affirming to the disturbing and beyond. Ultimately we find redemption and hope in the efforts of sexual liberators to create consensual, safe, and sane spaces to share experiences, knowledge and wisdom without repression.

About Ayzad:
I was born in 1969. I am a reformed journalist, a writer, alternative sexuality educator and a personal coach. I have been practicing BDSM for 30 years now and Ayzad is the pseudonym under which in 2004 I wrote BDSM – A Guide for Explorers of Extreme Eroticism, where I collected everything I had learned from my studies of a really endless topic. That manual became a best seller starting collaborations with sexologists and scholars who drew me to extend my research to every form of unusual sexuality.

The first result was another book titled XXX – The Dictionary of Unusual Sex (currently, most of my books are available in Italian only, sorry!), followed by many other projects described within my website, including the novel Original Sins, the biography The Mistress and the guide to extreme erotic relationships I Love BDSM.

Ayzad.com was born to collect and share my daily discoveries about the lesser known aspects of sex, to have fun together and – as it always happens with these things – to better know ourselves. Enjoy.

Leveraging Sexual Capital with Raven the Tantrapreneur TPP87

Play

TPP87 pic In this episode I’m joined by Tantric Raven, my coveted counterpart and soon to be tantric business and pleasure partner. We explore her unique path of tantrapreneurialism, blending diverse passions, skill sets, talents, and trainings to be one of the most dynamic priestesses I’ve yet encountered.
About Raven:

DAKINI

I see myself as a Dakini Priestess. A Dakini is a Tantric Priestess that roughly translates in Sanskrit to “Sky Dancer.” A Dakini, in carnal form, is a female muse gifted with the abilities to serve as a vessel, carrying out sexual spiritual enlightenment. A Dakini’s role is to evoke spiritual awakening through pleasure and arousal. They are cosmic souls, grounded on the earth yet always dancing in the sky. I often find myself dancing in the ether worlds, gaining knowledge and guidance.

CURANDERA

I see myself as a Curandera Priestess. A Curandera is a Spanish traditional healer whose practices include plant medicine healing, exorcisms, and spirit cleansings. Cureanderas are thought to be blessed by God with naturally born healing powers. These gifts are often passed down from generation to generation. I come from a long line of healers from both my paternal and maternal lineage. Not only do I feel that my gifts are something passed down to me, but also something that I have gained from many, many lifetimes working with Sex Magick.

SHAMAN

I see myself as a Shamanic Priestess. Shamans are channelers who interact with and receive messages from the spirit world through altered states of consciousness. An archetype for a shaman is The Wounded Healer, as it is said that many shamans find their calling through sickness and suffering. My awakening began when I was going through major health trials and tribulations. I healed myself through connection with a higher source and I seek to do the same for others.

CREDENTIALS

I have a bachelor’s degree in both Behavioral Science and Marketing. I have spent the last few years traveling the world, giving me the opportunity to experience different cultures, beliefs and practices. During my travels and over the years, I have had the pleasure of studying with many different teachers in the fields of Tantric Massage, Swedish Massage, Thai Massage, Lomi Lomi Massage, Yoga, Reiki, Aromatherapy, nutrition, and plant medicine therapy.

I enjoy dabbling in many different modalities. My clients find that my approach, although backed by traditional studies, tend to take on a unique approach. My views are that we should learn what we can but let intuition take a front seat. I use what I know but let my intuitive gifts and sinful desires take precedence where and when they can, making my services as unique as I am.

Vikki Dark PicIn this episode I’m blessed to converse with former porn star Vikki Dark about the political economy of sexploitation in the adult industry. We address an array of ancient, recent, present and future paradigms from radical and eco-feminist perspectives. Ultimately our conclusion is hopeful as we find ways to share strength and explore synergy in our efforts to transcend this pit of capitalist sexploitation.

About Vikki:
Vikki Dark is a writer and academic whose work spans erotica, feminist thought, biography and transgressive fiction. She’s a radical feminist and a sex industry survivor who now campaigns against the injustices rife in the sex industry namely the use of comprising imagery by producers for the lifetimes of women.

tantra-punk-kali in this episode I’m joined by M.F.P. for an exploration of the new 50 Shades of Green Sektual Permaculture spoken word poem I recently released. I lay out the thesis and she affirms that sexual capital can and should be invested into ecologically honorable endeavors.

In a bonus segment, with permission I read an article by Jill Lawson called “50 Shades of Namaste” all about the parallel benefits and pitfalls of both Yoga and BDSM. It is very wise and insightful and helps balance out the discourse by owning and honoring our need to escape the ego by inducing altered states of consciousness. I agree that ethics are sorely needed to ensure integrity and relative safety in all of our attempts to learn and practice arts of transcendence.

Kristen Boyer picIn this episode I’m am joined by Kristen Boyer. She caught my attention in a you tube video of a panel discussion on eros and entheogens. She described a recent chapter of her life as a profesional shamanatrix. I had dreamt of  such an archetype several years ago as I began to be intiated into the mysteries of sexual healing with psychedelic goddess worship

She has graciously blessed the podcast by sharing a bit from her memoires and engaging in a visioneering session with me on a more holistic and empowered future for dommes and their clients.

About Kristen

I have always been a natural counselor and teacher by design, and have been interested in motivating and supporting others in achieving their highest levels of happiness, wholeness and success. Shortly after earning my MA in Creative Arts Therapy at Pratt Institute in New York, I fell ill with chronic illness followed by abandonment of my spouse (which were undoubtedly connected to my health problems and had to be addressed on a physical, emotional and spiritual level). I felt my life crumble before me. In desperation to stay in New York City, I took up a job as a professional dominatrix as an attempt to reclaim my power and supplement the high costs of city living. I applied my psychotherapy training and facilitated a glorified version of drama therapy that allowed my clients an outlet for their shadow sides to be vulnerable, acknowledged and accepted without judgment. I found that deeply wounded clients were magnetically drawn to my empathic intuitive ‘girl next door’ persona. I found I was naturally gifted at holding space for some of the darkest, and most concealed wounds to be seen and healed. My dungeon time was not long-lived yet these experiences have inspired me to transmute and integrate some of the darker, shadow sides of my clients while balancing spiritual and psychological health.

Shamanism and soul retrieval work began to magnetically draw me in and I quickly realized that this was my life’s work. I was trained in many shamanic healing modalities, the most powerful of these techniques being soul retrieval. Learning how to facilitate soul retrieval was the missing piece of my healing practice…click here to read more

Punk and BDSM as Cultural Scabs TPP20

Play

green-house-promThis is an opinionated piece I wrote a while back attempting to analyze punk and bdsm in a historical context from an anthropological perspective.

It’s an open ended questioning of what aspects of these two subcultures would be voluntarily perpetuated into the future once the social, ecological, and sexual liberation we fight for so desperately is finally achieved.

Punk and BDSM as Cultural Scabs

I live to smash patriarchy from the bedroom to the boardroom by teaching men and women the anthropological history and prehistory of human domination. For 99% of our species’ existence we lived in nomadic egalitarian hunting/gathering bands. Without being settled, controlling territory/property and without producing male controlled productive surplus, we shared power equally. However approximately 10,000 years ago, some human cultures began to form permanent settlements, domesticate plants and animals, and stratify into authoritarian classes. Starting around 5,000 years ago, the first fortified settlements were built, we now call these war based settlements “cities”. Civilization is thus the process by which once relatively peaceful and equal societies have either enslaved themselves, animals, and the earth, or have been conquered and enslaved.

Anthropologically I see the BDSM movement as an attempt to bring the underlying trauma of civilization and industrial slavery into creative, healing, social contexts. We “play” with the gender roles and power dynamics that the dominant culture forces us to “work” within. It’s the only way to gain a sense of self-determination and sovereignty in a world that’s out of control.

The movement also reclaims the primal, ancestral need to achieve group states of ritualized ordeal induced altered ecstatic states.

I believe that most fetishes are a cultural immune responses that are reacting to the pathology of religious/agricultural/industrial/corporate domination and exploitation.

From a radical/eco feminist perspective, I advocate conscious active resistance to the patriarchal paradigm. It is my hope that we’ll reject and redesign war based urban environments and economies so that they nurture the earth and the feminine principle. A great resource on the rise of patriarchal dominance, and the conquest of peaceful goddess worshipping cultures is the documentary “Goddess Remembered” http://www.nfb.ca/film/goddess_remembered/

In my experience, the most powerful weapon in the struggle for liberation of the feminine divine, is the application of Tantra. A Tantric renaissance would provide the sexual/social/psychological technologies needed to break the spell of submission to the masters of patriarchy.

The rebalancing of earthly and divine masculine and feminine energies would ultimately relieve the contorted pressure built up in our individual psyches and most fetishes would fade out of existence. I think it’s worth questioning the voluntary perpetuation of certain forms of kink that in effect reproduce the pathology of the dominator culture.

When we return to natural balance, shed industrial slavery, reforest, rebuild soil, and reclaim our birthright to thrive on a peaceful Edenic garden planet by design, we’ll no longer need to “process” through BDSM. We won’t have as much dammed, frustrated, twisted pain trapped in our nervous systems needing to be constantly exorcised.

We can identify and salvage the transcendent primal aspects of body modification, deprivation, bondage, ordeal, shamanic trance, etc. and bury the medieval torture aesthetic.

I feel the same way about punk rock. A lot of punks had sell out ex-hippie parents (like in the movie Pump Up the Volume). They couldn’t understand why we made loud, aggressive, abrasive sounding music. They wanted to create a groovy world of peace and serenity and made a tie-dyed, bongoed, sandaled subculture to strive for their ideals within during the late 60s.

By the late 70s, the punk rock movement, taking the radical politics to a further extreme, created a dark reactive aesthetic that presented the Jungian “shadow” of the collective unconscious. Punk is a cultural scab on the festering wound of the failure of the 60s. It’s as if to say, okay mom and dad you tried peace and love, got your asses kicked by riot police, lost momentum when your leaders were jailed, and after the war, your movements dissolved and you rejoined the suburban rat race…you sold out…so In this generation, it’s “no more mister nice guy! Punk is going to get raw, in your face, dirty, nasty, angry, vulgar, negative, hostile, critical, uncompromising, threatening, violent, destructive, fatalistic, etc.

In the U.S. the punk movement is perhaps the most privileged and apathetic, however throughout Latin America, Europe, Southeast Asia and beyond, the revolutionary punk movement is a serious political force.

It’s debatable whether punk will bring down the system and deliver total liberation to the masses world-wide. But it’s worth engaging in the thought experiment: what if somehow magically, punk did succeed. What if it did fulfill it’s ultimate mission: to create sustainable autonomous anarchy to be managed by small retribalized self-sufficient collaborative communities?

What if the punks won? For how long after the victory would all of that angst exist, would their be a toxic polluted war-torn world to base the militant/skull/bullet-belt reactive aesthetic on? Or would all of those memes just fade out of cultural memory?

That’s why I say that both BDSM and punk are cultural scabs. They reflect the dominator culture, they are a tactical weapon against the dominator culture, and they help us cope and grapple with the predicament of being trapped within the dominator culture. But when the dominator model is once again restored to a partnership model, the scab will flake off, giving way to a scar; a scar hopefully big enough that we’ll never be able to forget it and forever carry the wisdom not to make the same mistakes.

When the scab flakes off, what will our transcendent group sexual rituals look and feel like? What will our once dark and abrasive music sound like? I don’t think we’ll be singing Kum Ba Yah in bell bottoms and bandanas. But we will be singing and drumming around camp fires.

In the deep primitive future, we’ll once again be the highest expression of the local ecology. We’ll be the “most beneficial element in the natural system”, rather than the most destructive. Our sexual energy will flow freely and will be guided by the wisdom of shamanic elders, not dammed and twisted by scriptures.

I ask the BDSM scene, which revels in the perpetuation of dominator themes and memes: what role shall we play in this epic moment of opportunity to recreate authentic ecological partnerships with the land beneath our feet? Can we not apply our biological exuberance, fiery passion, and long list of technical and craft skills towards building eco-villages? If a percentage of time and energy was applied to growing our own produce, raising our own meat, catching our own rainwater, composting our own waste, managing our own wood lots, building our own earthen shelters, etc. would we not distribute the load of frustrated energy that contorts our psyches to the point of chronic sexual perversion?

I’m not judging anyone’s fetish, I’m just doing as Timothy Leary advised and questioning everything. Every phenomenon, physical or cultural has a historical context. There was a time before “x” came into being, and there will be a time after. What is the historical context of these bizarre fetishes that have seized upon us? Did they have a functional adaptive advantageous evolutionary utility for our ancestors living in the wild? I think when you peel back the current historical layer, the answer is absolutely yes. But again the need to “ex-state”, to access non-ordinary states of conscious was met by transcendent rituals, rites of passage, ceremonies, controlled induction of pain and ordeal.

So called primitive cultures are filled with freakish practices, so I’m not saying stop getting turned on by pretending to be a dog. I’m just asking, how can pretending to be a dog be brought out of the dungeon and become a healthy part of the fabric of a sustainable tribal culture? Might it morph into a more traditional form of masked totemistic story-telling dance? (see The Spirit of the Mask: http://youtu.be/DtT82PAHZr8).

Towards the evolution of deep ecologically correct, kink-friendly, shameless, free, neo-tribal cultures!
